Hi friends, welcome back to my blog and welcome to Tag Monday! This is a new feature on my blog that I’m hoping to keep up with for the whole of 2021. I’ve been a bit slack with posting over the last year so I’m hoping that having a dedicated day to write up some tag answers will give me the motivation to also write other posts and talk with all of you!
So, today I’m starting with the Goodreads tag, which is of course, ironic as I’ve been using my StoryGraph account more regularly this year, over my Goodreads. At the moment I’m still updating them both every week, but I’m hoping to completely switch over to The StoryGraph once there are more users!
I couldn’t find the original source for this tag, but if I do I’ll update it here.
01 What was the last book you read?

Any Duchess Will Do – Tessa Dare
The last book I read, I actually started and finished this morning and it’s the fourth book in the Spindle Cove series by Tessa Dare. It was far better than the previous book which I didn’t like, but not as good as the first two! I really enjoyed the main characters and it has me excited to read book 5 asap!
02 What are you currently reading?

Lord Dashwood Missed Out (novella) – Tessa Dare
I’m currently reading book 4.5 in the same series! I haven’t read any of Tessa Dare’s novellas before but this was the first one I could find availble on audio on my library service so I figured Id give it a go. And if I end up not loving it, it’s only short anyway. I have no idea who the heck Lord Dashwood is but I’m very intrigued, none the less.
03 What was the last book your marked as tbr?

Do You Want to Start a Scandal – Tessa Dare
I have a few tbrs on Goodreads because I prefer to be very specific about my shelves, but the last book I added to goodreads was added to my Lowkey Romance TBR shelf. The most recent book I added was book five in the same series I’ve mentioned in this tag so far. As you can tell, I have just recently discovered the series and have been reading it pretty much none stop over the last few days. I think book 5 is the last one though, so I’m sure I’ll find a new series to binge sooner or later!
04 What book do you plan to read next?

North and South
The Assassin’s Blade
The Bone Season
The Honey-Don’t List
a
I’m honestly not sure what I’m going to read next. I have a few books I’m currently in the middle of but I also have a book I really want to get to before the end of the month. I think I can get to them all, though they are all completely different genres so I think that will be the only challenge for me. I’ve been in such a mood to read romances this month, and I only have two left on my tbr…
05 Do you use the star rating system?
I do! I always give what I’m reading a star rating but more often than not I clarify in my review if I’ve given quarter of half stars! One of the main things that I prefer about The Storygraph is the quater stars, it makes everything so much easier when it comes to ratings your books and eventually looking up stats!
06 Are you doing a 2020 reading challenge?
Yes I am! I Every year I add a Goodreads goal to my yearly goals and this year I went with my usual 100 books. Last year I read just over 150 books so I’m feeling very confident that I’ll blow this challenge out of the water, but I’m not going to get overconfident with my challenge knowing how unpredictable 2020 was and how it affected my reading.
07 Do you have a wishlist?
I do but not on Goodreads. I have one on Bookdepository and Amazon but, I prefer to just use Goodreads more as somewhere to caalogue my reading, instead of cataloguing my wishlists.
08 What do you plan to buy next?

All Systems Red – Martha Wells
I don’t generally buy books unless I know I’m going to re-read it multiple times in the future, or if it’s a comic (because I SERIOUSLY love my comics shelf). So, I don’t remember the last book I bought but I think it was a comic and I doubt I’ll buy another book until Mother’s Day and even then it won’t be for me. π I’m very much a library reader and even then, so many of the books I read are audiobooks, so I really am the worst person to answer this question.
If I was to tweak it to which book will I borrow next, it will probably be All Systems Red by Martha Wells since I’m going to make an effort to read more novellas in February since they’re some of my favourite types of books to read and I haven’t been making an effort to read them lately.
09 Do you have any favourite quotes? Share a few.
My children, who don’t know they play on a graveyard.
– Mockingjay
Generally I find men are a lot more concerned with limiting the freedoms of women than exercising personal freedom for themselves.
– Normal People
It’s funny, isn’t it? So often men see betrayal in what you’ve done instead of how you feel.
– One True Loves
10 Who are your favourite authors?
- Emily Rodda
- Kerri Maniscalco
- Ray Bradbury
- Lois Lowry
- Brandon Sanderson
11 Have you joined any groups?
I’m a part of a few groups but honestly I rarely interact with them anymore. I used to be active on the Top 5 Wednesday group with blog posts etc. but that was a few years ago and these days if I’m on Goodreads, it’s mostly just to update what I’ve read or to add a book to a shelf.
