Hey guys, welcome back to my blog! Today I’m coming at you with a fun new list, talking about the top 5 books I’ve read in the last year that I regret not having read earlier!
Hey guys, welcome back to my blog! Today I’m coming at you with a fun new list, talking about the top 5 books I’ve read in the last year that I regret not having read earlier!
Hey guys, today I’m coming at you with some more recommendations! I don’t think I’ve ever done this before so I thought I would try something different and recommend some series worth a re-read! I’ve chosen not to include Harry Potter or Percy Jackson because I thought they were too obvious, so hopefully, you guys will like these other series too!

I love this trilogy and I have no shame. I’ll admit that I haven’t actually re-read this trilogy but, I d plan on re-reading it next year. Honestly, I’m adding it to this list, based on the fact that every Riordan book is worth re-reading and because I’ve had to actually stop myself from re-reading this trilogy every month since I finished it.
I have re-read all the books in this series apart from The Raven King (book 4). This is one of those series where you pick up something new upon each re-read so, I think it is definitely worth it! I love books like this, where you are constantly learning something new about the characters or plot, I think it makes the experience even more fun!
I had to add this trilogy because when do I not recommend these books (and this author, in general). I have a goal to re-read this trilogy every year until I get to busy to, it’s not a fancy goal but subconsciously it’s just something I want to do. I feel like the year I stop re-reading these books will be the year Earth burns to a crust and whatever’s left of my own goodness evaporates, but I’m not being dramatic or anything. Seriously, I love this series and it honestly just makes me so sad to see how few people have actually read it.
So far I’ve read Caraval 3 times and Legendary once though I can see myself re-reading it many more times in the future. This series has amazing writing and is full of twists and turns so that it’s even more fun when you re-read it! I already can’t wait for book 3 to come out so I can see how this trilogy comes to a close!
This series is hilarious. It’s incredibly violent and as you can see y the cover, so bright! The colouring in this comic is completely different to what you would expect considering the main character is a psycho serial killer in a land of monsters and manipulative fairies. This series is brilliant and I will read pretty much anything Skottie Young illustrates and I hope you all decide to pick this one up!
If you know me at all, you already know that I love this series probably too much, especially considering there are only two books. Either way, Hunting Prince Dracula is one of my favourite books in all existence and I am so happy that it exists but so sad that more people haven’t read it. The mystery is amazing, the romance will have you swooning and the banter will leave you cackling.
Hey guys, today I’m going a little crazy and talking about my favourite books. This is a kind of nerve-wracking post because how can this be a list of my favourite books of all time if I am only 17?
This list is, of course, susceptible to change but, at the moment these are my top 5 favourite books!

I love this book. That is a given considering the title and subject of this post but god damn, I can’t mention this book without talking about how much I love it.
I love Stalking Jack The Ripper and I honestly didn’t think it could better but when I read HPD earlier this year my mind was blown. Blood was splattered and I was full on in love with the characters Kerri Maniscalco has created.
I wrote a blog post earlier this year talking about some recent favourite reads of mine and I really went into why I love this series, which you can read here. To sum everything up, while also taking into account that books 3 and 4 aren’t out yet, I can tell you that I love this series because of its spunky mc, swoon-worthy love interest and gory murder mysteries.
I have only really read this one book about vegetarianism and while I would love to read more books on this subject, I do own this one so I know I will definitely be reading this in the future because of how much I love this book. I always recommend this book to people who might be considering going vegetarian, if not just because it really goes into the meat industry in America. I honestly think that everyone one should read this book at once in their life.
If you want to read about my thoughts on being vegetarian, you can find that here.
This is one of the only ya high school contemporaries that I would and could happily read once a month every year, purely just because it makes me happy. I love Simon Spier and I love Bram and I love Oreos.
This is just a fun novel that makes me feel genuinely excited whenever I decide I want to re-read it. I honestly can’t wait until the movie comes out on digital so I can watch it in the background all but constantly just because of the happy feeling I always get from the story. Also, who doesn’t love a good cry?
Of all the books on this list, this is the book I’ve read most recently. In fact, I only read it in March so it’s kind of a crazy feeling for it to be in my top 5. This is a fantastic and really unique book. I know that everyone says that their favourite books are unique, but I honestly believe that this one is. There are news clippings and articles interspersed between the story, while the story is also split into different sections – each focussing on Evelyn’s life with each husband.
I love this book, not just because of the phenomenal writing and unreliable mc, but because the book subtly goes into the Hollywood and film industry. It really delves into how difficult it can be to stick to who you are when everyone is expecting you to conform to a certain mould within society.
I read this one in the very backend of last year and absolutely loved it! I had already seen the film so I really didn’t expect to love the book as much as I did! This book was a total whirlwind of emotions for me. I cried, I laughed, I got really f’ing mad and I got very worried x10. I was listening to this last year so basically, I paired THE most stressful book with one of the most stressful activities, which evidently was not wise because guess who ended up cutting up her sheets! Sorry, mum!
In summary, this book is ridiculously stressful and you should all read it/
Hey guys! Today I’m coming at you with a fun new list talking about my favourite male friendships in books (and comics)! I feel like, in the blogosphere, we mostly pay homage to our favourite female friendships, and rightly so, but today I thought it might be fun to talk about my favourite brotps!
Remember to click on the covers to get to the Goodreads pages!
I love them. Darcy is so moody and angsty. Seriously, just give him some guyliner and he’ll be all set. And, Bingley is just so light and happy all the time and seriously, how are these two friends? I love it. They are the original good cop, bad cop duo and they are so fucking iconic, I love it.
I mean come on, I had to include them in this list. I’ve been following their journeys for as long as I can remember and I regret nothing. These two and excluding Goblet of Fire they have one of the strongest friendships I have ever read about.
Let’s be real, these two are beautiful. if you guys have read that scene from the first book, roughly 200 pages in, there’s a wasp scene that I love. It displays their friendship spot on in just a few lines. Gansey is allergic to wasps and Ronan all but flips out when he sees one near Gansey and I love it.
I love them. These two have one of my favourite friendships. Hearthstone is one of my favourite book characters of all time and so his friendship with Blitzen makes this trilogy 10x better. These two have such a fantastically supportive friendship and I love it – Blitz learnt asl for Hearth and Hearth is constantly worrying about and supporting Blitz’s career goals and inability to go out into the sunlight.
I mean these guys are iconic at this point, right? I love these two as a duo, they totally balance each other out and I love it. Rocket may get totally frustrated and irritated half the time from Groot’s antics but he is always along for the ride and it’s amazing!
Hey guys, today I’m talking to you guys about my top 5 favourite movies. These are f course, subject to change but, for now, this is where it’s at!
I still haven’t read the original source material or watched the original Disney film. I don’t know why I love this movie so much exactly, but I feel like it has something to do with Margo Robbie being in the film. I am also a big fan of Alexander Skarsgård and his interpretation of the character. Also, something that really hit me while watching this film is that Tarzan doesn’t or can’t completely flatten out and open his hand because duh he’s been living like a Gorilla for his whole life.
Because who doesn’t love this movie? I have always loved this movie and I honestly don’t see that changing anytime soon. It’s fun, it’s different and it’s completely different to most of the other movies I tend to watch.
This was one of my favourite movies growing up and then for some reason, I just didn’t watch it for 10 or so years. But, a few days ago I ended up rewatching it and absolutely fell in love with the movie all over again. I found upon rewatching it that I still knew most of the dialogue and that I still remembered the entire soundtrack. It was such a fun experience and I hope I’ll be able to re-explore old favourites in the feature!
I love this movie. It is amazing and I don’t foresee myself ever not loving this movie. This is just so up my alley, Milo Thatch is just my ultimate mc. He is the perfect Ravenclaw, but I think we could also argue that he is a Hufflepuff; a RavenPuff if you will. He is such a fantastic and soft main character, he just cares so much about other people and it’s lovely to see. But he isn’t the stereotypical smart character either, in that he clearly shows his emotions which I really appreciate since I feel like often the smarter characters are just shown as rigid mean people.
This is my movie, the new Beauty and The Beast. I watch this a lot when I’m feeling down I know that this is a pretty simple and straightforward movie but I love it all the same. I really enjoy Blake Lively as a person and find that I also really enjoy her acting so that’s a plus. This is a really fun romance film and now that I’m talking about it I feel like rewatching it again. Whoops.
Don’t worry I can still recite the entire movie, dialogue and soundtrack by heart, I just don’t feel the need to watch this film on repeat every day anymore.
This movie is a step in the right direction and I need more movies like this in the superhero genre. This movie is fantastic and I would die for Shuri.
Okay, so I know this hasn’t come out yet but we all know I’m going to love it and we all know I’m going to cry.
Hey guys, today I’m coming with something a bit different and newer and definitely shorter! Today I’m sharing some of my favourite quotes with you guys and hopefully, you will enjoy!
Hey guys, today I am coming at you (shockingly) with a new list. I’ve felt the urge lately to read longer books so I figured I would talk about it. I really enjoy big books and I rarely get intimidated by size. If I’m going to get intimidated, I will probably feel reluctant because of hype or the author. I know that the bigger books I am usually interested in are high fantasy so I tried to spice my list up a bit for you guys!
I STILL HAVEN’T READ THIS YET? UGH WHAT AM I DOING WITH MY LIFE?
Okay, so to be fair, I did start this in September last year but I only got roughly 60 pages in before getting too tired because I had just finished reading book 3 a few days beforehand.
I do really enjoy this series when I’m reading it so I would really like to finish the series off soon and just read the books as they come out. Because with these books, for some reason size just doesn’t intimidate me.
I feel like I’ve been going on about this book a lot this year but honestly, I’m okay with that. I’m really hoping this will be the year I get into Stephen King’s books and I’m hoping to get to this one sometime soon. At the moment I’m really interested in his suspense novels but I’m sure I’ll feel the need to read a retelling soon and that I will pick this one up.
I need to read this. No question about it, I need to read this, this year.
I feel like I’m going to have to re-read Scythe before I get to this one but I’m totally okay with that. I really enjoyed the first novel and I’ve heard such glowing reviews on the second novel that I can’t wait to read it myself!
I mean, come on, who isn’t excited about this book? I loved My lady Jane and I thought it was hilarious so I’m definitely going to be re-reading it before My Plain Jane comes out later in the year!
Hey guys, you seem to enjoy when I talk about authors and lists are some of my favourite posts to write so today I thought I would talk about my top 5 to read authors. These are all new-to-me authors or authors I am willing to give another chance!
I’m pretty excited for all of these authors and I hope you guys are too, they’re all pretty popular!
Remember, if it’s in red it’s a link!
A while back I posted a question with a poll asking people for advice on how to read King. A majority of people said I should reading King and I will definitely do that at some point, though I really want to work up to it and not scare the shit out of myself straight away.
About a week ago I was window shopping and then I saw a 2 for $20 sale at QBD and one thing lead to another and I was walking out with 3 more books than I should have come out with (pictured above). When I asked on Goodreads where I should start a lot of people recommended that I start with Misery and at the moment it is the one I am most intrigued by, so I think I will start there.
Gosh, this guy is so intimidating!
A year or two ago I borrowed Darker Shade from the library and only got about 100 pages through it before it was due back again. Last year I did buy the first two books in the trilogy though so I am really hoping to at least read book 1 this year.
I’ve heard that her books can be pretty dark also, which is why I’m excited to hopefully get to Vicious and This Savage Song. Though I don’t know which to get to first, they both sound so good in their own rights.
So, Cece over at ProblemsofaBookNerd has been talking about this non-stop and really hyping it up so I am really excited to get into this one. I haven’t read anything purely mushy and cute for so long that I really think I’m going to love this when it comes out in print later in the year.
I have owned this book for a ridiculous amount of years, ever since the film came out. So turns out the film came out around 2008/ 2009 so I’ve owned this book for possibly 10 years and never read, which to me is absolutely appauling. I will honestly be so disappointed in myself if the number reaches 11.
A few weeks ago I actually got accepted for an e-arc of Ace of Shades so I am pretty hyped to get into Amanda Foody’s books because I’ve heard nothing but amazing things about this book from all the people with early copies. That being said, I tried to read her debut novel, Daughter of the Burning City last month and actually, DNF’d it, but I did think it was a cool concept so I am hopeful for her second book.
UPDATE: Okay, so don’t @ me because I know this is bad timing. J. K. Rowling is being a dick, but I still want to be able to think about the Harry Potter series positively, otherwise, my whole childhood will go up in flames.
Hey guys, today I’m coming at you with a bit or a more chill type of post. Today all I want to do is talk about some of my favourite Harry Potter characters. I have a top 3 but today just for shits and gigs I’m going to hurt my brain and fit the Potterverse characters into a list of 5 people.
^ I mean come on, look at this guy!
Yeah, fight me. I love this guy – he made the first film for me.
He’s fantastically (haha, I crack myself up) kind and he really cares about his animals, something I can’t help but relate to. I feel like this video (I really recommend watching it) also really made me love him more, Newt Scamander is one of the few characters I can think of that doesn’t display the typical masculine crazy buff form that men usually take on, also, he has feelings and that makes him an immediate A++.
^Before Newt Scamander, there was… Hagrid.
Until Newt Scamander’s franchise came around my fave was always Hagrid.
Hagrid, aside from Mrs Weasley, is basically the one who raises Harry. He’s always there for him and can you guess, HE ALSO LOVES ANIMALS I GUESS I HAVE A FAVES TYPE.
^hell yeah he is!
I mean give me a break. Every time he turns up in the books I just start smiling. All he does is talk about his love for Quidditch and I can’t help but admire his love for the sport. I mean, come on, you can’t just cancel Quidditch!
^if that isn’t me lol
Of all the characters I relate most to Neville (just call me Nermione, because my other half is stuck in a book). I mean, he is most known for his awesome character development, He doesn’t like violence, he loves his friends but, he will fight you.
Luna Lovegood is honest and crazy goals. I mean this chick is just the forking loveliest. She’s completely genuine and just such a good friend. I mean, she has a freaking mural of her friends on her ceiling, who does that???
I think there’s a theme with all my faves. They’re all nice people and they’re all genuine. I just love it, you just know who they are without even getting to know them all that well. That may sound shallow, but I don’t mean for it to sound that way (I would obviously love to be friends with all these people), I just really appreciate that they don’t have hidden motives or secrets – they’re just living their best lives and being nice people.
Hey guys, today I’m coming at you with a new recommendations post. I haven’t done one of these in what feels like ages so I’m super excited for this one and I hope you guys find a new book to read!
YUP, here I am, recommending this one again. I love this one and I really hope you guys can all get on board with it! The main character is Bisexual, his love interest is gay (and has epilepsy) and the main guy’s sister is canonically ace (and getting her own book spinoff!!).
This is a fantastic and really fun historical fiction. Even if Hist fiction isn’t your jam I still think you should give this one a go!
The way I have described this graphic novel since I read it this time last year is: An all female, all badass group of Power Rangers! And, I stand by that description!
Girl power + friendships + lgbt romance = you need to read this graphic novel. Also, this is one of the brightest artworks in a novel form I’ve ever seen and I loved it!
WHAT DO WE NEED? MORE ACE REPRESENTATION!
Yep, the main character is ace, and you know what I love the most about this? The main character being ace is never a plot point or an issue and I honestly feel like that’s more of what I want in YA now, that publishers are finally diversifying the books they’re publishing.
So, Rick Riordan is amazing and he is certainly making an effort to diversify his novels, which I love because his books are all middle-grade and generally kids books only focus on white straight characters, which only represents or informs a select group of children.
Also, so if you want more diversity I would recommenMagnusus Chase (deaf characters for the win!)
I haven’t read this one in awhile, but when I read it back in 2015 I really loved it!
There is a transsexual character, lesbians, a deaf character and a whole lot of girl power!
