The New Releases Book Tag β†  Allonsy Original Tag πŸ’•

Hi All, welcome back to my blog! It’s Tag Monday and today I’m shaking it up with an original tag! I haven’t done one of these in a while and I have a few others in the works but recently I’ve been really wanting to talk about new releases, but couldn’t think how to without writing a review so I looked up new releases book tags but couldn’t fine any. So I decided to just make one myself!

You can find my new releases shelf on Goodreads here.

CATCHING UP WITH THE MCU! // JUNE BUDDY-CHALLENGE

allonsy_chats_discussionsfeature

Hey guys, welcome back to my blog! This is just going to be a short announcement post on my blog to announce that Destiny and I will be watching all the movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in June!

Destiny recently mentioned that she hasn’t seen all the movies in that world and I haven’t been watching many movies lately so I thought this would be a great excuse to start from the very beginning of the MCU all the way to the most recent release! Feel free to join us in our re-watch, I’d love to know all your thoughts on the MCU movies!

JANE LYNCH: A favouriteΒ book featuring a character on the LGBTQIA+ spectrum

a havenEvery Heart a Doorway (Wayward Children, #1)Β  Β People Like UsΒ  Β Wild BeautyΒ  Β The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo

I don’t know that I really have a favourite lgbtqia+ book (there are too many amazing books to choose from) but, these are some of the most recent ones I’ve read that I’ve loved! I’ve tried to add books from different genres to my list and I think these have all been really fun!

LADY JANE GREY: A short book that packed a punch

The Giver (The Giver, #1)

This is one of my favourite books ever. The Giver hits me every time I read it. It’s like being hit by a truck and then run over by a bus of screaming children… but in a good way.

The Giver is really fun and really smart and I love it more each time I read it.

JANE AUSTEN: Favourite heroine in a classic book

Persuasion

I really want to be cliche and say Elizabeth Bennet but instead, I’m only going to be partially cliche and go with Anne Elliot from Persuasion by the Jane Austen. I could’ve said so many other characters like Meg Murry or Anne Shirley but, I think Anne is a more relatable character. Anne is strong and resilient but always copping theΒ short end of the stick. She’s really sensible and always taking care of her family, but like all of us, she is also impressionable and easily persuaded (hence the title) but by the end of the book she develops as a character and comes into the world a better person.

Wow, I never realised how much I looked up to her until writing this.

JANE EYRE: Your favourite retelling

Lost Boy

Is this even a question at this point? Hi, if you’re new to my blog, my name is Ellyn, I am obsessed with Peter Pan and I have no shame.

Lost Boy is honestly one of my favourite reads of 2017 and by far the best retellingΒ I have ever read and I don’t understand why more people haven’t read it. It’s basically the story of Peter Pan from the perspective of one of the Lost Boys. It also really highlights the bad sides of Peter Pan that you definitely don’t see in the Disney film, which is one of the reasons I love it.

CALAMITY JANE: Your most anticipated release

a havenEscaping from Houdini (Stalking Jack the Ripper #3)Β  Β My Plain Jane (The Lady Janies, #2)Β Β Β Undying (Unearthed, #2)Β  Β The Mermaid

I mean, there are just so many. I think my top 2018 release would have to be Escaping From Houdini but, honestly, I am looking forward to so many good books this year!

JANE FONDA: A character who upholds feminist ideals

The Nowhere Girls

For this one, I’m going to go with the group of girls called The Nowhere Girls from the book of the same name. These girls are all amazing and the book is about them trying to find a voice and defend themselves in a town that doesn’t believe/& shames rape victims. It’s a really great book that gives a voice to women and shows how amazing we can be when we work together.

JANE KRAKOWSKI: An underrated book you wish more people would read

The Golden Door (The Three Doors Trilogy, #1)

The Golden Door is amazing and you should go and read it right now. I know that I talk about this book a lot but it is honestly worth it! I re-read this trilogy every year or two and it never gets old. I love the characters and I love his unique and interesting the books are, it just makes me really happy whenever I read it!

THE LADY JANIES: Two or more authors you wish would write a book together

haven haven haven haven havenA Wrinkle in TimeΒ  Β Every Heart a Doorway (Wayward Children, #1)

We all have an author duo dream team. for a lot of people it’s Adam Silvera and Becky Albertalli, but for me, hands down, it has to be Madeleine L’Engle & Seanan McGuire. I love their books and I think their book baby would be amazing! I love L’Engle’s writing and I think Seanan McGuire always writes really self-aware and interesting stories so combining their ideas would be amazing!

Adele Book Tag

I am obsessed with two things in life: Adele and books. Naturally, I had to combine the two. Some of these questions you can vary the questions to make them easier but I answered all variations, you don’t have to do this if you don’t want to.

I don’t think this has been done, sorry if it has.

01 Daydreamer – A character that will always be there for their significant other.

You can find him sittin’ on your doorstep

Waiting for a surprise

And he will feel like he’s been there for hours

And you can tell that he’ll be there for life

Percy Jackson. Percy will always be there for Annabeth, I mean come on you guys read the Heroes of Olympus series right?

percy jackson cover 1

02 Hello – A book you read and didn’t like or DNF’d (did not finish) and would like to try and read again.

Hello, it’s me

I was wondering if after all these years you’d like to meet

To go over everything

A Thousand Pieces of You (Firebird trilogy). I read this earlier in the year after DNFing it a few years ago and unfortunately didn’t enjoy it the second time around.

17234658

03 Chasing Pavements – A couple you really want to be together but doubt that it will happen (otp) or a ship you really don’t like (notp).

Should I give up?

Or should I just keep on chasin’ pavements?

Otp – Artemis Fowl and Holly Short. So far I’ve only read the first two book but these two have THE BEST banter ever, they’re hilarious together!

Notp – Matthew and Robin (Cormoran Strike series). Guys, Matthew makes me want to claw my eyes out. This guy has nor respect for Robin, Robin needs to sort out her shit and dump his ass.

04 Tired – A Book/series/author that just didn’t live up to the hype.

I’m tired of trying

Your teasing ain’t enough

Fed up of biding your time

When I don’t get nothing back

And for what, and for what, and for what

When I don’t get nothing back

Boy I’m tired

Book – Fangirl. Whoa, controversial answer. I read this in 2015 and detested it from page 1.

Series – Shatter Me. I loved the first book but it all went downhill from there.

Author – Cassandra Clare. I’m going to get so much hate for this but I just really dislike her books.

05 Make You Feel My Love – A book you’d go to extensive trouble to get.

I’d go hungry; I’d go black and blue,

I’d go crawling down the avenue.

The Raven King (The Raven Cycle). I didn’t go to extensive measures for this but I did preorder it which is something I’ve only ever done twice in my life.

ravenkingfeature

06 Someone Like You – An author/series or world you said you wouldn’t read anymore from but you couldn’t resist.

I hate to turn up out of the blue uninvited

But I couldn’t stay away, I couldn’t fight it.

I had hoped you’d see my face and that you’d be reminded

That for me it isn’t over.

Works in the Harry Potter world and the Percy Jackson world. J K Rowling has come out with soo many Harry Potter books lately and I feel like she’s money grabbing (don’t hate me I’m sorry) and why oh why is Rick writing another series that Percy is in? I know Percy isn’t a main the The Trials of Apollo but he’s still in and to me it counts.

Anyway, so I’m obviously going to be reading the other books in these worlds because I have zero self-control.

07 Set Fire to The Rain – A book that got you out of a reading slump.

It was dark and I was over

Until you kissed my lips and you saved me

Twilight and the Obsidian (the Lux series). They both have a simplistic writing style and are quite cheesy, perfect for a reading slump.

08 Don’t You Remember? – A book/series that you loved but when you reread it you didn’t like it.

But don’t you remember?

Don’t you remember?

The reason you loved me before,

Baby, please remember me once more

Hush Hush. I read this when I was younger and completely loved it but when I reread it a few years later I had some problems with the main character and her love interest. It’s a really fast and gripping book I just can’t approve of Patch, I’m sorry.

HUSH HUSH 1 2 3 copier

09 All I Ask – A finale you really loved.

If this is my last night with you

Hold me like I’m more than just a friend

Give me a memory I can use

Take me by the hand while we do what lovers do

It matters how this ends

Cause what if I never love again?

Winter (The Lunar Chronicles). This was seriously the longest and most amazing finale I have ever read.

41SSIYbE2LL._SX331_BO1,204,203,200_

10 Sweetest Devotion – A book you didn’t expect to like

The way I’m running with you honey

Means we can break every law

I find it funny that you’re the only

One I never looked for

A Game of Thrones (A Song of Ice and Fire). I didn’t expect to like this book AT ALL but I loved it and you guys should seriously give it a try.
