Hi everyone, welcome back to my blog! Today I’m bringing you all the movies that came out last year that I saw in cinemas and I think you all need to see too! Honestly, if these came out in 2019 but, I loved them all nevertheless!
in order: worst (1) to best (10)
hustlers | 10 October
I’m not gonna lie this is definitely on the bottom of my list because of all of these movies I am definitely least likely to rewatch this in the future. J Lo and Constance Wu were amazing, not worthy of an Oscar, in my opinion, but maybe J Lo was Golden Globe material. Honestly, I’ve never seen a movie like this before but, it certainly made me realise how open I am to other genres, and that I should be more open-minded to trying different types of movies in the future!
Fast & Furious: Hobbs & Shaw | 1 August
Okay, so because I’m terrible at marathoning movies, I have only seen the first 2 movies in this franchise + this one. I have no excuses but I saw the trailer and it looked like exactly my brand of dumb action movie and I knew I had to watch it. The Rock is pretty much the same as he is in every other movie and I have actually never seen a Jason Statham movie so I can’t comment on him, but overall this was a really fun movie to have on in the background while you’re doing something else, and the parts in Hawaii were really cool to watch.
captain marvel | 7 March
To be fair, it’s been quite a while since I’ve watched this but Captain Marvel is one of my favourite comic book characters so watching this was an absolute dream for me. Honestly, everything going on outside of this movie kind of ruined it for me, which is why I haven’t rewatched it since it left the cinemas and I also haven’t bought it yet. I love the character and I really liked her in Endgame so I do have high hopes for Carol Danvers in the MCU, it’s just, unfortunately, this movie as a whole has been ruined for me.
Spider-Man: Far From Home | 1 July
Out of all the MCU movies that came out this yeat this is probably the one I am most likely to rewatch the most in the future. I typically try to rewatch 2/3 and watch new movies 1/3 because I watch some a broad range of movies. So, Far From Home was a highly anticipated movie for me last year and I was super excited to watch it, especially after how Endgame ended.
Overall, I did really enjoy this movie and it really got me in my feels but this movie also proved to me how completely i don’t care about Ned and how much I adore Happy as a character. I’m honestly super hyped to see what happens with Happy and Peter late in the MCU. And honestly, I have no problem with the actor who plays Ned, but Ned himself can leave.
endgame| 24 April
I’m going to be completely honest, this wasn’t my favourite movie of the year by any stretch of the imagination and I don’t foresee myself wanting to watch it again in the near future BUT, this movie did mean a lot to me and going to see it was a literal event and the cinema was absolutely packed and being a part of seeing this movie on opening day was an absolute thrill.
Downton Abbey | 12 September
Downton Abbey! Who knew this was going to be on my list, and especially so high up! I had never seen much of the show before but I know how much my mum loves the show so I decided to take her to see the movie when I heard about it!
I didn’t know how I was going to feel about this movie, especially since I knew very little about the characters, but I ended up really enjoying the movie and I actually had a lot of fun watching this and I will definitely watch it again in the future, and I will also watch the show probably sometime this year.
frozen 2 | 28 November
I liked this movie a surprising amount. Like, I knew that it would be fun because I really like the first movie. I liked this movie so much I ended up writing two reviews and another two posts on it which is basically unheard of for me.
I loved the soundtrack and I thought there was some really good character development throughout the movie that I enjoyed, I’m honestly super excited for a third movie if they decide to go there!
john wick 3 | 16 May
John Wick is one of my favourite movie franchises in existence as of yet, and honestly, it kind of hurts me that I know literally no one irl who has seen the movies. I literally had to go by myself at like, 9pm on opening night because I wanted to see this movie so badly!
This movie was probably the best one in the trilogy so far and I absolutely loved watching it, even though there were definitely moments where I wished I hadn’t been eating while watching! Overall, I love a man who loves dogs and in general, Keanu was amazing in this movie so how could I not love it?
knives out| 28 November
This was honestly SUCH an amazing movie! I went into this movie with really no thoughts or hopes because I have really heard no people talking about this movie which now only makes me sad because it turns out, this movie is fantastic. It’s a classic whodunnit and I already can’t wait to rewatch this movie as soon as it comes out on dvd!
aladdin | 23 May
Honestly, the top 3 are kind of tied but, I did see Aladdin in cinemas 4 or 5 times so I had to put it at the top, as for Knives Out and John Wick 3 I genuinely loved them and I know I’ll watch them multiple times in the future, unlike a lot of the other movies on this list!
Aladdin is definitely my top movie of the year because I was obsessed with the soundtrack for so long and I’ve recently started listening to it again! It’s definitely my favourite Disney live-action remake that they’ve done so far, and I can’t wait to see what the cast will be in with their future movies!
Ooh, are those 3 Marvel movies and a total of 5 Disney movies in this top 10 list? ππ
Omgg, I *have* to see Knives Out!! I was waiting for it to come out in theaters ever since the trailer dropped, but then I was just swamped and never got around to it. It’s still showing though, so maybe I’ll still be able to see it in theaters.
Hmmm, I can’t even remember everything that I watched in 2019 π A few of my favorites has got to be Jojo Rabbit, Rocketman, and Spiderman: Far From Home.

Haha, I didn’t notice until I read your comment but you’re right that’s A LOT of Disney! I think that
s just because of the sheer amount of films they come out per year, but if I did a top 10 of the movies (including backlist) that I watched this year I think it would have been very different.
Knives Out was so so good and I know I will rewatch it again in the future, I’d even buy it on dvd!
Ooh, I haven’t seen Jo Jo Rabbit but I’ve heard a lot of mixed reviews! I also haven’t seen ROcketman but I’m glad you enjoyed it!
I was a big fan of Far From Home, I can’t wait to see what happens next! Are you a big Marvel fan?

Yesss, I adore Marvel! I can’t wait for everything that they have coming up, namely the Disney+ shows and The Eternals. And I know that it’s not technically Marvel since it’s under Sony and all that, but the Morbius trailer also looks pretty cool π
