JUNE WRAP UP | My Graphicsathon Wrap Up!

Hi everyone, welcome back to my blog! June was a weird month from start to finish. I started the month on a really strong reading high, literally fiinishing my first book by 9am on June 1st and then I was going really well reading on the bus to uni every day. But, then exam week hit me full-force and my reading came to an immediate halt basically until Graphicsathon started. However, I still think I read some great books this month and I absolutely read some new favourites during Graphicsathon which I’m proud of!

Also, even if I hadn’t read a single thing this month, I still co-hosted a readathon which makes me so proud!

So, I’m going into July with a really positive outlook and a lot of motivation, here’s hoping my wrap up is just as positive!

• Peter Pan [01/06] 🎧🔁 ↢ 3 ⭐ ↣ Probably my favourite re-read so far, I had a lot of fun reading this for uni!
• The Soulmate Equation [01 – 02/06] 🎧❤ ↢ 3.75 ⭐ ↣ Okay, but can someone pls tell me why this was so good?
• One Last Stop [02 – 03/06] 🎧❤🌈 ↢ 3.75 ⭐ ↣ ANNOUNCEMENT: I NOW LOVE BOOKS ABOUT TRAINS!
• Paint It All Red [22/03 – 04/06] ↢ 2 ⭐ ↣ Such an unsatisfying conclusion but I am glad to finally be done reading the series!
• Smart Ovens for Lonely People [06 – 08/06] 🎧 ↢ 4.5 ⭐ ↣ I’m not usually someone who enjoyes short stories but this was FANTASTIC. So funny, so witty and so god damn weird! I also loved the Aussie setting, it’s so helpful to actually know what the characters are talking about!
• Crown of Midnight [10/04 – 20/06] 🌻🎧 ↢ 2.5 ⭐ ↣ Had some good moments but there was too much non-murdery drama for me.
• The Way of The Househusband Vol 1 [21/06] 📚↢ 4 ⭐ ↣ This was so much fun, I’ll definitely be reading vol 2 asap!

• Heartstopper Vol 1 [21/06] 🔁🌈 ↢ 4 ⭐ ↣ Nick and Charlie are both so cute and this is such a quick read!
• The Tea Dragon Festival [21/06] 📚🌈🟣 ↢ 3 ⭐ ↣ Beautiful artwork and I loved the ASL rep!
• Spy x Family Vol 1 [21/06] 📚 ↢ 5 ⭐ ↣ So much fun! I will 100% be contonuing this series, I think it’s a new favourite!
• The Way of The Househusband Vol 2 [22/06] 📚 ↢ 3 ⭐ ↣ The casual sexism in this series is so uncomfy and inescapsable! ❌❌❌
• Spy x Family Vol 2 [22/06] 📚 ↢ 5 ⭐ ↣ SO MUCH FUN! I think this might be in my top 3 of all time fave manga series!
• Heartstopper Vol 2 [22/06] 🔁🌈 ↢ 3.5 ⭐ ↣ This series so stinkin’ cute, I love it but I also appreciate how it discusses darker themes too!
• Nimona [22/06] 🔁🌈 ↢ 3 ⭐ ↣ The audiobook for this was amazing, I highly recommend it!

• Haikyu!! Vol 1 [22/06] 📚 ↢ 3 ⭐ ↣ Do I care about sport in any capaity? No. But, this was still fun!
• The Way of The Househusband Vol 3 [23/06] 📚↢ 3 ⭐ ↣ Average – not bad but not amazing.
• The Way of The Househusband Vol 4 [23/06] 📚 ↢ 3 ⭐ ↣ How is a series about an ex mob boss boring? I would really like some plot pls!
• Spy x Family Vol 3 [23/06] 📚 ↢ 5 ⭐ ↣ THEY’RE GETTING A DOG!!! This series so wholesome I love it so much!!!
• The Backstagers Vol 1 [23/06] 📚🌈 ↢ 4 ⭐ ↣ I love the artwork and the idea of this comic, it’s so much fun!
• The Quintessential Quintuplets Vol 1 [26/06] 📚 ↢ 3 ⭐ ↣ There’s nothing inherently wrong with this EXCEPT for the constant sexualisation and nakedness of the female minors shown in the manga. It’s not necessary and if it skeeves me out to read it, it should more than skeeve out the author/illustrator.
• Moonstruck Vol 3 [26/06] 📚🌈 ↢ 3.5 ⭐ ↣ Trouble in paradise and I’m loving it! As always, this was fantastic!

• The Fire Never Goes Out: A Memoir [27/06] 🌈 ↢ 4.5 ⭐ ↣ This was such an amazing way to read a memoir and I’m in total awe of Noelle Stevenson today!
• Lumberjanes Vol 1 [27/06] 🌈🔁 ↢ 3.5 ⭐ ↣ Very cute, I’ll definitely be reading vol 2 for the next Graphicsathon!

• Luca [19 June] ❤ – 4 ⭐ – So cute oh my god I will absolutely be rewatching this in the future when I need a good cry!
• Cruella [20 June] ❤ – 3.5 ⭐ – Okay Emma Stone GO OFF. It doesn’t need a sequel but it was a good time!

• She’s All That [29 June] – 4 ⭐ – I really thought this would be terrible but I’ll 100% be rewatching this again in the future!
• Scooby-Doo [30 June] 🔁 – 4 ⭐ – An almost perfect movie tbh.
