March Statistics Wrap Up ⇀ 2021 Stats πŸ˜¬πŸ™ˆβŒπŸ“š

Hi friends, welcome back to my blog! Last month I had a lot of fun going through my February stats with you all so I figured why not keep this going for the rest of the year? I think this will be an interesting experiement, especially during uni terms!

So far, 2021 is going really well reading-wise and I’ve already read 81 books . So yeah, I hope you enjoy this post… let’s get to talkin’ stats!

You can find my March wrap up here. I always go through all of the books I read throughout the month, as well as the tv and movies I watched.

Graphs

Graphs copied from my Storygraph profile & my Notion pages – you can find my blog post about those here.
*Some of the graphs can be a bit hard to read and I’m limited by block sizes and screen so click on the images for a close-up!

Pace

2021 has consisted of a lot of fast paced books and March clearly was no different! I didn’t read much in March but I think the romance novels and comics ar to thank for the big slpit between paces, and then of course, you have The Secret History skewing the graph because it was so slow-paced! I am hoping to read a bit more next month so I’m interested to see how varied the paces will be, or if I really do gravitate towards more fast-paced books over anything else!

Page Number

In February it was really bugging me how so many of the books I read were around the 300-page mark but honestly it’s a miracle that I read anythign at all in March so I won’t complain this time around. I managed to read one big book before Uni started but now that we’re starting to have assessments due, I doubt we’ll see any improvements above the 300 page mark.

Fiction / Non Fiction

I was doing really well with reading non-fiction steadily in January and February and I even had a great non-fiction on my Libby tbr but I just never got around to it! I get the feeling this graph will stay the same for most of 2021 but hopefully it’ll change a bit every now and then.

Star Rating & Average Rating

In January and February I read mostly 3 star books so my average rating stayed pretty similar until March hit me like a wrecking ball with mostly 1 and 2 star books and now suddenly my average rating for March is 2.34 and it would’ve been so much worse if I hadn’t read a really good comic in the last couple of days of the month!

In January I read mostly 3 star books which is pretty normal for me, so unshockingly the same thing happened this month. Honestly, the most impressive thing to me, is that I read so many 4-5 star reads! Two whole 5 star reads!

Also, my overall average rating on Goodreads is 3.49 if anyone’s curious πŸ‘€πŸ‘€

Average: 2.32 β

Genres

If you look at the graph (just left click on it and the image will be bigger and easier to read) you can see that in terms of genres, my reading throughout the year has been pretty different, though I have stuck to the same genres, not really delving into anything else like Fabulism or thrillers. I am suprised I read more fantasy than romance though, since the general trend with me has been the opposite lately. Oh weel, again, I’m excited to see what my redaing looks like in April!

Also, for reference I’m labelling historical romance as anything set before 1980 and romance as anything after (yes, it’s harsh but I was born in 2000 so everything from the 1900s sounds medieval to me.)

I also haven’t labelled any as β€œmixed” because that just gets too confusing and I like to have straight and easy to read stats. So, a lot of these could easily be Fantasy and Romance but I’ve labelled them as Fantasy just because, to me, it makes more sense as an overal genre vibe.

Age Range

I read no middle grade this month which was disappointing but, I managed to read more adult than YA which honestly, at this point it’s crazy that I’m reading any at all because I seem to dislike a lot of the YA that I read (not a criticism of the age range, I’m just growing out of it).

Aaaaaand that’s it! These are all of my stats for the month! I think I did pretty damn well this month, I read a pretty diversely in terms of genres which I’m really happy with and I managed to read a few big books which always makes me happy!

Let me know if there are any other stats you’d be interested in seeing and I’ll add them into future stats posts! And please let me know how February went for you in the comments!
