MAY TBR // reading BIG books! πŸ“š

tbrfeature

Hi guys, welcome back to my blog! Today I’m coming to you with my May tbr! In April I put a lot of focus on reading the comics and manga on my physical tbr so I didn’t get as many full books read as I would’ve liked so, this month I’d really like to focus on reading some of the backlist books on my tbr & reading with my friends, so I have a few buddy reads on my tbr too!

The Well of Ascension (Mistborn, #2) The Hero of Ages (Mistborn, #3) Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban The Serpent's Shadow (Kane Chronicles, #3) The Lightning Thief (Percy Jackson and the Olympians, #1)

  • The Well of Ascension & The Hero of Ages – I re-read the first book in this series last month and loved it so I’d really love to finish out the trilogy this month!
  • The Prisoner of Azkaban – This is one of my least favourite books in the series but nevertheless, the re-read must continue!
  • The Serpent’s Shadow & The Lightning Thief – Destiny and I are continuing on with our Riordan buddy read, I personally can’t wait to see how The Kane Chronicles ends, and then to start one of my favourite series! What a month!

Mockingjay (The Hunger Games, #3) The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes (The Hunger Games, #0) City of Lost Souls (The Mortal Instruments, #5) Clockwork Princess (The Infernal Devices, #3) City of Heavenly Fire (The Mortal Instruments, #6)

  • Mockingjay & The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes – Last month Rebecca and I buddy read the first two books in the series so hopefully, we’ll finish the trilogy soon and then read the prequel together when it comes out!
  • City of Lost Souls, Clockwork Princess & City of Heavenly Fire – Piera Forde recently read the entire Mortal Instruments series and it really inspired me to finally get back to reading Cassandra Clare’s books because I actually started Lost Souls last year and ended up hitting pause because I wasn’t liking it. I’m hoping a little time off will help me just blast through these books so I can get to her later books!

  1. I can’t believe I’ve actually read all the series on your TBR! (I obviously haven’t read he Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes yet, though). It feels like it’s been so long since I read a series! The companion series to the Mistborn trilogy is really good, by the way! It’s a very different vibe from the first series, but I really enjoyed reading it! I hope you enjoy whatever you end up reading and that you have a wonderful May!

    1. Haha, I’m glad! I love reading series and try to make an effort to incorporate them into my tbrs regularly!
Oh, that’s good to know! I feel like people don’t really talk about the companion series and I’ve always planned on continuing so, that makes me a lot more confident! I’ve heard it has a detective/buddy cop vibe??

Thank you, Malka, it’s always a joy chatting with you! πŸ’–πŸ’– I hope you have a great May!!

  2. Lol I had the very same urge to read the Mortal Instruments. I’ve tried reading both the Mortal Instruments and the Infernal Devices multiple times but never finished either series. There’s just something that doesn’t click with me? Even though I want to love them? City of Lost Souls had the best cover but it was the deal breaker for me too. I could never trudge through the slow plot and angst. Here’s hoping that we’ll both finally pull through! Maybe this time we’ll even love it?

    haha – good luck comrade! πŸ˜‰ ❀

    1. I can honestly say that I think TID is better, but TMI does have some good points too! I think it really depends on what you’re looking for ina series tbh! There’s definitely a lot more teen angst in TMI, whereas, TID is more heavily based around the love triangle etc etc.

I completely understand what you mean, I was reading CoLS last night and thinking to myself, why am I doing this?? This is legitimately a bad book and I don’t like it so why am I making myself read it??? Let,s just say that I can’t wait to be done with this series. I’ll try her newer trilogy but if I don’t like it, I think I’ll just stop reading the books tbh.
In terms of ColS, the first half had me drowning in angst, and I was very unhappy while reading it, the second half was a lot better and I was really surprised that I was starting to enjoy it! (then something happened and I was… displeased, to say the least – it’s in my Goodreads updates for the book if you’re curious).

Fingers crossed that we can do it this time!! 🀞🀞🀞

      Good luck! πŸ’–
