MAY WRAP UP πŸ“š | I went from reading every day to an assessment-induced reading slump!

wrapupfeature1

Hey guys, welcome back to my blog! Today I’m showing you all the book I read in May

If March felt like the longest month I’ve ever lived through, and April flew by in a few days then May

My goal this month was low-key to hit at least 20 reads and also to read big books and I’d say I well and truly did that as most of the books I read were over 400 pages and also wow I read a lot this month! I think I’m going to try and slow it down next month so I don’t burn myself out but wow, I don’t know what my wrap up will look like next month because I officially will have no Uni assignment to submit so I’ll… just be reading??? An insane concept tbh.

Also, excuse me if thi spost looks a little bit shaky, I’m still getting used to the new WP editor. I’m not liking it at all so it’s taking me a while to get used to it and understand it!

  • The Guest List [02/05] – 🎧 – 3 ⭐ – This book sounded amazing but unfortunately it wasn’t as good as I hoped it would be. Definitely check out my Goodreads review because I go more into depth about my thoughts on it.
  • City of Lost Souls [03 – 04/05] – πŸŽ§πŸ”πŸŒˆ – 2.75 ⭐ – I have been bamboozled!
  • Mockingjay [05/05] – πŸŽ§πŸŒ»πŸ” – 3 ⭐ – Buddy read with Rebecca – Ultimately underwhelming. Don’t go into this looking for a big battle scene, it’s more so the behind the scenes and intricacies of a rebellion/war ft. tv spots and product placement for dummies
  • The Serpent’s Shadow [06/05] – 🌻🎧 – 3 ⭐ – Buddy read with Destiny – I’ve just learned that this series was written *after* PJO and honestly, what went wrong??? I really thought this was Riordan’s debut series because PJO (the actual debut) is so clearly better written! I’m so confused right now.
  • Breaking Dawn [07/05] – πŸŽ§πŸ” – 2.5 ⭐ – All Bella wanted was that vampire D and Edward was like go big or go home, I guess πŸ˜‚
  • Normal People [08/05] – 🎧 – 4 ⭐ – I really have no idea how to articulate my thoughts on this book. This was fantastic, I can’t wait to watch the show, my heart hurts a little after reading this! Please check out the triggers before reading!
  • Check, Please Vol 1 [09/05] – 🌻🌈 – 5 ⭐ – Buddy read with Destiny – Bitty is so cute! I can’t believe I’ve had this sitting on my shelves for so long!!
Check, Please!, Book 2: Sticks & Scones
Clockwork Princess (The Infernal Devices, #3)
Station Eleven
City of Heavenly Fire (The Mortal Instruments, #6)

  • Check, Please Vol 2 [10/05] – 🌻🌈 – 5 ⭐ – Buddy read with Destiny – Oh my lord, I am emotional! I feel like a proud mum!!
  • Clockwork Princess [10 – 12/05] – πŸŽ§πŸ” – 3.5 ⭐ – Definitely not as good as y’all said it would be.
  • Station Eleven [13 – 14/05] – 🎧 – 4.5 ⭐ – This was such a hard read but it was fantastic and I’m glad I read it!
  • City of Heavenly Fire [14 – 16/05] – πŸŒ»πŸŽ§πŸ” – 3.5 ⭐ – Buddy read with Destiny – Very long, and not much plot stuff actually happened when you get down to it, but definitely one of the better books in the series!
  • The Lightning Thief [18 – 19/05] – πŸŒ»πŸŽ§πŸ” – 3 ⭐ – Buddy read with Destiny – I had so much fun re-reading this and I already can’t wait to read book 2!
  • Ninth House [21/05] – 🎧✨ – 3.75 ⭐ – This wasn’t 5 star material dark academia that I’ll be thinking about for the rest of my life but I did genuinely enjoy reading it and I’ll be checking out the sequel! rtc

  • Twilight [07/05] – 2 ⭐ – Oh my god πŸ™„πŸ˜‚
  • New Moon [08/05] – 2.5 ⭐ – This gets a higher rating than Twilight because they finally got rid of the weird blue filter and because of the cliff jumping scene with the water. That’s it.
  • Eclipse [08/05] – 3 ⭐ – I think this is a lot of people’s favourite in the series but I couldn’t wait for it to be over.
  • Breaking Dawn Part 1 [08/05] – 3 ⭐ – I actually don’t hate this movie because everything is so damn pretty and R Pats smiling *swoons* but as soon as they got to Forks I was so bored oh my god
  • Persuasion [11/05] – 3 ⭐ – I love this movie in all of it’s weird glory!
  • Mansfield Park [12/05] – 3.5 ⭐ – A lot of changes from the book but, genuinely a good movie!
  • Something Borrowed [17/05] – 2.5 ⭐ – The love interest looked like a  mix of Tom Cruise and Robbie Amell and I’m ngl, it was weird.

  • He’s Just Not That Into You [17/05] – 3 ⭐ – One of the dudes in this movie looked like a younger Keanu Reeves and that’s all I thought about the whole time I was watching this.
  • Tarzan [20/05] – 3 ⭐ – Killer soundtrack, good animation but overall kind of underwhelming.
  • Ghosts of Girlfriends Past [23/05] – 0.5 ⭐ – I can’t believe that 10 year old me loved this.
  • Beauty and the Beast [26/05] – 2.5 ⭐ – The only thing I really like about this movie is the blue dress Belle wears at the start of the movie.
  • The Matrix [26/05] – 4.5 ⭐ – I love this movie and I honestly watching it might have been a bad idea because as soon as I finsihed watching it I spent the rest of the month persuading myself not to re-watch it.
  • The Matrix Reloaded [26/05] – 3 ⭐ – This wasn’t terrible but it was nowhere near as good as the first one. Also, I love Neo and I love Trininty but they have the chemistry of a rock and a spoon. Honestly.
  • The Matrix Revolutions [26/05] – 2.5 ⭐ – The only thing I was thinking while watching this movie was “Damn, their water bill must have been off the charts!”

  • Singin’ In The Rain [27/05] – 3.5 ⭐ – I’m ngl, I actually really enjoyed this! It’s a really fun look at the intersection between silent films and the move to sound!
  • Enchanted [28/05] – 4 ⭐ – The fact that they somehow made a movie musical with Idina Menzel and didn’t get her to sing seems illegal to me but okay. In all seriousness, I love this movie and I already want to rewatch it.
  • Space Force Season 1 [31/05] – 3.75 ⭐ – I hardly ever watch tv shows any more and I definitely never binge them but I literally spent the entire day watching this and LOVING IT! I just have such a soft spot for Greg Daniels’ work, he’s never let me down! (for reference, he’s behind Parks & Rec, The Office + Upload)

  1. You read so much!! You’re amazing. I loved our buddy reads! Also, omg, I am DETERMINED to find a way to watch that edition of Persuasion soon. I can’t find it (legally anyways πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚) ANYWHERE in the US! Maybe I can find a used copy on eBay…

    1. Ahh, honestly I felt like I didn’t read that much this month but I did read some big books so yeah, go me! πŸ˜‚ I love our buddy reads too, they’re motivating me to read so much more!!
Ooh, have you tried 123movies? I usually watch on there when streaming services don’t have the movie I’m looking for.

    1. Haha, I never feel like I read I read very much so it makes me happy to read you say that! Also, omg yes Enchanted was such a fun movie to watch! I had such a great time!

      1. Lol, seriously so impressive. I’m a slow reader and have never been able to finish more than 9 a month haha.

YAS! Enchanted is so much fun. Kind of wish there was some sort of sequel lol. Glad you enjoyed it! 😊

        1. Honestly, 9 is really impressive, and some months I don’t even reach that!

I think there is a sequel in the works,,, I’m not sure if it’s been put on hold permanently but I’m pretty sure there’s a script and they might have started working on the music. It’s called Disenchanted if you’re curious!

  2. Aaah, this new editor is THE WORST πŸ˜₯ I’m hoping someone posts a little guide on how to work it soon, because I am totally lost. I agree with you about The Guest List! I thought it would be better, but the characters sort of all blurred together for me. I did enjoy the ending which is why I also ended up giving it 3 stars, but I felt like it could have been a lot better.

    1. I know! I feel like it’s so restricting and the whole clean aesthetic is cool at first but actually it makes everything so much harder to find and then use! I’m crossing my fingers for a guide too!

Yeah, I feel like the blurb sounded fantastic but the book did not live up to the hype for me!
