Hi all! Welcome back to my blog! We’re all in a bit of a rut at the moment and a lot of us are stuck at home (Kudos to you if you’re still working!) so I thought today I would recommend some books to y’all based off Disney movies + a Dreamworks movie that I thought was a Disney movie!
ALADDIN – great romance, kind male x fierce female dynamic
ATLANTIS: THE LOST EMPIRE – smart main character, adventure
LILO AND STITCH – ohana means family
FROZEN – sisterly love
PETER PAN – dangerous boy, adventure
ALICE IN WONDERLAND – slightly unbalanced, dangerous
BEAUTY AND THE BEAST – fierce book smarts, full cast
THE LITTLE MERMAID – naive mc but great side characters
CINDERELLA – patient main character
BROTHER BEAR – unlikely friendship/mentorship
PINOCCHIO – mc is a lying liar who lies but also soft
FANTASIA– great audiobook, looks pretty
DUMBO – short and makes me emotional
THE JUNGLE BOOK – a great mass cast/ found family
THE MANY ADVENTURES OF WINNIE THE POOH – great but a little depressing if you squint
THE LION KING – DEATH but also great side characters
HERCULES – character development for multiple characters
MULAN – the only example of the miscommunication trope that I’ll actually accept
TARZAN – two worlds colliding
THE EMPEROR’S NEW GROOVE – it’s just a sass fest really + great one-liners
TANGLED – beautiful animation/artwork
+ BONUS: NOT A DISNEY MOVIE BUT, THE ROAD TO EL DORADO
: great friendship, a bit gay
ARE YOU A DISNEY FAN?
WHICH DISNEY MOVIES SHOULD I RECOMMEND BOOKS FOR NEXT?

Ooh this is such a fun idea, and I love all of your picks! I canβt believe how well Cinder works with Aladdin, and Three Dark Crowns seems unexpectedly perfect for Frozen. Also your description of Winnie the Pooh β βgreat but a little depressing if you squintβ β made me laugh. Itβs true! Haha I love that Mulan and Pride & Prejudice are the only examples of the miscommunication trope that youβll accept, because same. Wonderful post, I can tell that a lot of thought went into it!

Thank you, I’m glad you enjoyed it! π
I know, Cinder perfectly fits for Aladdin which is kind of ironic! Haha, yeah, I needed to do a Frozen recommendation and I couldn’t think of many books with a focus on sister relationships but I thought Three Dark Crowns was really fitting!
It’s true! Winnie The Pooh is such a different experience as an adult, it’s kind of depressing! Mulan is amazing which is saying something because I can’t stand the miscommunication trope!
Thank you, I did put a lot of time into it so I appreciate that you said that! ππ

I loved this list, and I LOVED how you included El Dorado π!! Your descriptions of the movies also had me cracking upβespecially the one for Pinocchio π. I really need to read The Female of the Species! Tbh, the number of Disney movies I watched this year is probably higher than the number of books on this list that Iβve read haha π .
Awesome post, Ellyn π!

Haha, I honestly thought it was a Disney movie, I’m just glad I double checked before I published my blog post!
I’m glad you enjoyed my descriptions! ππ
The Female of The SPecies is one of my favourites, I hope you’ll give it a go!
I can definitely relate, I never used to watch Disney movies until a few years ago and now some of my favourites are Disney movies! I’ve definitely been watching a bunch of them this year too!
Thanks, Belle! β€
