Worst Reads of 2016

Controversial blog posts are always my favourite to read – I always find it really interesting to see what books people haven’t loved when they may be my favourite book.

Carry OnΒ by Rainbow RowellΒ

I hated this book, I just can’t get behind it. If you have to know the plot of another series to understand this book then what is the point? It’s too much like Harry Potter, and I know that’s the point but I just can’t do it. If I want to read HP I will, this book is ridculous and I really and truly despise it.

MY REVIEW OF CARRY ON

The SidekicksΒ by Will KostakisΒ

This book was pretty meh, I was pretty excited about this one. I had heard good things about this novel from reviewers that I trust, however, this book just didn’t float my boat. It was by no means terrible, it just wasn’t for me. This book is unique though, There is an LGBT character and it is also set in Australia which doesn’t happen as often as I wish it would.

All in all, this book just wasn’t for me. It was too slow and I could not connect with any of the characters.

Wonder Woman, Volume 1: BloodΒ by Brian Azzarello

I read this earlier on in the year in the hopes of finding out more about Wonder Woman’s story and background. I had a bit of trouble following the story and I didn’t really like the art style.I do plan on watching the film next yearΒ and I may even try a different WW series but this one just isn’t for me.

A Thousand Pieces of You (Firebird #1) by Claudia Gray

Okay, I have read the second book in this trilogy and I do plan on finishing the trilogy by the end of the month if I get the time. The only reason I have continued on with the series is because of the plot and the places the characters go to – apart from that I really don’t like the books. The main character is insufferable, the plot is predictable and the romance is cringeworthy.

I have reviewed this book and the sequel if you want to know my further thought on the series so far.

MY REVIEW OF A THOUSAND PIECES OF YOU + TEN THOUSAND SKIES ABOVE YOU

Finnikin of the Rock (Lumatere Chronicles #1) by Melina Marchetta

Everything about this novel was wrong for me. I didn’t like the world, I hated and couldn’t connect with any of the characters and there was no plot.

If you want overbearing romance and little to no plot this is your book. I had high hopes for this book but I think I’m one of the few people that just didn’t care for it.

Finnikin of the Rock (Lumatere Chronicles, #1)

Safe Haven by Nicholas Sparks

I’ll be honest, this is one of my favurite films. So naturally I wanted to read the original text, I’d never read a Nicholas Sparks book either o I just figured why the hell not, everyone else seems to love them! But, unfortunately I really hated this book and don’t plan on picking up any other Sparks nvels any time soon.
