SERIES WORTH RE-READING

Hey guys, today I’m coming at you with some more recommendations! I don’t think I’ve ever done this before so I thought I would try something different and recommend some series worth a re-read! I’ve chosen not to include Harry Potter or Percy Jackson because I thought they were too obvious, so hopefully, you guys will like these other series too!

Completed Series

Β books book booksΒ The Sword of Summer (Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard, #1)Β Β The Raven Boys (The Raven Cycle, #1)Β Β The Golden Door (The Three Doors Trilogy, #1)

MAGNUS CHASE TRILOGY 3/3

I love this trilogy and I have no shame. I’ll admit that I haven’t actually re-read this trilogy but, I d plan on re-reading it next year. Honestly, I’m adding it to this list, based on the fact that every Riordan book is worth re-reading and because I’ve had to actually stop myself from re-reading this trilogy every month since I finished it.

THE RAVEN CYCLE 4/4

I have re-read all the books in this series apart from The Raven King (book 4). This is one of those series where you pick up something new upon each re-read so, I think it is definitely worth it! I love books like this, where you are constantly learning something new about the characters or plot, I think it makes the experience even more fun!

THE DOORS TRILOGY 3/3

I had to add this trilogy because when do I not recommend these books (and this author, in general). I have a goal to re-read this trilogy every year until I get to busy to, it’s not a fancy goal but subconsciously it’s just something I want to do. I feel like the year I stop re-reading these books will be the year Earth burns to a crust and whatever’s left of my own goodness evaporates, but I’m not being dramatic or anything. Seriously, I love this series and it honestly just makes me so sad to see how few people have actually read it.

Unfinished Series

Β books book books Caraval (Caraval, #1)Β Β I Hate Fairyland, Vol. 1: Madly Ever AfterΒ Β Stalking Jack the Ripper (Stalking Jack the Ripper, #1)

CARAVAL – 2/3 published

So far I’ve read Caraval 3 times and Legendary once though I can see myself re-reading it many more times in the future. This series has amazing writing and is full of twists and turns so that it’s even more fun when you re-read it! I already can’t wait for book 3 to come out so I can see how this trilogy comes to a close!

I HATE FAIRYLAND – 3/? published

This series is hilarious. It’s incredibly violent and as you can see y the cover, so bright! The colouring in this comic is completely different to what you would expect considering the main character is a psycho serial killer in a land of monsters and manipulative fairies. This series is brilliant and I will read pretty much anything Skottie Young illustrates and I hope you all decide to pick this one up!

STALKING JACK THE RIPPER – 2/4 published

If you know me at all, you already know that I love this series probably too much, especially considering there are only two books. Either way, Hunting Prince Dracula is one of my favourite books in all existence and I am so happy that it exists but so sad that more people haven’t read it. The mystery is amazing, the romance will have you swooning and the banter will leave you cackling.

My Top 5 Favourite Books of All Time | April 2018

Hey guys, today I’m going a little crazy and talking about my favourite books. This is a kind of nerve-wracking post because how can this be a list of my favourite books of all time if I am only 17?Β

This list is, of course, susceptible to change but, at the moment these are my top 5 favourite books!

Remember to click on the book cover to go the Goodreads pages!

dotbreaker

WITHOUT FURTHER ADO AND IN NO PARTICULAR ORDER,

THESE ARE MY FAVOURITE BOOKS OF ALL TIME…

favesHunting Prince Dracula (Stalking Jack the Ripper, #2)Β  Β Eating AnimalsΒ  Β Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens AgendaΒ  Β The Seven Husbands of Evelyn HugoΒ  Β The Martian

HUNTING PRINCE DRACULA

I love this book. That is a given considering the title and subject of this post but god damn, I can’t mention this book without talking about how much I love it.

I love Stalking Jack The Ripper and I honestly didn’t think it could better but when I read HPD earlier this year my mind was blown. Blood was splattered and I was full on in love with the characters Kerri Maniscalco has created.

I wrote a blog post earlier this year talking about some recent favourite reads of mine and I really went into why I love this series, which you can read here. To sum everything up, while also taking into account that books 3 and 4 aren’t out yet, I can tell you that I love this series because of its spunky mc, swoon-worthy love interest and gory murder mysteries.

EATING ANIMALS

I have only really read this one book about vegetarianism and while I would love to read more books on this subject, I do own this one so I know I will definitely be reading this in the future because of how much I love this book. I always recommend this book to people who might be considering going vegetarian, if not just because it really goes into the meat industry in America.Β I honestly think that everyone one should read this book at once in their life.

If you want to read about my thoughts on being vegetarian, you can find that here.

SIMON VS. THE HOMO SAPIEN’S AGENDA

This is one of the only ya high school contemporaries that I would and could happily read once a month every year, purely just because it makes me happy. I love Simon Spier and I love Bram and I love Oreos.

This is just a fun novel that makes me feel genuinely excited whenever I decide I want to re-read it. I honestly can’t wait until the movie comes out on digital so I can watch it in the background all but constantly just because of the happy feeling I always get from the story. Also, who doesn’t love a good cry?

THE SEVEN HUSBANDS OF EVELYN HUGO

Of all the books on this list, this is the book I’ve read most recently. In fact, I only read it in March so it’s kind of a crazy feeling for it to be in my top 5. This is a fantastic and really unique book. I knowΒ that everyone says that theirΒ favourite books are unique, but I honestly believe that this one is. There are news clippings and articles interspersed between the story, while the story is also split into different sections – each focussing on Evelyn’s life with each husband.

I love this book, not just because of the phenomenal writing and unreliable mc, but because the book subtly goes into the Hollywood and film industry. It really delves into how difficult it can be to stick to who you are when everyone is expecting you to conform to a certain mould within society.

THE MARTIAN

I read this one in the very backend of last year and absolutely loved it! I had already seen the film so I really didn’t expect to love the book as much as I did! This book was a total whirlwind of emotions for me. I cried, I laughed, I got really f’ing mad and I got very worried x10. I was listening to this last year so basically, I paired THE most stressful book with one of the most stressful activities, which evidently was not wise because guess who ended up cutting up her sheets! Sorry, mum!

In summary, this book is ridiculously stressful and you should all read it/

Top 5 Male Friendships

Hey guys! Today I’m coming at you with a fun new list talking about my favourite male friendships in books (and comics)! I feel like, in the blogosphere, we mostly pay homage to our favourite female friendships, and rightly so, but today I thought it might be fun to talk about my favourite brotps!

Remember to click on the covers to get to the Goodreads pages!

MY FAVOURITE MALE FRIENDSHIPS

all malePride and PrejudiceΒ Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (Harry Potter #1)Β The Raven Boys (The Raven Cycle, #1)Β The Sword of Summer (Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard, #1)Β Rocket Raccoon & Groot, Vol. 0: Bite and Bark

DARCY & BINGLEY

I love them. Darcy is so moody and angsty. Seriously, just give him some guyliner and he’ll be all set. And, Bingley is just so light and happy all the time and seriously, how are these two friends? I love it. They are the original good cop, bad cop duo and they are so fucking iconic, I love it.

HARRY & RON

I mean come on, I had to include them in this list. I’ve been following their journeys for as long as I can remember and I regret nothing. These two and excluding Goblet of Fire they have one of the strongest friendships I have ever read about.

GANSEY & RONAN

Let’s be real, these two are beautiful. if you guys have read that scene from the first book, roughly 200 pages in, there’s a wasp scene that I love. It displays their friendship spot on in just a few lines. Gansey is allergic to wasps and Ronan all but flips out when he sees one near Gansey and I love it.

HEARTHSTONE & BLITZEN

I love them. These two have one of my favouriteΒ friendships. Hearthstone is one of my favouriteΒ book characters of all time and so his friendship with Blitzen makes this trilogy 10x better. These two have such a fantastically supportive friendship and I love it – Blitz learnt asl for Hearth and Hearth is constantly worrying about and supporting Blitz’s career goals and inability to go out into the sunlight.

ROCKET RACCOON & GROOT

I mean these guys are iconic at this point, right? I love these two as a duo, they totally balance each other out and I love it. Rocket may get totally frustrated and irritated half the time from Groot’s antics but he is always along for the ride and it’s amazing!

MY TOP 5 FAVOURITE MOVIES

Hey guys, today I’m talkingΒ to you guys about my top 5 favourite movies. These are f course, subject to change but, for now, this is where it’s at!

arrowicon

*in no particular order*

The Legend of Tarzan PosterImage of StardustBrother Bear PosterAtlantis: The Lost Empire PosterThe Age of Adaline Poster

THE LEGEND OF TARZAN

I still haven’t read the original source material or watched the original Disney film. I don’t know why I love this movie so much exactly, but I feel like it has something to do with Margo Robbie being in the film. I am also a big fan of Alexander SkarsgΓ₯rd and his interpretation of the character. Also, something that really hit me while watching this film is that Tarzan doesn’t or can’t completely flatten out and open his hand because duh he’s been living like a Gorilla for his whole life.

STARDUST

Because who doesn’t love this movie? I have always loved this movie and I honestly don’t see that changing anytime soon. It’s fun, it’s different and it’s completely different to most of the other movies I tend to watch.

BROTHER BEAR

This was one of my favourite movies growing up and then for some reason, I just didn’t watch it for 10 or so years. But, a few days ago I ended up rewatching it and absolutely fell in love with the movie all over again. I found upon rewatching it that I still knew most of the dialogue and that I still remembered the entire soundtrack. It was such a fun experience and IΒ hope I’ll be able to re-explore old favourites in the feature!

ATLANTIS: THE LOST EMPIRE

I love this movie. It is amazing and I don’t foresee myself ever not loving this movie. This is just so up my alley, Milo Thatch is just my ultimate mc. He is the perfect Ravenclaw, but I think we could also argue that he is a Hufflepuff; a RavenPuff if you will. He is such a fantastic and soft main character, he just cares so much about other people and it’s lovely to see. But he isn’t the stereotypicalΒ smart character either, in that he clearly shows his emotions which I really appreciate since I feel like often the smarter characters are just shown as rigid mean people.

THE AGE OF ADALINE

This is my movie, the new Beauty and The Beast. I watch this a lot when I’m feeling down I know that this is a pretty simple and straightforward movie but I love it all the same. I really enjoy Blake Lively as a person and find that I also really enjoy her acting so that’s a plus. This is a really fun romance film and now that I’m talking about it I feel like rewatching it again. Whoops.

HONOURABLE MENTIONS

Beauty and the Beast PosterBeauty and the Beast Poster

BEAUTY AND THE BEAST 2017 / 1991

Don’t worry I can still recite the entire movie, dialogue and soundtrack by heart, I just don’t feel the need to watch this film on repeat every day anymore.

Black Panther Poster

BLACK PANTHER

This movie is a step in the right direction and I need more movies like this in the superhero genre. This movie is fantastic and I would die for Shuri.

Love, Simon Poster

LOVE, SIMON

Okay, so I know this hasn’t come out yet but we all know I’m going to love it and weΒ all know I’m going to cry.

TOP 5 POTTERVERSE CHARACTERS (is this bad timing???)

UPDATE: Okay, so don’t @ me because I know this is bad timing. J. K. Rowling is being a dick, but I still want to be able to think about the Harry Potter series positively, otherwise, my whole childhood will go up in flames.

dotbreaker

Hey guys, today I’m coming at you with a bit or a more chill type of post. Today all I want to do is talk about some of my favourite Harry Potter characters. I have a top 3 but today just for shits and gigs I’m going to hurt my brain and fit the PotterverseΒ characters into a list of 5 people.

NUMERO UNO, O GREAT ONE WHAT HAVE THEY DONE TO YOUR FRANCHISE?

Image result for newt scamander gif

^ I mean come on, look at this guy!

Yeah, fight me. I love this guy – he made the first film for me.

He’s fantastically (haha, I crack myself up) kind and he really cares about his animals, something I can’t help but relate to. I feel like this videoΒ (I really recommend watching it) also really made me love him more, Newt Scamander is one of the few characters I can think of that doesn’t display the typical masculine crazy buff form that men usually take on, also, he has feelings and that makes him an immediateΒ A++.

NUMERO DOS, O GREAT ONE ALL YOU WANTED WAS A DRAGON

Image result for hagrid gif shouldn't have said that

^Before Newt Scamander, there was… Hagrid.

Until Newt Scamander’s franchise came around my fave was always Hagrid.

Hagrid, aside from Mrs Weasley, is basically the one who raises Harry. He’s always there for him and can you guess, HE ALSO LOVES ANIMALS I GUESSΒ  I HAVE A FAVES TYPE.

NUMERO OH FFS IT’S NUMBER 3 AND I’M NOT SPANISH

Image result for oliver wood gif

^hell yeah he is!

I mean give me a break. Every time he turns up in the books I just start smiling. All he does is talk about his love for Quidditch and I can’t help but admire his love for the sport. I mean, come on, you can’t just cancel Quidditch!

04 THIS GUY, HE COULD’VE BEEN THE ONE… THE CHOSEN ONE

Image result for neville longbottom gif

^if that isn’t me lol

Of all the characters I relate most to Neville (just call me Nermione, because my other half is stuck in a book). I mean, he is most known for his awesome character development, He doesn’t like violence, he loves his friends but, he will fight you.

05 THIS CHICK. SHE CRAY.

Image result for luna lovegood lion gif

^priorities amirite?

Luna Lovegood is honest and crazy goals. I mean this chick is just the forking loveliest. She’s completely genuine andΒ just such a good friend. I mean, she has a freaking mural of her friends on her ceiling, who does that???

I think there’s a theme with all my faves. They’re all nice people and they’re all genuine. I just love it, you just know who they are without even getting to know them all that well. That may sound shallow, but I don’t mean for it to sound that way (I would obviously love to be friends with all these people), I just really appreciate that they don’t have hidden motives or secrets – they’re just living their best lives and being nice people.

5 Movies I Don’t Like But Everyone Else Does

Hey guys, today I’m coming at you with a new 5 blog post! Today’s post is a bit of a downer, but I’m talking about 5 of the movies I feel like everyone else loves that I didn’t. I’d love to know how you guys feel about the films in the comments!

arrowicon

Scott Pilgrim

Yeah, I feel like this is a YA classic. I read the Scott Pilgrim series last year and I enjoyed them so earlier this year I thought I’d watch it with my mum. Guess what, I couldn’t even finish the film, it was terrible. I feel like I should have known though, I don’t think I’ve ever enjoyed a film the main guy was in, his films are always slow, boring and depressing so I never finish them.

Image result for doctor strange

Doctor Strange

*cue all the gasps* I know, there is an actual Marvel film on my list. Who am I at this point? I have seen this film once, I didn’t even see it in the cinema that is how much I do not care for this character. I hate his fake accent, Doctor Strange is horrible and I love Tony Stark more, also I am one of these people that can’t handle too bright lights or backgrounds in films so this film gives me about 10 different headaches.

Image result for finding nemo

Finding Nemo

Yeah, I know, I’m sorry. I used to enjoy this when I was younger and I can certainly still appreciate the film, but damn I just don’t care. The dad is a pushover and the kid needs to chill out. Don’t get me wrong, I still love the sharks and the turtles, but aside from that I just can’t make myself finish the film.

Image result for clueless

Clueless

I got pretty sick last month and so I was looking for some good films to watch and someone recommended this one to me, but it really didn’t live up to the hype for me. I knew nothing about the films, but I ended up skipping half the film out of boredom. I am not here for people dating their step-siblings (or even ex step0-siblings) and IΒ just didn’t care for the film in general.

Image result for captain america

Captain America Trilogy

What’s this you may ask? ANOTHER MARVEL FILM?? And, it is America’s bae? Yeah…sorry. I just don’t care. I dislikeΒ Steve Rodgers for the same reasons that I hate Superman, they are both too perfect and I am just not here for it.

The first film is pretty good because duh Peggy but the second one was too violent and boring af, and then there’s Civil War, a movie I know I would hate. The only reason I even went to see it was because of Spider-man and the Black Panther

TOP 5 CLASSICS I WANT TO READ

Hey guys, today I am coming at you with my top 5 classics that I want to read! I really enjoy reading classics, but I definitely don’t read as many as I should, and as you guys may know, I love making lists, so of course, that’s what I’ll do. Here’s my top 5 classics for my tbr!

arrowicon

The Book ThiefΒ The Book Thief

Okay, so I started this a couple of years ago and was going to use it for an English project but they gave us the assignment as last minute as possible so I didn’t have enough time to finish it and had to use a different novel and ended up not finishing it. I will get to it eventually, but I doubt it’s going to happen in the next year or two unless you guys force me to.

And Then There Were NoneΒ And Then There Were None

I still can’t believe that I have never read an Agatha Christie book. I’ve seen some Poirot, and I’ve seen that one Doctor Who episode. Basically, I know nothing and I’m clearly an uncultured swine when it comes to classics mystery or any mystery at all.

FrankensteinΒ Frankenstein

How have I not read this one yet? I mean, it’s Frankenstein. I’ve been meaning to pick this one up all month but somehow still haven’t gotten around to it. It’s the perfect Spooky October read and I’m really hoping that I’ll get around to it soon. Also, the audible exclusive is narrated by Dan Stevens and his voice isΒ πŸ‘ŒπŸ‘ŒπŸ‘Œ

The Three MusketeersΒ The Three Musketeers

This is the only book on here where I sort of no nothing about the story, apart from the Agatha Christie mystery. I’ve seen the film with Mr Darcy in it and that’s about it. I know this is named after three musketeers but is really about four. I know that this also involvesΒ good guys and bad guys, and France is thrown in there somewhere.

Anne of Green Gables: A Graphic NovelΒ Anne of Green Gables: A Graphic Novel

I am currently listening to the Audible exclusive of Anne of Green Gables (narrated by Rachel McAdams) at the moment and I am really loving it so of course when I heard there was a graphic novel I had a mini heart attack. Not even lying, I had to leave the room. This book is my childhood so it’s safe to say that I am ridiculously excited to get to this.

5 Big Books I Want To Read

Hey guys today I’m coming at you with a brand new 5 post, because I feel like it’s been ages since I did one of these. The Β Tome Topple was a couple of months a go and it really got me thinking about all the tomes (500+ pages) I had on my tbr that I wanted to read, so I thought I would talk to you guys about them.Β

I won’t be exclusively talking about tomes in this post, because I really don’t have that many of them on my tbr shelf, that I want to read. but I do still have some pretty big books that I’m excited about.

01 Warbreaker, Elantris, The Stromlight Archive, The Alloy of Law… anything by Brandon Sanderson

All 500+ pages

So far I have only read the Mistborn trilogy and the Steelheart trilogy by Brandon Sanderson, but I really want to read more of his works. From what I’ve read so far, I know I will love all of these. Though, as far as The Stormlight Archive goes, it might be a while before I read the books as it’s a ten book series and each book is released every 2 or 3 years… that’s a long wait.

A Feast for Crows (A Song of Ice and Fire, #4)02 A Feast For Crows

852 pages (paperback)

Last month I finished reading A Storm of Swords and I enjoyed it enough to continue. I only own the books up to this one, so I don’t know if I will continue the series, but I kind of figure that since I am already 3 books in I should probably continue with the series.

Have you guys read the ASOIAF series? Should I keep going?Β

The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August

03Β The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August

405 pages (hardcover)

I first heard about this from Regan on Booktube and I honestly could not tell you why I haven’t picked it up yet. THis book sounds amazing, and I’m kind of disappointed in myself for not picking it up.

We Are the Ants04 We Are The Ants

455 pages (hardcover)

Yeah… I know, I still haven’t read this one. I even own it so I don’t know what my problem is to be honest. It sounds amazing and everybody loves it so I really need to up my game.

The Sacred Lies of Minnow Bly

05Β The Sacred Lies of Minnow Bly

416 pages (paperback)

This book sounds weird af so of course I have to read it. It’s only just over 400 pages, so really I have no excuse do I?

5 Blogging Tips

Hey guys today I’m coming at you with some blogging tips, I’m hoping this post isn’t completely redundant because obviously you guys are bloggers. Anyway, so most of these are pretty obvious but I think sometimes we all need a reminder so hopefully this post is somewhat helpful.

arrowicon

Image result for world ending gif

01 Don’t freak out if you don’t have a post ready, the world won’t end

If you have a weekly schedule then it’s okay to miss a day every now and then. You should never stress out about whether or not you have a blog post ready to go out. If you’re not in the mood to blog, or you just don’t have the time then yo shouldn’t worry about blog posts. Your blog will still be there, and the world isn’t going to end if you miss a day or two.

arrowicon

Image result for do what you want gif

02 You Don’t Have To Write Reviews… Actually, Just Write What You Want

Write what you want to write. Personally, I hate reviews so unless I have arcs or I really loved the book then I rarely write reviews. It doesn’t matter that you’re a book blog or a movie blog, reviews aren’t all that importand, and all they really worth it if you don’t enjoy writing them?

arrowicon

Image result for im so busy gif

03 Take advantage of the scheduling option – its worth it if you have a busy schedule

This goes hand in hand with my first point, if you know you’re going to be busy then you should take advantage of the scheduling option. I schedule all of my blog posts, they also serve as a motivator because if I know that if a post is goig to be ublished whether it’s finished or not then I feel a lot more motivated to write it.

Also, it’s just handy if you can’t access WordPress at school or if you know you’ll be busy on a particular day/ month.

arrowicon

Image result for throwing book out the window gif

04 You don’t have to only talk about books

I know that a lot of people stuggle with this and I get it. When I first started my blog I was 100% a book blog but I’ve always wanted to talk about other things, but I tend to do that less. As much as I love books I do also enjoy talking about tv shows and movies, and I occaisionally even talk about my life. So, this tip is basically that it’s your blog so write what you want to write.

arrowicon

05 Your followers will be there for you; talk to themΒ

Your followers follow you for a reason, so talk to them. If you’re sturggling with bloggi or something in your personal life, or there’s something you’re unsure of talk to us about it. Even if you’re struggling with an essay and it’s due tomorrow, I can guarantee someone will read and give you help.

Honestly, we are here for you and we’re always happy to talk.
