Narwhal: Unicorn of the Sea

Narwhal: Unicorn of the Seaย byย Ben Clanton

3.5/5

I received a free copy from the publisher through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This book has 3 short stories (and a song!) that centre around Narwhal the narwhal and his new jellyfish friend.

Narwhal is a crazy optimistic narwhal who, in his travels meets Jelly a serious jellyfish. These complete strangers have only one thing in common. Waffles. These two love waffles, seriously it gets crazy. The two then go on 2 great adventures in the ocean and create a song because what else are you going to do when you create a brand new and awesome friendship?

I only gave this a 3 stars but that doesnโ€™t mean I didnโ€™t love it. I was smiling the entire time I was reading this, it made me very happy.

This is REALLY short, itโ€™s only 64 pages so thereโ€™s not really thatmuch to talk about. I just have to say though that this book, although it reads incredibly quickly made me smile for hours after I finished it. Narwhal is just soo optimistic, chuck out your calming colouring books and just read this. Itโ€™s a graphic novel so itโ€™s mostly just pictures with roughly 8 words per page give or take. Even though itโ€™s just a childrens grapic novel its so fun. AThis is just a nice, enjoyable read and I seriously recommend it.

As I said before there arenโ€™t too many words so this is good for young kids, even if they are too young to be able to read this by themselves this is a great before bed book. The dialogue between Narwhal and the jellyfish is fun, short and simple (easy for little kids). Itโ€™s nice and short, a good book for kids.

The major thing that struck me about this book is Narwhalโ€™s optimism, it was like whiplash. Heโ€™s just soo happy all the time and itโ€™s hilarious. Narwhal just wants to be in a pod with all of his friends and eat waffles with his new jellyfish friend.

I canโ€™t wait to see this in stores and see how the physical copy turned out because I read the arc on my kindle and only got to see the pictures in black and white.
