APRIL WRAP UP // I legit had no energy to read because my insomnia took over this month and I turned into a zombie ๐Ÿ˜ซ (sorry)

Hi friends, welcome back to my blog! Today I’m bringing you a shorter wrap up thatn I’d like but April ended up being a crzy busy month and I didn’t read anywhere near as much as I was hoping to. I had some uni assessments and some serious insomnia problems so honestly April was a tired blur for me, but I managed to somehow read 9 things throughout the month, so I can still scrounge up a wrap up for you all!

Also, just a quick question/side note. How do you all deal with feeling like you aren’t reading enough? I’ve been dealing with this for years, but over the last couple of months it’s really hit me hard, especially since I literally run a book blog, and I don’t really know how to deal with the pressure that I’m putting on myself. I know that I’m a slow reader with a short attention span but for whatever reason I still expect myself to read 15+ books every month and still get everything else in my life done. So, do you also put these pressures on yourself? And how do you deal with it, if you do?

*Also, another side note. I mentioned my insomnia in the title and I think I’ve mentioned it before on here but, I just want to quickly stress that I don’t want to see any comments about how if I’m an insomniac why don’t I just read when I’m not sleeping? That’s really not how it works with me. I had some serious insomnia flare ups in April to the point where I was going through 48+ hour episodes without any sleep (while also going to uni + doing assessments) and really I was a zombie for most of the month to the point where I couldn’t hold coversations or walk straight most of the time, so yeah… I just wanted to put that out there. โค

MY QUARTERLY READING STATS 2021: January, February, March ๐Ÿ“šโค๐Ÿ‘Œ

Hi everyone, welcome back to my blog! I’ve gotten really into going through my reading stats this year and I figured that since techinically the first quarter os the year is now officially over and we’re going into April it might be fun to do a quick summary of the first 3 months of the year. Anyway, that was super long-winded way of saying that I’m doing reading stats for the first three months of 2021!

MICHAEL B JORDAN AND ROMANCES ๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’• – 2021 Love/Hate Challenge

HI everyone, welcome back to my blog, today I’m going into depth about the books and movies Rebecca picked for me in March, following the theme of favourites! In March we decided to recommend out favourite authors and actors so she got a lot of Keanu Reeves and I got a lot of Michael B Jordan! This month Rebecca picked some real bangers, all out of my comfort zone so get ready to see me struggle! But, to be fair, I think I was a little mean with some of my picks too, so all’s fair…

Find my other reviews for our previous Love/Hate challenges!

Make sure to check out Rebeccaโ€™s wrap up to read her thoughts on this monthโ€™s theme!

MARCH WRAP UP | Not a whole lot of reading, but a whole lot of uni

Hi friends, welcome back to my blog! Today I’m going though my March wrap up and talking about everything I read and watched throughout the month! March was a really busy month for me and I found that I didn’t have a lot of time to do much of anything outside of work and school. But, I’m currently in lockdown in my city and on top of that, I’m down to only 2 jobs so hopefully that means I’ll have at least a couple more hours to either catch up on sleep (which my Insomiac-ass really needs) or to do something that isn’t uni related. ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿคž

It’s been a long month and I’m glad it’s over but I have a feeling that April is going to be just as busy, if not more. I’m still going to try and post a couple of times a month – also look out for a super cool recommendations post i have coming up at the end of April because I’m genuinely so excited to chat with you all about it! I’m also thinking about gradually doing more tv reviews throughout the year, along the lines of my Glee season 1 review, so let me know if you’d be interested in seeing that! (and also maybe suggest some shows for me to check out?)

No tbr wrap up this month as I literally didn’t get around to reading any of them!

READING OUT OF MY COMFORT ZONE ๐Ÿค”โ‰๐Ÿ“š๐ŸŽฌ – 2021 Love/Hate Challenge

Hi everyone, welcome back to my blog and welcome to my challenge wrap up for February! If you don’t already know, Rebecca and I are doing a year-long challenge where we pick 2 books and 2 movies for the other person to read and we have to review them ourselves and also decide which we think the other person loved and which one they hated.

This month we picked content that was out of the other person’s comfort zone and oh boy did Rebecca succeed! ๐Ÿ˜‚ I’m not gonna lie, when I saw the books she chose for me I got a little scared!

Make sure to check out Rebeccaโ€™s wrap up to read her thoughts on this monthโ€™s theme!

FEBRUARY WRAP UP โ‡€ 29 books in 28 days! Desperately trying to evade a reading slump ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ“šโค

Hi friends, welcome back to my blog! Today Iโ€™m coming to you with my (shorter than last month’s, but still pretty long) February wrap up! Iโ€™ve decided that this year I want to do my wrap ups differently and that theyโ€™ll be spread across 3 different blog posts so expect my Love/’Hate challenge wrap up , my Feb stats and my tbr to be coming your way in the next few days!

So… Feburary… How was the shortest month of the year also the longest??? I worked a whole lot and I started prepping for uni and I got very stressed and then I got too relaxed and then I got anxious about not being stressed and then I started getting into a reading slump and then I *just* barely escaped a slump and then I almost got into another one and now we’re here.

So, it’s been a long month but I read something every day and I genuinely enjoyed what I read so I’m super excited for March even though I know I will be even busier than I’ve been in months. Heads up, there won’t be any crazy challenge for March because I’ll be starting uni so no more 31 books in 31 days posts because I’ll be lucky if I finish even two books.

JANUARY WRAP UP โ‡€ I read 44 books in 31 days! ๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿ™ˆ

Hi friends, welcome back to my blog! Today I’m coming to you with my (rather long) January wrap up! I’ve decided that this year I want to do my wrap ups differently and that they’ll be spread across 3 different blog posts… is that too excessive?

I’ll still have my usual cohesive wrap up, which is what you’re reading now, where I’ll review everything I read and everything I watched (which this month wasn’t much). And then I’ll have a monthly blog post reviewing the books and movies for my monthly challenge I’m doing with Rebecca. On top of that, I’m also going to start doing a monthly wrap up featuring my reading statistics for the month. This will feature graphs from my StoryGraph profile as well as from my reading spread sheets over on Notion. So, I hope you will all find them interesting since I’ve really enjoyed thinking abou them and diving deeper into my reading this month!

As for my quick summary of how January went for me, it was realllly long! I did a ridiculous amount of reading, far surpassing a book a day and often reading 2 or 3 per day. I also participated in the third round of the Graphicsathon so I got 7 graphics read during the mini-round! I started back at work, ran a readathon, house sat for some family friends and got super stuck into the Fast and Furious franchise. All in all, I’d say it was a success!
