APRIL WRAP UP | 30 IN 30 DAYS!

Hey guys, welcome back to my blog! Today I’m showing you all the book I read in April and it’s actually so many books??!!? This month, because I both had so much extra time and also a bunch of assignments due, I decided this would be the perfect time to challenge myself to do 30 in 30! I enlisted Destiny to do it with me so I didn’t chicken out after day 2. I’m not gonna lie, not only did I manage to read 30 books but I’m actually proud of what I read. I also wanted to read a lot more this month than I have in the last few months and it was amazing to get back into the groove of things! I’m sure some if this is due to procrastination and the Stay Home Reading Rush but, I genuinely had a lot of fun reading this month so I’ll definitely be doing this again in the future!

Also, I passed 800 followers on my blog this month so I wanted to quickly thank you all! You have no idea how much this means to me! Thank you so much!

Slightly new format but I needed a change so here are all the books that were on my tbr for the month (and whether or not I read them) and then I’ll get into the mini reviews and star ratings!

• Dracula [01/04] – 3.5 ⭐ – This actually wasn’t bad, like I would actually re-read this. But, it was definitely way too long!
• Giant Days Vol 9 [02/04] – 4 ⭐ –  I am shocked by how much I missed these characters!!
• Giant Days Vol 10 [03/04] – 3.75 ⭐ – I love Ed Gemmel and McGraw with his stupid moustache and I need you all to know that.
• A-Force Presents Vol 1 [04/04] – 3 ⭐ – This was a pretty good introductory comic, and I’d actually like to see a few more of these types of comics for other characters, I think it’d be a great way to meet all-new characters in the marvel comics. But, this was definitely a cash grab since there are more volumes of this just with the next issues for each character.
• The Red Pyramid [05/04] – 4 ⭐ – Buddy Read with Destiny – Carter and Sadie Kane are the cutest two kids in the world and I love them both.
• Fence Vol 1 [06/04] – 3 ⭐ – Make a note, that by page 3 the angst was already too much for me. I genuinely think this will get better as the characters develop and as the plot picks up but so far this is just a lot of fluff (aka, no plot yet) and teen angst ft. fencing.
• Fence Vol 2 [07/04] – 3 ⭐ – This was definitely more fun for me, but I’m not loving the series so far.

 

• Jurassic Park [08/04] – 4.5 ⭐ – I can’t believe I put off reading this for so many years because it turns out this is amazing!!
• Fence Vol 3 [09/04] – 3.5 ⭐ – I’m actually pretty sad that this got discontinued as a comic series because this was finally getting good! I’m definitely interested to see how I feel about this story as a novel, I get the feeling I won’t enjoy it as much.
• Spider-Gwen Vol 0 [10/04] – 3 ⭐ – Funnily enough even though this is an introduction to Gwen, this isn’t an origin story.  I recommend checking out the Spider-Verse event comics for some context and/or watching the Spider-Verse movie with Miles Morales because they got her character spot on in that movie, also it’s a really good movie!
• The Hunger Games [11/04] – 4.5 ⭐ –  Buddy Read with Rebecca – This was amazing oh my god holy shit
• Spider-Gwen Vol 1 [12/04] – 3 ⭐ – Better than volume 0 but still not great!
• The Final Empire [13/04] – 4.5 ⭐ – 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
• Soul Eater Vol 1 [14/04] – 3.5 ⭐ – So much fun!

 

• A Silent Voice Vol 2 [15/04] – 4 ⭐ – I am really loving this series, I can’t wait to see how these characters develop!
• A Wrinkle In Time [16/04] – 4.5 ⭐ – I was definitely in need of a re-read, this is such an important story!
• A Wind in The Door [17/04] – 3 ⭐ – Fun but I definitely prefer book 1!
• The Foxhole Court [18/04] – 2 ⭐ – What the fuck did I just read???
• The Throne of Fire [18/04] – 3 ⭐ – Buddy Read with Destiny – This definitely felt like a 2nd book in a series, but it was good enough that I finished it in one day!
• The Raven King [19/04] – 3 ⭐ – Well, book 3 is certainly going to be interesting. This series is like some seriously fucked kind of torture porn.
• The King’s Men [20/04] – 3 ⭐ – This series was an actual dumpster fire will someone please tell me why I am seriously considering re-reading it???

  

• Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets [21/04] – 3 ⭐ – This book just made me appreciate the Weasley siblings and their dynamics so much more!
• Spider-Gwen Vol 2 [22/04] – 2 ⭐ – That was… not good. I have officially given up on this series!
• Giant Days Vol 11 [23/04] – 4 ⭐ – I have many heart eyes to give for these characters and I don’t know what I’m gonna do when this series ends!
• Giant Days Vol 12 [23/04] – 3 ⭐ – Not as good as the last volume but I love these characters so I suffered through all the random filler stuff!
• A Swiftly Tilting Planet [24/04] – 2.5 ⭐ – This wasn’t a bad book at all, I just don’t know what the point of it was.
• Catching Fire [29/04] – 4.5 ⭐ – Buddy Read with Rebecca – #TeamPeeta 😍😍😍
• The Atlantis Complex [30/04] – 3 ⭐ – A bit boring story-wise but I’m always happy to be back with these characters

• The Last Guardian [30/04] – 3 ⭐ – A bit boring but a whirlwind, slightly rushed ending that had me VERY emotional! Not the best finale, but not bad either!
• I’ll Give It My All… Tomorrow Vol 1 [30/04] – 2 ⭐ – Welp, I haven’t been that bored in a while. I would liken this to my experience watching My Neighbors the Yamadas, it’s just so boring!

• John Wick 2 [01/04] – 4 ⭐ – Definitely the weakest Wick movie, not as good as the first one BUT, it definitely has its moments!
• Wall-E [02/04] – 3.5 ⭐ – I love the idea of this movie but I’m a horrible person so I don’t actually love this movie.
• The Lorax [02/04] – 3.5 ⭐ – I actually love this movie but I think that’s just the nostalgia talking.
• Finding Nemo [02/04] – 3⭐ – The only thing I liked about this movie was the music because apparently, I don’t enjoy anything remotely fun.
• John Wick 3 [03/04] – 4.5 ⭐ – Without a doubt, this is the best John Wick movie so far!
• Buffy Season 1 [04 – 09/04] – 3.5 ⭐ – Okay, so I honestly don’t know what to say about this show. I like it and it’s fun, but I don’t love it and if I’m going to watch a David Boreanaz show I would rather watch Bones.
• The Hunger Games [11/04] – 3.5 ⭐ – This definitely wasn’t my favourite but still good enough for me to want to watch the second movie.

 

• Love. Wedding. Repeat. [11/04] – 2 ⭐- Terrible. What did I just watch?
• A Few Best Men [14/04] – 2 ⭐ – never happening again.
• 3 Men and A Baby [14/04] – 2.5 ⭐ – That was not… heterosexual.
• Mrs Doubtfire [14/04] – 2 ⭐ – I now refuse to watch any more of the movies from my childhood. What the fuck.
• Cow Belles [14/04] – 0.5 ⭐ – no
• A Wrinkle in Time [14/04] – 3 ⭐ – Actually not as bad as I remembered, but wow what terrible script-writing.
• The Pink Panther [18/04] – 4 ⭐ – I WANT TO BUY A DAMBOUGER

  

• Extraction [26/04] – 3.5 ⭐ – Amateur  John Wick vibes, with a video game feel, set in Bangladesh. Ft. Australian Chris Hemsworth who sweats a lot
• Jurassic Park 3 [28/04] – 4.5 ⭐ – A cinematic masterpiece *chefs kiss*
• Onward [28/04] – 3 ⭐ – A good message for kids but I doubt I’ll be watching it again any time soon.
• Speed [28/04] – 5 ⭐ – This movie is perfect and that’s the truth.
• Rebecca [29/04] – 3 ⭐ – Not bad, and now I kind of want to read the book.

• Buffering Episode 1 – Episode 9 [06/04 – ??] – I am LOVING listening to this podcast as I watch Buffy, it’s so much fun!
• Bones 1×01 – 1×14 [06/04 – ??] – I love this show and I live for Bones & Booth’s dynamic so I’m having a great time re-watching this show!
• ER 1×01 – 1×04 [27/04 – ??] – I have never wanted to watch this show but it turns out it’s amazing???
• Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Akaban – 16% [23/04 – ??] – This is maybe my least favourite book in the series, from what I can remember, but all the same I’m hoping to finish it off in May!
• The Well of Ascension – page 35 [13/04] – The romance is definitely ruining this experience for me but I’m hoping it will get better the more I read.
