THERE WILL BE SPOILERS FOR PREVIOUS MARVEL MOVIES
10 years and 18 movies later we finally have him. Thanos is here and he’s ready to make shit hit the fan. Avengers Infinity War is the 19th ever Marvel movie and as you guys probably already know, I am quite the superhero fanatic. I love Thanos as a character so, I was cautious but optimistic and if I’m honest (and withoutΒ giving anything away) I felt like this movie was slightly ridiculous, but isn’t that what Marvel is all about?
I will say before I properly get into myΒ review if you are planning on seeing this movie you better go pee beforehand. You should bring a bottle of water andΒ be prepared. I’m not a movie snacker but, ifΒ you like toΒ snack you should bring some chips because you’ll be sitting in the cinema for a while. I was in the cinemaΒ + theΒ long-ass premiereΒ line for roughly 3 and a bit hours so I am so glad I had my water bottle with me.
I would also suggest tissues, just in case, because God knows I let my tears fall.
So, what did I actually think of the movie?Β
I don’t know. I think I will have to watch some reviews to really determine my opinion. From a comic nerd pov, I did really love this but, I honestly don’t know how everyone else will feel about it. If you love the MCU you will probably love this movie because ALL MY FAVES ARE IN THIS MOVIE I AM SO HAPPY BUT ALSO SO SCARED OML! But, if you’re just coming becauseΒ your sibling or friend is dragging you, in all honesty, you may not enjoy it.
This movie is a lot. Like, A LOT. This movie has so many characters in it and at points, I found it quite overwhelming. Without spoiling I felt like some of the characters were acting a tad out of character which was a bit weird. Also, my main problem with this movie was that it felt like I was watching 5 movies all at once. It was like reading a multi-pov book that switched to the next pov in the middle of a scene which really started to bother me by the end because I would completely forget about some character even if they had just been in the middle of an epic battle 10 minutes ago. This movie is a lot, but it’s totally worth it. It was a really fun and wonderfully acted first part of this story and I really can’t wait for Avengers 4.
That being said, I came out of the cinema, 3 hours later and I felt excited but tired. The film looked fantastic (and v shiny) but, I pretty much called it all beforehand, which is one of the only downsides to being a Marvel nerd. This movie was pretty mediocre but, if you are a Marvel fan and you really love these characters I really do think you will like this movie.
THE AFTER CREDITS SCENE: *NON-SPOILER*
Let’s just say that it was pretty lacklustre but I am more than excited for what’s to come.
I kind of feel like MCU movies as a whole are overrated. But, as a comic and general, marvel nerd seeing 10 yrs of films come to life is what really made this movie for me. If nothing else, I think others will enjoy this movie for the laughs and the sheer ridiculous amount of superheroes in this film.
I’m 19 movies in and not quitting now.
Will I see it again though? Well, let’s put it this way, if I wasn’t already planning on taking my brothers to see it then no, I probably wouldn’t pay to see it again in the cinemas. I did enjoy it but I already got to experience it on the first day in the first session. I got to join the queues of people theorisingΒ about it in the line before we went in. I kind of don’t want to tarnish that memory?
