Thank you to Avery & Malanie for nominating me, you guys made my day!! Avery nominated me for the Best Teen Blogger and Malanie nominated me for Best Genre Blogs in YA so thank you so much, guys!

I’ve only been blogging for just under two years, but I only really started taking it seriously in the last 6 months or so, so thank you to guys for nominating me, it means so much to me!

The Annual Book Blogger Awards was created by Joce @ Write Through The Night. I’m really cutting my timing to the bone with my nominations, but you guys still have until April 30th to support your favourite bloggers by nominating them by writing your own blog post like I’ve done, or by commenting on Joce’s post (linked above). This is a wonderful way to support your favourite book bloggers so I hope you guys will consider going and nominating people!

Young Adult

Lia @ Lostinastory – I love Lia’s blog, she is one of my favourite bloggers and she is one of my go tos for ya recommendations!

Marie @ DrizzleandHurricaneBooks – I have been following Marie’s blog since the start of my blog and I regret nothing. Marie writes fantastic discussions and advice posts and writes fantastic YA reviews.

Middle Grade

I don’t think many of the bloggers I follow really read middle-grade, or at least if they do they don’t talk about it. But, I think I remember Kelly @ Kelly’s Rambles talking about her middle-grade tbr for this year back in January and that gave me a good idea of a bunch of books I might like to read with my brother this year, so I’ll nominate Kelly!

Romance

Charlotte @ Charlotte Annelise – I’m not big on romance novels myself, but I do love reading about other people love for them and Charlotte did recently talk about some of her favourite romance novels (which I have linked).

Science Fiction/ Dystopian/ Fantasy

Beth @ Reading Every Night – I nominate Beth because she’s a gem and I love her blog and all the fantasy books she reads!

Sarah @ BookHookedNook – I recently discovered Sarah’s blog and found that she reads a lot of the same fantasy as me so I had to include her here!

New Adult/ General Adult

Melanie @ NovelDescent – Melanie reviews a lot of middle-grade and YA but, she also loves adult so I’m nominating her for this one!

Literary Fiction/ Classics/Poetry

Laura @ Bbliophile – I don’t really read much poetry and my last experience wasn’t all that great but, Laura’s post has convinced me to give it another go and add some to my tbr.

Mystery & Thriller

Mikaela @ The Well-Thumber Reader – I think we’ve all accepted by now that Mikaela is the queen of discussions posts but what about her thriller recommendations? Mikaela is pretty much my one stop shop for Mystery/Thriller recommendations so I figured she was perfect for this category!

Zuky @ Zuky The Bookbum – Zuky is one of my favourite bloggers and she deserves all the love. If you love mystery/crime or horror you should check out Zuky’s blog!

2ndannualaward_thebestofbookblogging

Destiny @ Howlinglibraries – Meet Destiny, she’s the queen of Top 10 Tuesday & Down The TBR Hole and I love her (and her blog).

Nia @ Shades0fPaper – I had to nominate Nia for this one! She does so many different weekly memes and is so much more dedicated to them than I could ever be which I think is so admirable!

Best Book Recommendations

Emma @ Emmareadstoomuch – As soon as I saw this category my mind immediately went to Emma – the way she talks about the books she loves always convinces me to pick them up. It’s absolutely all her fault that my tbr is so big!

Briony @ Missbriony – Briony’s blog is beautiful to look at but, I love her book recommendations too! She recently recommended Autistic writers for Autism awareness month & I also enjoyed her magical books recommendations!

Best Discussion posts

Lara @ Words With Lara – I love Lara’s blog and I really love her advice and recommendations posts so you guys should definitely check her out!

Blog Aesthetic

Isla @ @WhisperOfInk – ISLA’S BLOG IS LIFE, I AM IN LOVE! ❤️❤️ Isla’s blog look is pretty simplistic but her blog post headers are always to die or so I couldn’t not nominate her for this category!

Ayla @ Books & Babbles – Ayla’s blog is beautiful and I am 100% jealous. Not only is Ayla’s blog content wonderful, but when I click on her blog I don’t want to look away because it is absolute goals!

She’s always game to talk and listen to me moan if I want to talk about my blog and I love her for that.

Sydney @ Fire and Rain Books – Sydney is my soon-to-be book buddy! Apparently, there’s a theme with these bloggers – I love buddy reading with them! Sydney is one of my new favourite bloggers and I hope you guys all check her out!

THE UNIQUE BLOGGER AWARD | APRIL 2018

Hey guys, today I’m coming at you with an award tag! I was tagged by the lovely Erin @ Aredheadsrambling to do the Unique Blogger Award. This was such an honour so thank you so much Erin, it means a lot to me to have been nominated!

uniquebloggeraward

THE RULES
  • Share the link/s of the blogger/s who has/have shown love to you by nominating you.
  • Answer their questions.
  • In the spirit of spreading the love nominate 8-13 people for the same award.
  • Ask them 3 questions.

ERIN’S QUESTION

1 IF YOU COULD BE BEST FRIENDS WITH ONE BOOKISH CHARACTER WHO WOULD YOU CHOOSE AND WHY?

The Raven Boys (The Raven Cycle, #1)
Noah Czerny is the ultimate best friend and I love him. He is my ultimate Hufflepuff friend and I totally want to hang out with him.

He is my favourite (but not most relatable) character. I totally think he’s a Hufflepuff – he is loyal and always thinks about his friends, which to me encompasses a Hufflepuff. I know that he also does some stupid (but fun) stuff with Ronan but you know what, who ever said Hufflepuff’s had to just be nice and follow the rules? Let them live and actually have personalities, please.

2  WHAT THREE SONGS WOULD YOU PICK AS THE PLAYLIST TO YOUR LIFE?

1 She Used To Be Mine – Waitress Musical

2 Pray – Sam Smith

The Marvel theme. No, I’m kidding, though it would totally explain my obsession with superheroes.

3 On my Way – Brother Bear soundtrack

3 IF YOU COULD ONLY WATCH ONE FILM FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE WHAT WOULD YOU PICK AND WHY?

Honestly, I think I’m going to have to go with Brother Bear. I recently did a post about my favourite movies and when I first saw this question I did immediately think of The Age of Adeline but the more I think about it now, I don’t think it properly has enough in it for me to watch it for the rest of my life.

Related image

So… *drum roll even though you’ve already seen the poster lol*… Brother Bear is going to be my answer for this one. It ticks all my boxes and I’ve pretty much been watching it for my whole life so far anyway.

✓ Brilliant & bingable soundtrack
✓ Humour
✓ Bears
✓ Family movie
✓ Fantastic animation
✓ Warm colouring
✓ Life lessons galore
✓ Animals (those moose istg)
✓ THAT SOUNDTRACK
✓ A movie that adults and kids will both enjoy and get something out of

REBECCA’S QUESTIONS:

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE READ SO FAR IN 2018?

WHAT KIND OF UNJUST QUESTION IS THIS REBECCA LET’S BE REAL YOU ALREADY KNOW MY ANSWER.

Hunting Prince Dracula (Stalking Jack the Ripper, #2)

No question, Hunting Prince Dracula takes the cake. 2018 is cancelled because the only thing that will top this is book 3. This was the cherry on top of the 2018 cake and September needs to come immediately.

ARE YOU PARTICIPATING IN ANY READING CHALLENGES THIS YEAR?

Aside from my Goodreads challenge (52 books) this year I will also be participating in the Beat the Backlist Challenge.

WHO IS AN AUTHOR YOU’D BE HAPPY TO LEAVE BACK IN 2017?

I didn’t really read too many terrible books last year but there are definitely some authors I just don’t care about so I think I will go with Rainbow Rowell.

I just… so many people love her because of the anxiety rep in Fangirl but also she mocks anxiety on Twitter so what’s her end goal in all this??? Also, I know next to nothing about her other books but doesn’t one involve stalking for “love” and isn’t another one racist??

No thanks. Not my cup of tea.

Either Pushing Daisies of Parks and Rec – honestly, they’re both so good that I couldn’t choose.

Without a doubt, Kerri Maniscalco. She is the author of the Stalking Jack the Ripper series and if you guys know anything about me then you know I love this series.

I do read arcs though, I don’t read them that often.

My favourite arcs so far have been:

FRIDGES ANT FRIDGESStrange the Dreamer (Strange the Dreamer #1) The Sandcastle Empire They Both Die at the End by Adam Silvera

Strange The Dreamer – while I didn’t enjoy this as much as I would’ve liked, I felt honoured to be accepted for an arc.

The Sandcastle Empire – this has to be one of the only dystopians I’ve enjoyed since I stopped reading the genre a few years ago.

They Both Die At The End – again, being accepted for an arc of this book, was a total honour.

3 BOOK CHARACTERS WHO ARE MOST LIKE YOU?

FRIDGES ANTFRIDGESMy Lady Jane (The Lady Janies, #1) Stalking Jack the Ripper (Stalking Jack the Ripper, #1) Queens of Geek

FAVOURITE ANIMAL?

I’m a dog person but my favourite animals are actually cows. I don’t know why but they are just the strange gassy creatures I have chosen to obsess over in this life.

FAVOURITE BOOK CHARACTER?

Stalking Jack the Ripper (Stalking Jack the Ripper, #1)

AUDREY ROSE WADSWORTH IS MY LORD AND SAVIOUR OKAY GOOD NIGHT

WHICH BOOK DO YOU WISH YOU COULD FORGET SO YOU COULD READ IT FOR THE FIRST TIME AGAIN?

Not Harry Potter purely because I think if I read it for the first time now I probably wouldn’t care as much and maybe wouldn’t even get past the first book.

And, saying Stalking Jack The Ripper would make this too repetitive soo…

Maybe one of these??

FRIDGES ANTFRIDGESInvictus My Lady Jane The Golden Door (The Three Doors Trilogy #1)

FRIDGES ANT ANTS ANTANTSThe Golden Door (The Three Doors Trilogy #1) Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (Harry Potter #1)

  • Answer their questions,
  • Nominate a few people, and then

THE QUESTIONS

01 If you could cross two of your favourite books/ settings/ series, which two would that be?

The Giver and The Sandcastle Empire. I don’t know why but I just really like this combination. The giver has such a torn down dystopian no hope feel and by the end of Sandcastle Empire, the characters are starting to feel hopeful about the future. I would just love to see Jonas in the jungle with Eden.

02 Which book or series would you like to have a prequel of?

I feel like the obvious answer is Harry Potter but honestly, I don’t really care all that much, the only reason I would be reading it is purely for Remus. Though, I would mostly prefer to see a prequel to A Wrinkle in Time that focuses on Mrs Who, Whatsit and Which.

03 Which two authors would you love to see collaborate on a book together?

Honestly, I don’t really know. I feel like saying Meagan Spooner and Amie Kaufman is already so obvious. So, I might go with Madeleine L’Engle and Becky Albertalii. I really love A Wrinkle in Time and I love Simon Vs. The Homo Sapien’s Agenda so to have them work together would be so cool. I know that Madeleine actually died in 2007 but it would’ve been so cool.

The Sunshine Blogger Award 3.0

Hey guys, today I’m coming at you with another blogger award. I was actually tagged for this award twice in July but I didn’t want to bombard you guys or make my content too boring (trust me guys, I’m boring) so I’m posting my second award now!

I just wanted to say thank you to Katie over at Readwithkatie because I feel very honoured, also I love your blog! 😍 😍

Sunshine Blogger Award logoTHE RULES

  • Thank the person who nominated you in a blog post and link back to their blog.
  • Answer the 11 questions sent by the person who nominated you.
  • Nominate 11 new blogs to receive the award and write them 11 new questions.
  • List the rules and display the Sunshine Blogger Award logo in your post and/or on your blog.

The Questions:

01 What made you start a book blog? Now that you’re a book blogger, is it different to what you thought it would be?

I really have no idea to tell you the truth. I’ve always wanted to BookTube but with my family situation and the lack of a second of quiet in my home, unless I was filming at 3am it just wouldn’t work. Though, I do really enjoy readathon vlogs so I’ll probably try and do some of those when I move out of home (which won’t be for a few more years unfortunately), but I don’t actually intend to full on dive into BookTube because I really don’t think that’s the platform for me.

But I have always wanted to talk about books because my friends don’t really read as much as I do, and we rarely read the same stuff so when I found out about book blogging I thought I’d give it a go. I tried to give it a go a few years a go in 2014 or 2015, I don’t remember which, but I was too swamped with school at the time so it didn’t work out. But then I tried again a year later when I was in a better mind set and I’m still here so I guess it’s going well.

Blogging is definitely different from what I thought it would be. I really didn’t think about it before I dived in and I really didn’t take into account ho much time it would take out of my day and how often I would be thinking about my blog. I definitely don’t regret it though!

02 Do you read eBooks and listen to audiobooks?

UM YES. If you’ve been following me for a while, even if I don’t mention it a lot, I am a massive advocate for audiobooks, I love them. Usually, the majority of books I read are on audiobook. I used to not care about them but the more I hear people basing them (and ebooks for that matter), the more I feel really bad about how the book community is becoming.

03 Are you participating in any other yearly reading challenges apart from the Goodreads challenge?

Unfortunately, no. I’m barely even doing the GR challenge – my goal was 1 book, which obviously I knew I would surpass easily. I’m in my last year of high school and so I really didn’t want throw myself into lots of reading challenges, and in general I don’t really enjoy them anyway.

04 Do you participate in readathons?

YES. I am a massive fan of readathons, I think they’re a really great way to bond with the rest of the reading community, and in general they’re just really fun.

05 Where do you purchase the majority of your books?

Usually online – places like Wordery & Bookdepositroy. But generally in store I buy at second hand stores.

I generally read from libraries so if I’m buying a book full price in store (something I rarely do) it’s only because I’ve read it before and I know I want to re-read it later on.

06 Do you unhual books?

YES. I’ve actually done a massive unhaul today. I’ve found at least 50 books on my bookshelves that I’m no longer interested in and will be getting rid of asap.

07 Do you have a book buying budget/rules for book buying?

Not really, I rarely buy books full price with my own money. Usually all the books you guys see in my hauls were bought by other people or were gifts.

I definitely love buying books, but I rarely actually buy any (unless they were second hand) so I don’t really need a budget. I guess the only real rule I have is to only buy a book full price in store if I think I’m going to re-read it.

08 How long, on average, does it take for you to finish one book?

That is a fantastic question, one that I can’t really answer. If I really like a book it could take 1-2 days, but it could also take me 2 months, so who the hell knows. It’s the same with books I didn’t like, I could hate read a book in a few hours, or it could take me a few weeks.

That being said I usually read 1-2 books each week, so you decide.

09 Do you underline and mark-up your books?

No I don’t but I would like to start. I am constantly conflicted about this but in the end they’re my books and it would probably help me write better reviews for you guys. This is actually something that I used to be 2000 percent against, but I slowly coming around to it. I will probably start highlighting in my books since I already do that with my ebooks. The only problem is that I am majorly a library reader, so for this to work I will have to actually buy some new books.

10 Do you create TBR’s? If you do, are you good at sticking with them?

I do, I really love having short hand goals, so this really helps me, as a person. I really prefer to have a set list of things to do throughout the week, yes that does mean that I plan what I’m going to read per week the month before I actually read them, it’s weird I know. So yes, in summary I do make tbrs, I don’t always stick to them because there are always so many new books to get distracted by, but in general I manage to read at least a few of them per month.

11 What are your favourite blog posts to write?

I really enjoy writing How Tos and Discussion posts, but I realise that I really haven;t written many of them as of yet. Though, I am hoping to fix that later in the year, and I have planned SO MANY discussion posts for next year, I never knew I  had so many opinions lol.

The Sunshine Blogger Award 2.0

Hey guys today I’m coming at you with The Sunshine Blogger Award, but 2.0 because I;m lucky enough to have already been tagged in this before. This time I was nominated by Dani over at Perspective of a Writer.

Sunshine Blogger Award logo

Rules

  • Thank the person who nominated you in a blog post and link back to their blog.
  • Answer the 11 questions sent by the person who nominated you.
  • Nominate 11 new blogs to receive the award and write them 11 new questions.
  • List the rules and display the Sunshine Blogger Award logo in your post and/or on your blog.

The Questions

1. If you had to chose a dystopian world to be sent to, which would it be and why?

I really don’t know, I mean it’s called a dystopian world for a reason. The first world that came to mind was The Giver which is slightly concerning to me. I feel like I could cope with the world of The Giver, because 90% of the characters don’t have clue and just follow the rules and be happy with their little families. But at the same time there is so much wrong with the world of The Giver and while I LOVE structure and having rules, I do also value freedom.

2. What are your favorite blog posts to write and why?

Uhhh, my favourite posts to write are my Discussion and How To posts, but lately I have also started to FINALLY talk about tv shows, and have actually just introduced a fun new feature called TV Chats. I’m hoping this will let you guys get to know me, because I am a massive film nerd outside of my book life.

3. Under what circumstances would you DNF a book?

Honestly, this is the time of year where I feel the most inclined to DNF a book. At the moment I am completely exhausted. It’s currently 7pm while I’m writing this and I have already fallen asleep at my computer twice, go me!

Anywayyyyy, I usually dnf for different reasons, it really just depends on the book. For example, I DNF’d The Knife of Never Letting Go because I couldn’t stand the writing, I would still like to know what happens though (I’m probably just going to end up watching the movie lol). But with other books like The Kiss of Deception I was just bored and didn’t care for the plot.

4. What types of characters do you love most? (i.e. like genre but for characters, examples: strong female, hot love interest, nerds, pirates, if you can group them and love them, name them!)

I know it would make sense to say the nerdy character but in all the books with nerdy characters that I’ve read, so far I haven’t actually liked any of the characters.

I don’t know if this a genre of character per say but my favourite kind of character is one that grows throughout the book, or even better the character who really finds themself and has some top notch character development by the end of the series.

5. If you could teleport to any city in the world which would it be? If you had to make your way home on you own would it still be the same city?

This is going to sound really lame but I’ve always wanted to got to London. I can’t exactly explain the draw, but it’s always been a goal of mine to eventually go there. I have two travelling goals in life: 1. go to London 2. go to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

6. If you wrote a book, what would it be about? (i.e. the premise, type of characters, world?)

Here’s the thing, I am not a writer. I can write you an analytical essay in an hour or two and it won’t be half bad, but if you ask me to write you something even remotely creative, it just won’t happen.

However, for the sake of the question, if I were to write a book it would probably be fantasy. That’s all I can say, I know it’s boring but I really can’t think of any ideas right now.

7. If a band were to be featured in a fictional story, which would you want it to be and why?

Oh jeez, I don’t know when the last time I intentionally listened to a band was so this should be interesting.

I kind of think it would be interesting to see Panic! At The Disco in any kind of novel, but particularly a historical fiction or Fantastic Beasts kind of setting. They have awesome music and I really think it would be cool to see the two clash because they’re so different.

8. What book describes you best? (Is it a particular character, the cover or the story?)

I feel like this is such an obvious answer but Fangirl (in terms of the title) definitely describes me best because I am 100% a nerd. The book itself definitely does not apply to me (even though I have terrible anxiety) because I don’t write fanfiction (and rarely read it) and would never plagiarise because duh!

9. Favourite book universe and why? (Is it the friends you would have, the world you would live in or the abilities/circumstances you would be in?)

Like the above answer mine will be pretty lack luster here, but I would really love to be in the Wizarding World. The main reason though is purely because I would want to be a Magizoologist because the animals are always my favourite parts of th HP books.

10. What is your favourite book pet? Real pet? Ultimate pet?

My favourite book pet is a dog. My favourite real pet is a dog. My ultimate pet is a dog. I’m sensing a theme here.

11. If you’d humor me and look at this post I wrote about Korean dramas… which banner looks like it has a story you would be interested in reading/watching?

I’m assuming that a banner is the number and title?? (sorry I’m quite sleep deprived right now)

Honestly, no. 8 “Multiple Kinds of Relationships” sounds awesome. I enjoy any show or book that includes familial and friend relationships, and not just romantic relationships because I feel like often those other relationships can be so much more powerful than a romance.
