WWW Wednesday 22/09/2021 | Cinderella retellings & murder mysteries!

Hi everyone, welcome back to my blog! Today I’m giving you a quick update on what I’m currently reading! I’ve been in a reading slump this month, occasionally reading some comics, but mostly I’ve just been thinking about books and then never picking them up. But, I did finally finish a book yesterday so I’m hoping to get some momentum and kick myself out of this slump!

WWW Wednesday is hosted by Taking On a World of Words and you can find my other WWW Wednesday posts and find my progress here.

I don’t know why I didn’t realise this was a full-on retelling but it is! I’m really enjoying this so far and I’m really loving having a plus size main character. There was a scene with her on a plane where she was talking about the struggle of seatbelts and oh boy, I felt that! Also, in general squeezing past people in small spaces. Not fun.

I’m in a Cinderella mood at the moment and so far I’m really loving this version of the story, especially because on the surface the stepmother actually doesn’t seem that bad, but actually she perpetuates some relaly harmful ideas for plus size people and uni students!

I can’t wait to see what I htink of the rest of this one and I’ll definitely be listening to more of it whenever I go on my next dog walk!

Magic for Liars by Sarah Gailey

My Goodreads Review

I love a creepy boarding school setting and the noir vibes the author was setting up would have worked really well if they’d kept up with them! This could be a really cool mystery series but it also works as a standalone!

I think the idea of this was really interesting and I especially enjoyed the magic, plus that cover is georgeous but this book just does not live up to they hype for me! I predicted all the reveals in the very beginning of the book but that didn’t ruin the mystery for me. But, overall I just found this unengaging and honestly, I just didn’t dig the ending. I would read more in this series but honestly I don’t know if I would read other things from this author.

These are the next books on my tbr! I’ve started the first two and I’m really really hoping to get to the other two asap because I’m really hoping to read some more romances before the end of the year!
