Hey guys! Today I’m coming at you with my “live” “week 1” update for Jamishelves’ Marvel-A-Thon! I haven’t done one of these for a while but so far I’m feeling pretty confident, and I hope you guys enjoyreading my progress. I feel like so far this readathon has really pushed me to pick up different types of stories that I probably would’ve pushed back and not picked up for years, so thanks Jamieson!
Marvel-A-Thon was created by Jamieson over at Jamishelves and you should all bow down to her because she is amazing and I love her for taking so much time to make this readathon!

FRIDAY JUNE 1
OKay, so I am already moving off my tbr, but I’m sick and not really in the mood for anything much at the moment, so I think I’ll listen to Caraval while I play some Solitaire or write a blog post. I’m a bit sick at the moment and I should be going on a holiday (omg, what is this unheard of word???) at the end of the month so I’m trying to get ahead of my blogging schedule for once in my life.
Caraval, Chapter 35
I’m almost finished Caraval and now I’ve officially written some more blog posts. Apparently being confined to a bed is great for writing posts. I just finished writing my review of Undead Girl Gang and oh, boy did I not like that book! I think I’ll try and write some more recommendations now, as I need a bit of a pick me up and they are my favourite post to write!
Whoop whoop! First book down! I think I’ll count this as the Iron Man challenge, first book in a series. Honestly, I really want to pick up Legendary (the sequel) but it doesn’t fit into any of the challenges so I might have to pick up something else or just not count Legendary towards a challenge!
SATURDAY JUNE 2
So, it’s day two of the month and I am well and truly sick! I ended up feeling pretty mentally and physically exhausted last night so I didn’t do any more reading but, I watched the 2015 Cinderella and was asleep by 10pm.
Today has pretty much been a similar story, I’ve hung out with the dog most of the day and exhausted half my tissue supply. I am starting my audiobook for Legendary as I write this but I think my main goal for today will be to try and make my throat better, so I can talk more easily.
I just finished up re-watching The Princess Bride with the fam while I wrote some blog posts. It was so much fun to watch that movie again. I haven’t watched it in so long and I forgot how ridiculously hilarious it is! In terms of Legendary, I am roughly 12 chapters in and really enjoying it!
SUNDAY JUNE 3
I know it’s getting pretty late now, but I swear I’ve been up since at least 8 this morning. I’ve had my porridge and I’m currently listening to some more of Legendary and taking advantage of the good blogging mood I’m in!
Legendary is taking me a bit longer to read than I originally assumed, but I am still really enjoying it. So, I think I might push the rules a bit and include it as my Hulk challenge, green on the cover. I’m going to try and finish it by the end of the day but I have no idea if that’s going to happen!
MONDAY JUNE 4
So, I have been up since 7:30 this morning but of course, I am only just updating you guys now. Last night, I finished Legendary and I predicted the ending from pretty far away but who cares because I loved it. Also, guess who finally read something off her tbr! I also read volume 1 of Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur and loved it probably too much.
I started off my morning by baking cookies and listening to The Song of Achilles and while they were in the oven I ended up reading Moon Girl & Devil Dinosaur Vol 2, which I finished and also really loved.
I think I’ll count Moon Girl V1 towards my Iron Man 2 prompt because apparently the world is full of buzz kills and I think Vol 2 could also fit with the Hulk prompt too.
TUESDAY JUNE 5
I haven’t read anything so far today because I ended up sleeping over at a friend’s place and we had a really great time. We ended up watching Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri & Thor: Ragnarok. It was actually really nice to be able to chill for once.
I’m home now but I’m pretty tired so I think I’m just going to put some Once Upon A Time on and go to sleep early so I can pick The Song of Achilles up tomorrow morning.
WEDNESDAY JUNE 6
EDIT: The Internet was out for Wednesday and our Internet provider can’t send anyone out until Monday, so I didn’t get to update you guys. But I will now!
Basically, I didnt do much because it was game one of State of Origin (aka. The biggest event of the year in Aus) so I pretty much spent the day being anxious (I’m from NSW but, I live in QLD so it’sactually kind of dangerous around this time of year). I hate SOO so I went and saw Solo with my mum & brothers (we all hate football lol) instead and I loved it, I gave it all the stars!! 9.5/10 would definitely see again!
THURSDAY JUNE 7
No wifi again so I had to get creative. Basically ya girl needs wifi to be a blogger and ya girls got none. Instead of blogging I ended up baking cookies (from scratch, because I’m a pro) and listening to The Song of Achilles. So far, I’m 187 pages in and I’m feeling pretty meh about it. I already know the story and I’m not loving A or P so I’m feeling a disconnect from the story. Hopefully I’ll start enjoying it soon!
Also, I read Giant Days Vol 1 today, yay for reading!
FRIDAY JUNE 8
Finally, I’m updating you on the day of!
I just picked up Three Dark Crowns again and I’m hoping to finally make some leeway with it. It’s realllly slow but I’m trying to reserve judgement.
I’ve spent most of the day either cooking, chilling with the dog or reading Three Dark Crowns. I’m roughly 260 pages in and really starting to enjoy it. We’re really in the thick of things now and getting to know the characters so I’m actually quite enjoying it, though it takes up a lot of brain power.
SATURDAY JUNE 9
So far I’ve had a pretty slow reading morning. I planned on finishing 3DCs last night but ended up watching Tarzan for the first time and then rewatching Frozen (why do so many people hate Frozen??).
I think my goal for today will be to finish Three Dark Crowns and hopefully to read some more of The Song of Achilles. *fingers crossed*
I have finished Three Dark Crowns oml finally! (I really enjoyed it and will hopefully be picking up book 2 soon!)
SUNDAY JUNE 10
Welp, it’s finally happened folks, I have finally read The Song of Achilles. All I can say is that I am definitely in the minority with this book. I think it was pretty meh. I was bored most of the time reading it and I’ll be honest, I think it was pretty overhyped.
I don’t know if I’ll read anymore today. I wanted to do a phase per week but there’s no harm in starting earlier so maybe I’ll pick up something else later in the day.
(Sorry if I just chucked hate on your favourite book 😧❤)
I just started Bad Romance by Heather Demitrios and so far I’m really enjoying it – the writing is great! I think I’ll read some more tonight and then I might starts season 5 of Once Upon a Time. Either way, I think I’ve had a successful “first week” (if a week was 10 days lol) to the Marvel-A-Thon and I’m excited to continue!
