The 20 Questions Book Tag πŸ’• // TAG MONDAY

Hi everyone, welcome back to my blog! I haven’t done a Tag Monday in a while so I thought it was about time I brought it back! I also had no idea which tag I should do so I typed ‘book tags’ into YouTube and this was one of the first ones to pop up, so I decided why not?! I also think this will be a chance for you all to get to know me better, so I can’t wait to chat with you all in the comments!

How many books is too many books in a series?

I generally prefer when a series caps it at 5 books! I think the exception to this is with novella-lenth book series like The Wayward Children. Generally though, I think a series can be done well in either a duology or in four books because I think often trilogies are stetched out too much, so duologies suit the story better.

How do you feel about cliffhangers?

I generally like them! I think they’re a great way to keep you interested in a series and they generally keep me commited to reading the next book (as long as I liked the last one!). However, for authors who only publish books in a series every now and then and who take a long time to update a series, cliffhangers are a lot less fun!

Hardcover or paperback?

Paperback all the way! I MUCH prefer to read paperbacks BUT if we’re talking the books that I keep on my favourites shelf, my faves are hardcovers! I also think that paperbacks are much cheaper which makes them a lot more appealing to me!

Favorite book?

I always say Farenheit 451! It’s a book that I love every time I read it and I always get something new out of it whenever I re-read it. I also think about it pretty frequently which I htink shows that it’s left an impact on me.

Least favorite book?

Like, ever? I’ve read so many bad books but the first one that came to mind was The Monsters We Deserve by Marcus Sedgwick which was definitely one of the WORST books I’ve ever read in my life!

Love triangles, yes or no?

I’ve never seen one done really well, so until I do, it’s a no from me.

The most recent book you just couldn’t finish?

The msot recent book I DNF’d was American Psycho! It’s a good book but I just found it too brutal towards women that I couldn’t read more than a few pages all at once.

A book you’re currently reading?

I just started listening to This Is Not The Jess Show by Anna Carey and I’m literally only on chapter 1 so I couldn’t tell you what I think of it right now.

Last book you recommended to someone?

The last book I recommended was Mrs Death Misses Death by Salena Godden! (I also recently recommended Malbu Rising!)

Oldest book you’ve read? (Publication date)

I’ve read a few Shakespeares over the last coupple of years so it’s one of those!

Newest book you’ve read? (Publication date)

The most recent new release I’ve read is One Last Stop by Casey McQuiston which came out on June 1st! I’ve got A LOT of new releases on my tbr so I’ve got a lot of catch up to do, but I really enjoyed One Last Stop!

Favorite author?

I don’t think I have just one favourite, honestly.

  • I really love Helen Hoang when it comes to romance
  • I really love Seanan McGuire when it comes to weird fiction or short fantasy
  • I love basically anything that Kelly Thompson writes
  • I love how Andy Weir can make me care about science!
  • I love K Ancrum’s writing, I’m pretty sure I’d read one of her grocery lists if I could get my hands on one!
  • I love Jane Austen’s commentaries

I love a lot of authors and a lot of different types of books so I honestly don’t think I could ever narrow it down to just one!

Buying books or borrowing books?

Borrowing 100% I am a big fan of my local library and I use BorrowBox, Libby and Overderive to get the majority of my audiobooks! I usually only buy a book if my local library apps won’t have it e.g. a really new release or an older backlist that never got much hype or attention.

A book you dislike that everyone else seems to love?

The Way of the Househusband series! I really enjoyed the first volume but it went downhill quickly from there! It’s a fun idea but the lack of plot makes it seem really repetitive and slow!

Bookmarks or dog-ears?

BOTH! haha, I bet half of you just unfollowed me! I’m sorry but it’s true, I dog ear books! Sometimes a girl loses her bookmark or just stright up forgets to bring one with her!

A book you can always reread?

The Kiss Quotient, I Hate Fairyland, Percy Jackson, Check Please and Artemis Fowl! These are some of my all-time faves that I absolutely love re-reading!

Can you read while hearing music?

I used to be really really good at this when I was in high school but I listen almost exclusively to audiobooks now so I have no idea how this would work, especially since I’m deaf in one ear! As a rule, I try to only listen ton one thing at a time or I get a headache. I can write and listen at the same time but reading and listening distracts me too much now!

One POV or multiple POVs? (POVs = point of views)

Ooooooh option c: all of the above! I have no problem with one pov because so many books are written that way, but I’ve found that multi pov can be really helpful to flesh out characters!

Do you read a book in one sitting or over multiple days?

I LOVE reading a book in a day and getting it over quickly since I forget details so easily.

Who do you tag?

Uhh, whoever wants to do the tag! Sorry for the cop-out answer!

Do you have a favourite book?
Can you read and listen to music at the same time?

    1. Yes, I agree, shorter series are amazing but sometimes I love 5-book series like Rick Riordan’s series! But, I also love duologies too!

I agree with you on speed reading too, some books are just better when you take your time!
