The End of The Year Book Tag | Thank God 2020 Is Almost Over

2020 is almost over so you know what that means! We’ve got to do a tag! I meant to do this a month and a bit ago but never got around to it, so now we’ve got a week left in the year and either I do it now or wait a year, so here we are!

Watch the original tag here.

1 ARE THERE ANY BOOKS YOU STARTED THIS YEAR AND NEED TO FINISH?

I’m still mid-way through Batman Volume 4 and A Court of Wings and Ruin. I’m really enjoying them both so far so I’ve got my fingers crossed that I manage to finih them both by the end of the year! 🀞🀞🀞

2 DO YOU HAVE AN AUTUMNAL BOOK TO TRANSITON INTO THE END OF THE YEAR?

Well… it’s actually Summer here in Australia and I don’t really have any sunny contemporaries on my tbr at the moment so no, not right now.

3 ARE THERE ANY 2020 RELEASES YOU’RE STILL WAITING FOR?

There actually aren’t though, When the Tiger Came Down the Mountain by Nghi Vo just came out this month and I highly recommend it!

4 THREE BOOKS YOU WANT TO READ BY THE END OF THE YEAR.

  • Middlegame by Seanan McGuire
  • In the Dream House by Carmen Maria Machado
  • Magic Lessons by Alice Hoffman

5 IS THERE A BOOK YOU THINK COULD STILL SHOCK YOU AND BECOME YOUR FAVOURITE READ OF THE YEAR?

I honestly don’t think so, unless it’s Magic Lessons by Alice Hoffman since I ALWAYS love her books and they end up being some of my favourite reads of whatever year I read them in! That being said, I read The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue yesterday and I’m pretty sure it’s my favourite read of 2020.

6 HAVE YOU STARTED MAKING YOUR 2021 PLANS?

I have, but only roughly! 2020 has been all-encompassing and hasn’t left a whole lot of room to think about anythign else. I’m sure I’ll do some hardcore 2021 planning after Xmas!

  1. I really want to try reading Alice Hoffman’s books in the next year. I will devour anything that is centred around witches so I don’t understand why I don’t own and haven’t read them yet.

The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue is one of my favourite 2020 reads too. I knew it would be from the moment I read the opening line and it certainly didn’t disappoint.

    1. I absolutely LOVE Alice Hoffman’s writing and I love her Practical Magic series, it’s definitely magic realism/low-magic and her books are more character-focused than anything else but that’s why I love them!
I’d be down for a buddy read if your tbr isn’t already too full and you need some motivation to read them!?

It was SO GOOD! I’ve only ever read 2 of Schwab’s books so I had no idea what to expect but I was pleasantly surprised!

    1. Yes, hot Summers are all I’ve ever known so less snowy Xmas and more Air-con Xmas, please!

Addie LaRue is so good, I listened to it on audiobook and absolutely devoured it!
