MAY WRAP UP ~ Three 5 ⭐ reads in one month and reading 21 books!

Hi everyone, welcome back to my blog! I’ve had a very intense reading year so far, with January and February being full-steam ahead and then reading hardly anything in the months after. So, now we’re almost halfway through the year and I’m wrapping up May! For May I was in a relaly comfortable reading mood where I was pretty much reading every day and I was enjoying the majority of what I read which is such a wonderful change from my recent wrap ups! Not only did I read 21 books but I also read three 5 star reads which is so exciting and I’ve now read 6 this year!

• The Ex Talk [01/05] 🎧❤🌻 ↢ 3.5 ⭐ ↣ I read this so quickly. I loved the main characters and the plot was so much fun! I definitely need to read more from this author!
• Every Vow You Break [01 – 05/05] 🎧❤ ↢ 1.5 ⭐ ↣ Genuinely one of the worst thrillers I’ve ever read.
• The Wicker King [06 – 7/05] 🌈🎧 ↢ 3.75 ⭐ ↣ Another addictive problematic book but this one actually has amazing writing!
• Dial A For Aunties [07 – 11/05] 🎧❤🌈 ↢ 3 ⭐ ↣ This started off so well and I was loving it but I ended up not loving this, especially with the cop-out convoluted ending!
• Get A Life, Chloe Brown [12/05] 🎧🟣 ↢ 3.75 ⭐ ↣ The first Talia Hibbert book I’ve properly enjoyed. Not amazing and I don’t think I’ll ever re-read it but I did really enjoy it!
• A Girl Like Her [13/05] 🎧 ↢ 3.75 ⭐ ↣ More soft Bois in romance! 😍😍😍
• Take A Hint, Dani Brown [14/05] 🎧🌈 ↢ 3.75 ⭐ ↣ I’m loving these Brown sisters, they’re all so cute and powerful!

• I Hear The Sunspot [15/05] 📚🌈🟣 ↢ 4 ⭐ ↣ I absolutely adored this and identified so much with Kohei!
• I Hear The Sunspot: Theory of Happiness [15/05] 📚🌈🟣 ↢ 4 ⭐ ↣ I really really loved this volume and I know for sure that I’ll re-read these volumes again in the future. I feel like this is a really important hoh perspective to read about!
• An Offer From A Gentleman [16-17/05] 🎧🔁 ↢ 3 ⭐ ↣ I don’t think I enjoyed this one as much as last time, but I still maintain that it’s one of my favourite Cinderella retellings of all time! (I also CANNOT wait to see these two on-screen together!)
• Romancing Mr Bridgerton [17-18/05] 🎧🔁 ↢ 3.5 ⭐ ↣ I absolutely devoured this one but, I have to say these books lose a little bit of their charm upon a re-read just because I hadn’t noticed before how often Colin manhandles Penelope and it made me a bit uncomfortable. But, other than that this was a lot of fun and had a lot of drama!
• The Legend of the Golden Raven [6 – 21 /05] 🌈 ↢ 2.75 ⭐ ↣ I love K Ancrum’s writing but this felt a bit pointless tbh.
• Let’s Get Textual [20 – 21/05] 🎧🔁 ↢ 3 ⭐ ↣ I loved this the first time I read it but as fun, as it was, I just didn’t connect with it the same way this time around, possibly because the text message format didn’t translate well to audiobook.
• I Wanna Text You Up [22/05] 🎧 ↢ 3 ⭐ ↣ I didn’t enjoy this one as much as the first book but that’s mostly just because I’m over the annoying textspeak. I do think I’ll continue the series though.

• The Fake Rake [22-23/05] 🎧 ↢ 3 ⭐ ↣ I was really enjoying the first half of this until we got to the usual romance act 3 drama and I was OVER IT. I liked the characters well enough but this book just didn’t keep my attention, unfortunately.
• Before the Coffee Gets Cold [24/05] 🎧 ↢ 5 ⭐ ↣ I’m not usually the type of reader who enjoys anthology-type stories but this sounded so intriguing that I decided to bite the bullet and give it a go anyway and I’m so glad I did! This was such an interesting idea and I will definitely be reading more from this world and Toshikazu Kawaguchi!
• Lost in The Never Woods [24-26/05] 🎧❤🌻 ↢ 3 ⭐ ↣ I enjoyed the idea but this felt undercooked and rushed.
• The Wall of Winnipeg and Me [27/05] 🎧 ↢ 4 ⭐ ↣ Finally a genuinely good slow-burn friendship to lovers! I don’t even give a shit about sports but I loved this and I’ll definitely be picking it up again in the future!
• The Wall of Winnipeg and Me [27 – 28/05] 🎧🔁 ↢ 4 ⭐ ↣ More authors need to write 700-page slow burn romances because this was so much fun and I kind of want to re-read it again already!
• Before The Coffee Gets Cold: Tales From The Cafe [29 – 30/05] 🎧 ↢ 5 ⭐ ↣ Oh wow please tell me there’s a book three!! That was absolutely fantastic and I can’t believe I’d never heard of this series until a few months ago!
• Act Your Age, Eve Brown [31/05] 🎧❤🟣 ↢ 5 ⭐ ↣ I just want all authors to know that there’s nothing wrong with a long slow burn romance because I would’ve easily read 800 pages of this and LAPPED IT UP. Eve Brown was by far my favourite book in this trilogy and I know I’ll be re-reading this sooner rather than later!
