WWW Wednesday 26.05.2021 | READING ALL THE ROMANCES (AND LOVING IT!) πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ’•πŸ’•πŸ’•

Hi friends, welcome back to my blog! Today I’m coming to you with a new reading update for this past week! I’ve been in a really really good reading mood lately, to the point where I haven’t watched a single movie this month and I’m hardly listening to any music, which is completely unlike me, but also I’m really enjoying all of these different stories I’m reading!

So far this month I’ve read 4 new releases and I’m honestly so proud of myself and hoping to read at least one more before the month is up! I’m also contuing last week’s theme of being super into romance, so if anyone has any good 2021 romance recommendations!

The Viscount Who Loved Me |Β  πŸ”πŸŽ§

My Goodreads Review | My StoryGraph Review

I don;t have a whole lot about The Viscount Who Loved Me except that I’m having an interesting time going back and re-reading this series now that I’ve actually finished the series and I know everything that happens, and also having seen the show. Julia Quinn’s love interests are so much more appealing when they’re not in their own books. I love Anthony but when he’s the main character he’s borderline unbearable and treats kate like a child and that’s also the way he talks about her a lot of the time which is completely disgusting. The man is either horny dot com or talking about her like he’s her dad… it’s n a s t y and not in a good way. And the same can be said for the other men in the series. Benedict is full on and forcesful and Colin has legit anger issues and manhandles Penelope for all of his book, but we never see any of that in the other books.

Lost in the Never Woods by Aiden Thomas

My Goodreads ReviewΒ |Β My StoryGraph Review

Aiden Thomas really said Rise of The Guardians but make it Peter Pan!
This was one of my most anticipated releases of the year and while it wasn’t a total letdown, it definitely didn’t live up to how much I’d hyped it up in my head! I love Peter Pan retellings and there were aspects of this that I adored, like Aiden Thomas’ writing and the little insights we got into Peter, but other than that, this felt undercooked and like it needed to go through a few more edits before getting published.

This felt like a cliche fanfic idea that had a lot of potential but missed the mark! Some really interesting ideas and character descriptions that make me think this would’ve been better as an animation or graphic novel, rather than a book.

  1. Yesss! Act Your Age, Eve Brown is so good! I hope you love it! I’m currently reading several books, but the two I’m focusing on the most are The Duke Undone, which is a really different kind of historical romance in some ways, and The Heart Principle, which I started reading the day I got my e-ARC!

I hope your good reading mood continues!

    1. It’s so good, I’ve already read it twice this year! πŸ˜‚ I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if I read it again for a third time before the end of the year!

Ooh what’s he Duke Undone about? Did you enjoy it? Oh gosh, I’m so excited for The Heart Principle, but I’ve heard it’s darker than the other books?

Thank you so much, Malka! 😍😍

      1. So The Duke Undone is a historical romance, but it’s pretty unexpected? The main character is basically a high functioning alcoholic. There are plots and ploys and discussions of slums and mismanaged government. I liked it more for the social commentary than the romance. I ended up giving it only 3 stars because of that.

The Heart Principle is fantastic, but boy is it gut-wrenching. It’s definitely darker than the other two books. It’s a deep dive into mental health and toxic people/environments and so, so much more. It made me so angry and so sad and honestly it was a powerful book. The romance took a side part because of that, but the story was so engaging that I rated it 5 stars regardless. Definitely not a comfort book like The Kiss Quotient is for me, but still really great. (Look at me giving a whole review in your comments section πŸ˜‚)
