Hi friends, welcome back to my blog and welcome to Tag Monday! This is a new feature on my blog that I’m hoping to keep up with for the whole of 2021. I’ve been a bit slack with posting over the last year so I’m hoping that having a dedicated day to write up some tag answers will give me the motivation to also write other posts and talk with all of you!
Today I’m doing the TBR Tag because I’ve been going through my Goodreads tbr a lot lately to try and transfer it over to the StoryGraph, so I figured why not do the tag to go with the activity?!
The original tag was created by A Perfection Called Books and you can find it here.
01 How do you keep track of your TBR book pile?
I have a few shelves on Goodreads where I keep track fo different tbrs that I have on the go. I have a tbr for comics, manga and graphic novels. As well as a tbr for my romance reads, general series and then my anticipated releases.
I also have tag shelves on The StoryGraph where I keep track of my tbrs for different genres and storytypes. So far I’m really enjoying this tagging system and I know it will come in handy in the future for different blog posts.
02 Is your TBR mostly print or eBook?
I’m very much an audiobook reader so neither. 😂 But, if I had to choose one of the two I’d go with print since I do read a lot of comics physically!
03 How do you determine which book from your TBR to read next?
I either choose from my tbr that I post at the beginning of the month or I find whatever book I’m in the mood for in the moment. I’m a big mood reader but I’m also really oriented by lists so it’s usually in between the 2 when I’m picking my next read.
04 A book that’s been on your TBR list the longest?
On my tbr since Jan 2019
I’ve actually read a lot of the backlist books on my Goodreads tbr already so I really had no idea which book would turn up when I searched through my shelves. But, the book that came up was We Awaken by Calista Lynne and all I know is it has ace rep and a pretty cover.
05 A book you recently added to your TBR?
A Dead Djinn in Cairo by P. Djèlí Clark
I recently saw the third book in this series being advertised on Tor’s instagram and I thought the covers looked really cool + I’m always a sucker for Tor novellas so I figured this would be right up my alley! I haven’t listened to this one yet but I wager it will be in my wrap up for either February or March!
06 A book in your TBR strictly because of its beautiful cover?
Okay, so I generally don’t add a book to my tbr just because of the cover. There has to be something about the actual book that has me interested otherwise it doesn’t go on my tbr, though I do always appreciatea good cover when I’m going through my reading challenges on either Goodreads or The StoryGraph. I was going through my tbr shelf on Goodreads though and Aru Shah and the Tree of Wishes really stood out to me. I’m already planning on reading this series at some point but the covers are absolutely stunning and I especially love the colours in this cover!
07 A book on your TBR that you never plan on reading?
Uhhh that is literally not a thing with me. I regularly go through my shelves nd delete books that I’m no longer interested in. i haven’t done this in a few months though, so I would have to go with How To Stop Time by Matt Haig, it has some elements that intrigue me (I think it’s somehow Shakespeare related???) but I’m just not interested enough in it and I doubt I’ll ever actually make time to read it so I’m taking it off my tbr.
08 An unpublished book on your TBR that you’re excited for?
I have a whole shelf dedicated to anticipated releases and I don’t even know where to start for this question. I can think of some 2021 releases I’m really excited about but there are also a bunch of later releases that I’m already excited about so I’ll just add a few covers!
09 A book on your TBR that basically everyone’s read but you?
I could go with the Narnia series since I’ve only read the first 2 books but lately I’ve been feeling like everyone but me has read You Should See Me in a Crown by Leah Johnson and I’m getting mighty jealous but my library doesn’t have the audiobook yet!
10 A book on your TBR that everyone recommends to you?
I feel like I’ve been recommended the Bone Season series a few times and I have actually started the series last month so I’m really excited to make some progress with the series, especially since it’s adult fantasy which I know I don’t read enough of.
11 A book on your TBR that you’re dying to read?
I have A LOT of books on my tbr at the moment, and I have a whole pile of books on my immediate tbr, but today I had the really intense urge to read House of Earth and Blood by Srah J Maas so I think that’s going to be one of the books that I read next.
I really enjoy Adult fantasty and adult romances and I enjoy how SJM balances the two so I’m really excited to get to this one asap.
12 How many book are on your TBR shelf?
I have four tbr shelves on Goodreads that I keep up with so right now, the combined total of the four is 268.
What are you currently reading?
Do you have a tbr shelf?
Goodreads | StoryGraph | Instagram | Letterboxd | TV Time | Twitter | Tumblr
