5 Books I Want To Read In Winter

Hey guys, today I’m coming at you with the top 5 books I’d like to read this season! I’m not much of a seasonal reader, but, I am already freezing my touche off, so I tried to pick “warmer” reads that I figured would make me happy.Β

Legendary (Caraval, #2)Β Β Three Dark Crowns (Three Dark Crowns #1)Β Β The Song of AchillesΒ Β The Final Empire (Mistborn, #1)Β Β The Mermaid

LEGENDARY

I will admit that we are only 2 days into Winter when I am writing this and I’m already listening to the audio. I haven’t had the time to go to the bookstore lately so, I caved and bought the audiobook. So far, I think it’s really interesting and I’ve been having a really fun time listening to it!

THREE DARK CROWNS

I am roughly 5 pages into this and so far I am mostly confused. There are soo many characters already and I’m hoping it starts to make sense soon. I don’t know if this is going to be my kind of book, but I am willing to give it a great shot!

THE SONG OF ACHILLES

I am planning on reading this as part of the Marvel-A-Thon as my Thor pick and I’m super excited to get to it! I have never heard a bad thing about this book and it’s been a while since I got a good cry in from a book so I think this book is well in order! I’m really excited about this one and can’t wait to get to it!

THE FINAL EMPIRE

I’d love to re-read the whole trilogy but I don’t know how unrealistic that is, so I would at least like to re-read book one. I love this trilogy and think Brandon Sanderson creates really amazing worlds so I’m super excited to finally re-read these books!

THE MERMAID

If you know anything about me, you know that I loved Christina Henry’s Lost Boy so of course, I am excited about her newest book! I will admit that I’ve never actually seen The Little Mermaid, but I am really intrigued to see if this is anything like that with a sort of crossover with The Greatest Showman. I honestly have no idea what this is about, other than that it’s written by Christina Henry.

5 BOOKS I WANT TO READ IN AUTUMN // I BRANCH OUT IN THIS ONE

Hey guys, today I’m coming at you with all the book I want to read this Autumn (March-May). I am not a seasonal reader though, so don’t expect Autumnal reads in this post!

I am not currently in school at the moment so I think I might try adding some longer books to this list, we’ll see how we go!

Remember: The book covers will take you to the Goodreads pages & red writing is all links!

1. Misery –Β  StephenΒ King

Misery
This will be the year I finally read King I refuse to fail in this. I have considered taking part in Aprilius Maximus’ Stephen King project and while I don’t think I will completely start from the beginning with his books I do think I might try to start from the beginning after I read a few of his suspense novels. I know basically nothing about this book other than that my mum said IΒ would like it, especially if I want to get into King and what mum says goes and I’m hoping to get to it soon!

You can find the Goodreads page for the Stephen King Project here.

2. Jane Eyre –Β Charlotte BrontΓ«

Jane Eyre

Okay so I am currently reading this but I wanted to add Jane Eyre to the list anyway just to keep myself accountable! Emma @ Emmareadstoomuch was talking about how much she loves Jane Eyre last month and she really inspired me to pick it up!

So far I’m really loving it and think this is definitely my favourite cover that I’ve found so far! I am also really hoping to get this read before My Plain Jane (My Lady Jane #2) comes out in June, I think, because it will be based around Jane Eyre and we all know how the Lady Janies twist stories and make us laugh. I can’t wait.

3.Β Children of the Knight – Michael J. Bowler

Children of the Knight

I started this a few months ago and was really loving it but as per usual I ended up putting it down and getting really distracted, but I have been really feeling watching Merlin, so I feel like this might be a good way to still hang out with the characters without having to watch any tv because ya girl’s got a bad track record.

This book seems 100% up my alley being really well-received on Goodreads and an LGBT King Arthur retelling. Hopefully, I’ll be able to smash this one out in a day or two and just completely fall in love with this one! If all goes to plan I should have a review of this one up for you guys in a few days! 🀞🀞🀞

4.Β The Wicked Cometh – Laura Carlin

The Wicked Cometh

Okay so I have only known about this book for a week and I am already so prepared to love this book. A few days ago I wrote a post called Am I Sick of YA? where Avery @ Redrocketpanda recommended this to me after I complained that I didn’t have any good mysteries to read.

The Wicked Cometh sounds fantastic, Avery described it asΒ a f/f historical fiction murder mystery and from that description I was hooked. I pretty much immediately put this is on hold at the library and hope it will end up being the 2018 release I read in March!

5.Β The Princess Saves Herself in this One – Amanda Lovelace

The Princess Saves Herself in this One (Women are Some Kind of Magic, #1)

Yep, you’re really seeing this. Poetry.

Who am I? Who have I become? Is this the real life or okay, I’ll stop now…

So, I’ve decided this year that I really want to make an effort to try and branch out with my reading, hence the title. I’ve never really been one for poetry and I’ve pretty much just been that person who heard one person say it was dumb and so I stayed away from the genre from day dot.

I’ve heard some stuff about the second book of poetry in this series and so, me being me I bought the first one because I MUST READ EVERYTHING IN CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER!

MY TOP 8 2018 RELEASES TO READ IN 2018

Hey guys, today I’m coming at you with my top 2018 releases. My goal for 2018 is to read more 2018 releases so I’m making this list to keep myself accountable and to show you guys what I want to read this year!

Beneath the Sugar Sky (Wayward Children, #3)Β The Hazel Wood

BENEATH THE SUGAR SKYΒ // THE HAZEL WOOD

I am currently re-reading the Wayward ChildrenΒ series so I can get hyped for Beneath The Sugar Sky. As far as I”m aware this is the last book but I have heard some rumours that there might be some more books, so I am pretty excited!

I am also incredibly excitedΒ for The Hazel Wood, if you were hanging around my blog last year than you know I got pretty into dark fairytale type stories so when I heard about this book I knew I had to read it. GET HYPED PEOPLE.

Thunderhead (Arc of a Scythe, #2)Β The Threads We Weave

THUNDERHEAD //Β  THE THREADS WE WEAVEΒ

Last year I read Scythe and loved it so of course, I have to read this. The cover looks amazing and the first book was just soo good so I need this now, please.

Ah, The Threads We Weave, I need to read you know. I love The Starbound trilogy so of course, I want to read this.

The Cruel Prince (The Folk of the Air, #1)Β My Plain Jane (The Lady Janies, #2)

THE CRUEL PRINCE // MY PLAIN JANE

Okay, so I wasn’t sure if I was going to read The Cruel Prine or not because Fae are not my thing but whatever I’ve only heard good things so…

My Lady Jane was hilarious and the fact that these ladies are coming back to write about more lady Janies never fails to make my day better.

Legendary (Caraval, #2)Β Leah on the Offbeat

LEGENDARY // LEAH ON THE OFFBEAT

So, we have a theme with this post. Most of these books are in some way part of a series.Β  and so, because Caraval was one of my favourite books of 2017 I absolutely have to read this one.

I don’t actually know how I feel about this one. Sure, I want more Simon and sure, I love Leah But, I still haven’t read Upside and I feel like I just have to read ALbertlli’s novels in publication order (I don’t know, I’m weird).

BLOG CLEAN UP! + My 2018 BLOGGING GOALS

Hey guys today I’m coming at you with a blog clean up post! It’s a new year, I’ve finally graduated high school and I’ve now been blogging for a year and a half.

This post is mainly for me to discuss my new blogging goals for the year and for me to ask something of you guys. Before I get into my blogging goals for 2018, I wanted to ask you guys a question, no pressure if you haven’t been subscribed for long.

What blog posts do you guys most like to read from my blog? How do you think I could improve my blog?

Here’s my blog survey!

asdfASDgoalsfeature

And now for the goals!

Current amount of followers: As I’m writing this (the 27th) I have 238 followers

Followers Goal by 2018: By the end of 2018 I would love to have 400 followers but honestly if I just get over 300 I will be so happy!

THE READING GOALS

1. Okay, so obviously I have my year-long Harry Potter readathon, which you can read about here, but I also have another goal for the year. And the Beat The Backlist challenge which you can read about here.

2. As of now, I don’t know what number I will be rooting for on Goodreads next year but I’m thinking either 1, 50 or 52.

3. My main goal for the year is a big one though is to only read the books that were on my shelf, from the library/borrowed or a 2018 release.

This is because I want to be able to actually read the books on my shelves but I also want to read whatever comes out this year because I think I read about 5 2017 releases last year and that’s pretty lacklustre for me.

Along with reading all these books (and probably listening to them on the bus to work but whatever), I will hopefully be watching the films along with them.

I would also love to be able to flip through some of the illustrated editions as I listen to the audiobook because I still haven’t gone through them.

dotbreaker

I would love for you guys to join me in my lowkey chill readathon because I know I haven’t read the books in a while and a bunch of you guys have never read the books before. So, I am excited to get into this series with you guys, having discussions here on my blog about the series throughout the year, and hopefully, you guys could join me in watching the films too!

5 Books I Want To Read In Summer

Hey guys, today I’m coming at you with a seasonal post, talking about all the top 5 books I want to read in Summer this December – February. LetΒ me know if you plan on reading these books this season too!

arrowicon

Unearthed (Unearthed, #1)

UNEARTHED

December 1 in Australia // January 9 in the US

I met Amie Kaufman yesterday (I am still screaming) and so I got to get my copy of Unearthed signed, along with my copies of the Starbound trilogy. I have been waiting for Amie Kaufman and Megan Spooner to team up again and I can’t wait for this series!

The Threads We Weave

THE THREADS WE WEAVE

January 9

So, we have a trend…

As soon as Amie Kaufman announced this on her Instagram I immediately knew I had to read it. She and Meagan Spooner also wrote another Starbound novella a few years ago but I think this one is written before any of the characters meet and I am ultimate trash for the trilogy so duh I’m going to read it.

Also, you can get this emailed to you if you send in your pre-order receipt for Unearthed.

The Hazel Wood

THE HAZEL WOOD

January 30

As you guys have probably realised, I am have been pretty into retellings and anything related to fairytales/lore lately. It sounds fantastic and right up my alley, it sounds like a dark fairytale and I feel like I haven’t read a properly dark story in a while so sign me up.

The Power

THE POWER

So this book actually came out last year but recently it has gotten a bit of hype, which is how I found out about it. This novel sounds absolutely fantastic, it’s set in a world in which all women develop the ability to electrocute people and therefore there is a massive gender power shift and I really need to read it.

27 Hours (The Nightside Saga, #1)

27 HOURS

I actually received an arc of this a few months ago but because of classes, I wasn’t really able to read it. This was my most anticipated novel for 2017, but as more people have read it, a lot more negative reviews have come out. That being said, I know next to nothing about this book, other than I think there is an ace and a deaf character and that is so exciting!
