WHAT I’M CURRENTLY LISTENING TO! // ft. My love of audiobooks

Hey guys! Today I’m coming at you with what is sort of like my audiobook tbr but, also like what I’m currently listening to and it’s also like maybe I don’t know what I’m doing and what is this intro at this point??? Anywayyy, AUDIOBOOKS! Enjoy!

WHAT I’M CURRENTLY LISTENING TO

I recently watched Merphy Napier talk about the Divergent trilogy on her channel and I thought her views on the trilogy were really interesting. I’ve linked the video (here) so you can watch it if you haven’t already but, I thought her book talk was really interesting. I’ll be honest, I haven’t even thought about the trilogy since I read the first book back in 2014 but the way Merphy talked about the books and Tris as a character really made me want to go back and finish the trilogy, or at least re-read the first book.

I am currently writing this on June 28th, so I might already be finished the book by the time this goes live but, so far I am part way through chapter ten (roughly 125 pages in) and really enjoying it. I wasn’t sure I would even make it through the first chapter because of the way everyone has been trashing the trilogy over the years, but I think that I might even continue the trilogy once I finish this one.

Actually, while I’m on it, I’d love to know if you guys actually finished the trilogy/ read any of the books or if our community trashing the series turned you off reading the books?

WHAT I PLAN ON PICKING UP SOON

So, after I finish listening to Divergent, if I don’t pick up Insurgent straight away, I will probably be picking up some of these (^). I recently read volume 1 of Wires and Nerve and it really made me want to go back and re-read The Lunar Chronicles so hopefully, I’ll be getting to Scarlet soon (Yo, Rebecca, hit me up if you still want to buddy read!).

Throughout this month I also hope to get to the audiobook for The Final Empire, which you should already know if you read my surprise tbr for the month! I have already listened to this before and I loved it so I can’t wait to re-listen to this one!

And then we have The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle, The Rules of Backyard Croquet & Scythe which I’m hoping to get to sometime in the next month or two!

I haven’t done one of these in soo long so it’s about time I actually let you guys know what I’m reading! Let me know if you want to see more of these posts more often on my blog!

WHAT ARE YOU CURRENTLY READING?

I am really digging the dark contemporaries at the moment so I figured this was pretty perfect for that category. I am only roughly 30 pages into this already and LOVING IT! I know it’s going to be a really hard read and it’s probably going to make me cry and I’m going to want to yell but, I am also really excited to continue it, I think it’s going to be a really important book.

WHAT DID YOU RECENTLY FINISH?

I recently saw the movie adaptation of The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society and LOVED IT! So, pretty much straight after seeing the film and walked straight into the bookstore (something I never do) to buy it. I really enjoyed the book and will definitely be re-reading it in the future. Though, I will say that I did prefer the movie because the book was told in letters and sometimes that narrative format felt like it really stunted the story at times (also the ending felt so rushed!). I definitely recommend it if you haven’t picked it up yet!

WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU’LL READ NEXT?

Somehow I haven’t read this yet… I’ve owned this for a couple of months but never picked it up. So, it’s about time! I have no idea how I feel about this one, (because I’ve heard that the guard Iko hangs out with, is a brat) but I’m hoping that I will at least love the art style!

This post is entirely Emma’s fault, she pulled me in with her charm and her lists and now I’m here making lists and being a great deal happier. I hope you don’t mind, Emma, but I did use your book categories!

So, here it is guys, my official physical tbr, as of today, Tuesday the 25th of April. I am pretty excited to finally see all of my physical tbr in list form (you guys, I LOVE lists). I’v e decided to make this into a segment because I enjoyed writing the first blog post so much!

What Am I Currently Reading?

I am currently reading Dreadnought by April Daniels. I’m really enjoying this book but some aspects of this are really hitting home for me so it’s taking me a bit longer to get through.

These are the books I’m anticipating or have just heard about and really want to read!

Sovereign (Nemesis #2) by April Daniels

At the time that I’m writing this I’m still reading book one but so far I am really enjoying it so of course I am excitd to read book 2!

Spider-Man/Deadpool, Volume 2 by Scott Aukerman & Gerry Duggan…etc.

Oh my lord, I am in love with this series. I know I’ve only read volume 1 but holy cow I know this is defiitely going to be a favourite comic series for me.

Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Volume 2 by Brian Michael Bendis

I read volume 1 in March and while I didn’t love it I did really enjoy the character of Miles Morales so I’m still pretty excited for volume 2.

Sofia Khan Is Not Obliged (Sofia Khan #1) by Ayisha Malik

Guys, the blurb says everything. It sounds really good and I’ve heard nothing bt praise so I can’t wait to pick it up.

There aren’t enough deaf characters in books so this is definitely in my top 5 most anticipated for 2017.

I have read The Lunar Chronicles but when my library finally gets this in I’ll definitely be picking it up.

Beauty and the Beast: Lost in a Book by Jennifer Donnelly

This sounds amazing, I mean it’s part of the Beauty and the Beast world so of course I’m excited about it.

Radio Silence by Alice Oseman

What if everything you set yourself up to be was wrong?

This sounds different so I am very excited about it, plus I haven’t read enough queer books in my life.

The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas

This is such an important book that if I don’t read it I willl incredbly disappointed in myself.

A Quiet Kind of Thunder by Sara Barnard

Steffi doesn’t talk, but she has so much to say.

What’s that? Another YA book with a deaf character? Hell yeah it’s on my TBR

I literally do not even need to write why I want to read this, you already know.

Waking Gods (Themis Files #2) by Sylvain Neuvel

I read book 1 in March so I’m super excited for this. A sci-fi book about a mysterious robot dug under ground all around the world, oh yeah this series is cool.

At the Edge of the Universe by Shaun David Hutchinson

I haven’t yet read a book by SDH but I have heard so many good things about his work that yeah, I am extremely excited to read this!

What’s On My TBR? #1

Like most book lovers or book bloggers I have a Goodreads. I wanted to write a post about my current TBR on Goodreads but there are currently over 200 books on the list. Whoops. I decided it would be easier and more interesting if I posted about what some of the most recent additions to my list are and why I added them. I don’t own any of these books but Christmas is coming up and if I don’t end up buying them, I am a big library user anyway.

What Am I Currently Reading?

I am currently reading One Man Guy by Michael Barakiva. I’ve known about this book for years but ended up taking it off my tbr last year because I didn’t think I would read it. But, I saw it at the library last month and figured, if it’s there why not read it?

TBR| What Am I Excited About?

Jughead Volume 1 by Chip Zdarsky, Erica Henderson (Illustrations)

I’ve never read an Archie comic but I’ve heard good things about this one so I figured it would be a good place to start. Jughead Jones seems like a weird and quirky guy and I can’t wait to see what kind of trouble he gets into!

Beast by Brie Spangler

A transgender, modern retelling of Beauty and the Beast? Beauty and the Beast is my favourite movie of all time and I’ve never read a book with a trans character so I figured this would be a great place to start. I’ve heard that this book goes really deep into transphobia and doesn’t skip over the gritty bits. This sounds like an important book and I can’t wait to read it.

Six of Crows (Six of Crows Duology #1) by Leigh Bardugo

I think almost everyone in the bookish community knows about this duology, and yet I still haven’t picked it up. I plan on reading the Grisha trilogy before reading this duology so I have some better knowledge of the world. I’ve heard amazing things so all I can hope is that I’m not let down.

The Wise Man’s Fear (The Kingkiller Chronicle #2) by Patrick Rothfuss

I recently finished book one on this trilogy and I really enjoyed it. Naturally, I can’t wait to read the next book.

Magnus Chase and the Sword of Summer (Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard #1) by Rick Riordan

I wasn’t sure if I was ever going to pick up this trilogy but the other day I was binge watching booktube and I found out that there’s a deaf character, which has pushed this to the top of my TBR list. Plus, it’s Rick Riordan, I have to read it, right?

The Flash Volume 6: Out of Time by Robert Venditti (Goodreads Author), Van Jensen (Goodreads Author), Brett Booth (Illustrations)

I have only read volume 1-5 in this series and I honestly love it. This series is brilliant, definitely recommend for fans of the show!

A new Marissa Meyer novel? Duh, I’m gonna read it.

Talking as Fast as I Can: From Gilmore Girls to Gilmore Girls, and Everything in Between by Lauren Graham

I am a massive Gilmore Girls, it’s honestly ridiculous. The audiobook for this is being released at the end of the month, after the revival is released on Netflix. I think this will be a perfect way to close off the show. I love Lauren Graham, she has an amazing voice and her personality is goals, so naturally I am hyped for this!

Magnus Chase and the Hammer of Thor (Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard #2) by Rick Riordan

I’ve not read the first novel but like I said before this trilogy is right up the top of my list.

America Volume 1 by Jamie McKelvie (Artist), Matt Wilson (Colorist)

I read Young Avenger Volume 1 at the start of the year and fell in love with the characters so when I heard they were making a new series with America I immediately added it to my evergrowing TBR.

Down Among the Sticks and Stones by Seanon Macguire

I read Every Heart A Doorway a few months ago and devoured it, the characters were amazing and unique and the concept was awesome so naturally I will be picking up book 2 next year!

I'm currently re reading the Harry Potter series!

In July I read books 1 & 2.

Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (Harry Potter, #1) Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (Harry Potter, #2)

And over the next few months I’m going to read the rest of the books.

The Cursed Child

I plan on reading this after I finish my re read of the series – I’m not sure what to expect because I’ve heard mixed reviews about the play.

Arc August

Because of Arc August I will also be trying to read a few of the ARCs I have acculuated over the last few months (I will defintely be posting reviews when I finish reading them!)
