I READ 100 PAGES EVERY DAY IN MARCH *FAIL* // Aka. The Month I Got Distracted By Keanu Reeves Movies And Forgot To Read (I’m Sorry)

allonsy_chats_discussionsfeature

Hi all! Welcome back to my blog! Today I’m coming at you with a wrap up of sorts! I’ve decided to try and incorporate more challenge-style posts into my blogging schedule since you guys asked for that. So, this month (these may not be monthly btw, I’m not BooksandLala) I decided to sort of test the boundaries around my reading since I’m usually very much a chill reader, and just pick up a bok when I want to. I wanted to test myself a bit but also try and moderately track my reading habits!

So, I decided to read 100 pages a day in March! That being said, how could I know how stressful March was going to turn out?!

I thought about restricting my reading to only 100 pages a day but that would mean only reading 3100 pages all month, and sometimes I just want to keep reading if I’m really into a book. The whole point of the challenge is to motivate me to read regularly (or at all) or to remind me to read every day, not to police or restrict a page number each day.

All that being said, I plan my blog content pretty far in advance, so I did forget I had this planned for the month, but I remembered pretty quickly, so this isn’t wholly accurate, but it’s pretty damn close!

WHAT I READ IN JANUARY, FEBRUARY + MARCH! // MY READING AT A GLANCE: 2019

Readingataglancejanfebmar_2018feature

Hey guys, welcome back to my blog! Today I’m coming at you with my reading wrap up of the first three months of the year, January, February & March! I’ve managed to read 48 things so far this year so I’m pretty chuffed with my reading progress so far! I’ve read some new favourites and some… others, and I’ve read books from new genres and age groups and I’m super excited to see what my next wrap up looks like since this one was so varied!

MY WATCHING: AT A GLANCE | 2018 #3

Hey Guys! Today I’m coming at you with all the movies and tv shows I watched in July, August & September! I got most of these out from the library or I already owned them but during this quarter of the year I also saw a whole bunch of new release movies at the cinema because I ended up levelling up to a VIP at my local cinema and because of that I get my movie tickets a whole lot cheaper.

So, I don’t want you guys to think that I’m mega rich or that I don’t know how privileged I am to be able to see all these films. I know that I watch a lot of movies and I’m okay with that, but at the same time I only really spend my money on food at Uni or movie tickets these days, since my reading life has gone out the window!

[IF YOU WANT TO SEE WHAT I’M WATCHING WHILE I’M WATCHING, YOU CAN CATCH ME ON LETTERBOXD & TVTIME]

So, without further ado, these are all the movies and tv I watched in July, August and September!

MY READING: AT A GLANCE | 2018 #1

Hey guys, today I’m coming at you with a pretty massive reading wrap up full of beautiful book covers, pie charts and many many star ratings. In December last year I stopped writing my monthly reading wrap ups and so I figured I would still like you guys to know what I’ve been reading and other than my occasional WWW Wednesday posts I figure this is the best way to let you guys know about what I’ve been reading this year.

MY 2018 FEMMEUARY WRAP UP!

Hey guys, today I’m coming at you with my first kind of wrap up for this year! This month I participated in Femmeuary, you can read about my original plans here!

arrowicon

ALL WRITTEN BY WOMEN

ANTSY #Zenith by Sasha Alsberg   Truly Devious by Maureen Johnson   Batman by Marie Lu   Queens of Geek by Jen Wilde   Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (Harry Potter, #2)   Jane Eyre

ZENITH / TRULY DEVIOUS / BATMAN / QUEENS OF GEEK / HP 2 / JANE EYRE

I started out the month pretty strong with Zenith – a new release co-written by two women about a badass team of women. You can read my review here.

I then moved onto Truly Devious and Batman: Nightwalker – both written by women.

And then I fell off the wagon, but I don’t feel bad about it because I mostly read books by women anyway, so reading 3  books in a row by men was a bit of a fluke for me.

I then ended the month with Queens of Geek, The Chamber of Secrets and Jane Eyre, which I only started 2 days ago and somehow I am almost finished it.

Did I watch anything directed by or about women? Lol, so guess who rarely watches movies unless she’s at the cinema. I honestly had to make an effort to watch any kind of media this month. Is that weird? And all my effort got me was 4 episodes into the Netflix show, Glow (which I really enjoyed). And that’s pretty much it unless you want to be that person who argues that Fifty Shades Freed is an empowering film for women.

I really wanted to watch some other media like Shrek, Belle or Persepolis but, I am really not great at watching tv or movies unless I am properly in the mood to stare at a screen for a few hours and give myself a headache.

MY ANYTHING BUT SPOOKY OCTOBER WRAP UP

Well, guess who officially feels like she’s fallen off the wagon! This month was a bit of a doozy, I started my new job, planned (keyword: planned) to do 3 readathons, started school again and got sick & missed a week off school. A lot happened, and in this time I have to say I definitely was not blogging as much as usual. Sorry about that, I’m trying to make sure it doesn’t happen again.

Anyway, here’s my October wrap up!

BRAVE NEW WORLD

Read 02/10/2017 β˜…β˜†β˜†β˜†β˜†

Nope. This was just not for me.
From page one I knew I was not going to enjoy this, there was nothing interesting about this and I hated every second of it. (Read this for school btw)

THE SWORD OF SUMMER (MAGNUS CHASE #1)

Read11/10/2017 β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…

I loved this book. The first 100 pages were so/so but the rest of the book was fantastic. I did feel like Rick was trying a bit too hard to convince us that Magnus wasn’t Percy though, the guy doesn’t like blue and he isn’t a fan of the water. I see you, Rick. Mainly what I loved about this book though (apart from all the new mythology stuff I’m learning) was Hearthstone (I love him) and Blitzen, they have an awesome friendship and I can’t wait to explore it more in book 2!

You can read my review here!

THESE BROKEN STARS (STARBOUND #1)

Read 17/10/2017 β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜†

Titanic meets Blue Lagoon. I seriously love this book.

ANNE OF GREEN GABLES (ANNE #1)

Read 21/10/2017 β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…

I honestly forgot how much I loved this story, I love Anne and I love Dianne and I love Marilla and I love Matthew and I definitely love Gilbert Blythe. Somehow I have never read more than the first book so I will definitely be continuing the series soon.

LOST BOY

I will definitely be re-reading this sometime in the future and I will definitely be reading more of Christina Henry’s novels in the future also.

RTC

ANNE OF GREEN GABLES GRAPHIC NOVEL

Eh.

LUMBERJANES VOLUME 6

I loved this, I hadn’t realised how much I missed reading this series.

This was a pretty meh month in general, but I finally finish school next month so I’m hoping to get some more reading done next month.

September Wrap Up | 2017

Hey guys, today I’m coming at you with my September reading wrap up!

This month I didn’t really read much because I was on holiday, but I am still pretty impressed with the books that I did read. I managed to read 3 e-arcs which will have reviews coming out soon, and I also read a bunch of other books which I absolutely adored!

tbr_bookishopinionsfeature1

The Sandcastle Empire by Kayla Olson A Storm of Swords by George R.R. Martin Born a Crime by Trevor Noah If There's No Tomorrow by Jennifer L. Armentrout Stalking Jack the Ripper (Stalking Jack the Ripper #1) Editing Emma by Chloe Seager

The Sandcastle Empire

Read 01/09/2017 β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜†β˜† 3.5/5

It feels like I haven’t read a Dystopia in a while, and a good one at that, so this was a nice change. That being said, I felt the romance was sort of unnecessary and the plot twists were kind of obvious.

RTC

A Storm of Swords (part 2)

Read 03/09/2017 β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜†β˜†

This is definitely my favourite book of the series so far, I only have the next book on my shelves, but if the rest of the books are on this level I think I will continue with the series.

Born A Crime: Stories From a South African Childhood

Read 18/09/2017 β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…

I loved this. This was definitely a shock to the system, it certainly puts my privilege in perspective, I may have a shitty situation in general, but it is nowhere what he had to deal with.

If There’s No Tomorrow

Read 19/09/2017 β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜†β˜†

I thought grief was handled really well in this book, and I enjoyed that the douchebag wasn’t a controlling douchebag, but apart from that, this doesn’t have much else going for it.

You can read my review here.

Stalking Jack The Ripper

Read 23/09/2017 β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…

I LOVED THIS. I really didn’t know what I was diving into with this but I am so happy I read it. I will definitely be reading book two soon or for the Spookathon.

RTC

Editing Emma

Read 24/09/2017 β˜…β˜†β˜†β˜†β˜†

WOW, I really thought I was going to love this book but boy was I wrong. From page one I knew that this book and I were not going to get along. I completely abhorred basically everything about this and I am so mad about it.
