JANUARY TBR ⇀ Kicking off 2021! βœ¨πŸ“šπŸŒ»

January is more about getting to know what kind of a reader and blogger and in general, human I want to be in 2021. So, I’m mostly planning on getting my blog schedule sorted and reading as much as I can, since last month I tried to watch a movie every day. I have a few buddy reads planned for this month but apart from that I’m really hoping to just relax, listen to a bunch of audiobooks and play animal crossing.

I haven’t added the comics, maga of graphic novels on my tbr to this post because I’ll have a seperate blog post for those. But, I thought I’d mention here that a mini round of Graphicsathon is happening again from the 16th of January to the 19th in your time zone!

  • A Darker Shade of Magic, A Gathering of Shadows, A Conjuring of Light ↣ 🌈🎧 ↣ I tried to read book one in this series a few years ago and got roughly halfway (i think) but ended up putting it down for whatever reason, and I just never picked it up again. But, it’s a new year and I’m a (not so) new gal so I’m going to finally read this series if it kills me.
  • The Honey Don’t List ↣ πŸ“š ↣ I’m reading this for a fun new series I’m doing with a friend and I honestly couldn’t be more excited about it.
  • Hammer and Tongs ↣ 🎧 ↣ I know absolutely nothing about this except that it’s short so I’ve got my fingers crossed.
  • Across The Green Grass Fields ↣ ❀🎧🌈 ↣ The annual January Wayward Children novel.
Magic Lessons (Practical Magic)
The Rules of Magic
Practical Magic
Tower of Dawn (Throne of Glass #6)
Annihilation (Southern Reach, #1)

  • Magic Lessons, Practical Magic, The Rules of Magic ↣ πŸŽ§πŸ”πŸŒˆ ↣ I was recently gifted Magic Lessons for Chrsitmas so I figure, now is as good a time as any to read some more Alice Hoffman and re-read two of my favourite books I’ve ever read.
  • The Assassin’s Blade ↣ 🌻🎧 ↣ Why yes, I am starting the Throne of Glass series and yes, I am very scared. Thank you for asking.
  • Annihilation ↣ 🌈🎧 ↣ I’m always looking for new weird short books to read and this seems to fit the bill!

Have you read any of these books?
What are your reading plans for the month?

  1. I hope you get to all these great books this month! I really loved The Honey Don’t List, I would just say don’t expect it to be too light and fluffy. But it’s a great book, I hope you enjoy it and all the other books on your tbr!

    1. Thank you, so far I’ve only read one because I got really stuck into regency romances??? But, I am really excited to get stuck into my tbr soon!!
That’s really helpful thank you, I was expecting a fluffy read so I’m glad I know that going forward!

  2. Oooh, I just got a whole bunch of graphic novels out from the library that I planned on reading this month! Maybe I’ll save a few for the Graphicsathon!

I’m super curious to see what you think of the A Darker Shade of Magic series! I read it a while back, but I remember really enjoying them, so hopefully you’ll enjoy them as well! But I’m even more curious about what you’ll think of the Throne of Glass series! I feel like it’s super polarizing at this point!

I hope that this is a read reading month for you, and is a great start to 2021 in general!

    1. So far I’m really intrigued by the ADSOM series. I found book 1 interesting but didn’t *love* the characters so I’m hoping they’ll be hit by the character development stick and I’ll learn to love them!

Oh boy, I just finished reading the prequel to the TOG series and… y i k e s
I am definitely interested to see what I think of book one because the prequel was really bad, but I also don’t feel any attachment to the characters yet so I think that was part of the problem. Have you read the series?

January is going SO WELL so far, reading-wise and I can’t wait for February!

        1. Ahh okay, thank you! I doubt I’ll ever think about the prequels again but yeah, I had no idea what was going on… πŸ˜‚

Yeah, I don’t think this is going to be the series for me but I enjoyed ACOUTAR so much so I think I’m slightly in denial! I’m definitely going to give the series a go and decide a few books in if I want to continue it!

  3. Sounds like a good way to start 2021, Ellyn. I’ve been using the new year to take stock too and decide what I want to cut & grow during 2021.
I hope you enjoy your books and I look forward to reading your thoughts about them.

    1. Yes, 2020 put a lot in perspective for me so 2021 is all about being realistic and cutting out the things I don’t need in my life!

Thank you! My wrap up is definitely going to be a long one, I’m currently reading my 41st book! πŸ˜‚
