Hey guys, welcome back to my blog! Today I’m coming at you to compare some UK & US book covers! I’ve done this before here and really enjoyed it, so I’m at it again!
*Uk covers on the left, US covers on the right
UK US
The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet
I feel like if we’re going for which cover represents the book the best I would say the US cover does, but as for which cover I prefer just by looking at it, I would say the UK cover is so much better! If I was going to own a copy, I would definitely prefer the UK cover, it looks amazing, and gives off the right vibes for the story, I think!
UK US
The Flatshare
I just recently finished reading The Flatshare and really enjoyed it. I think both of those covers are really good but they also both have very different art styles. I think they both show the story relatively well, but I prefer the UK cover because I think the selling point for the book is that Leon and Tiffy have to share a bed so the fact that there’s a bed on the cover really makes a lot more sense. Also, I just straight up love the colours.
UK US
The Kiss Quotient
The Kiss Quotient was one of my favourite reads of the year, and the copy that I read was the UK cover and ngl, I hated that cover and it made me not want to read the book for a while. I really prefer the US covers just because I think they give off a better idea of what the books are about, and the colours are so much better than the basic white background. Also, I just like seeing the fun art style these covers have.
UK US
Sourdough
I’m actually torn about which covers I like better for this book. They’re both pretty similar but I think the UK cover sort of gives the impression that aliens or some higher force are involved which seems pretty accurate. I love the US cover but I think honestly, I love this book so I would just buy both lol.
UK US
A Discovery of Witches
This book is a paranormal fantasy adult romance kind of thing so I knod of feel like both of these covers don’t represent the story well at all, but if I’m trying to be fair, the US cover does a better job is showing what the book is about. So, which cover do I prefer? I do like them both but I definitely prefer the UK cover, because I love how simplistic is and I love the colouring.
UK US
Three Dark Crowns
Ahh, Three Dark Crowns, a series with amazing but completely irrelevant covers. Don’t get me wrong, the covers are beautiful but they have almost nothing to do with the stories. I own a few of these books in the UK covers but I love the US covers a lot more because they are plain black with an object or two and I love it a lot. I don’t mind the UK covers but they’re personally too bright for me, which is low-key hilarious because they’re really not that bright. So, the US covers are my favourite and I am hoping to eventually buy them all whenever a boxset comes out!
UK US
Daisy Jones & The Six
The last book covers I’m comparing are Daisy Jones & The Six which I don’t really love all that much, but I think I prefer the US cover, just because it reminds me of a CD cover? It gives me Florence & The Machine vibes and I really love it. Also, again the UK cover is just too bright for me. Honestly, this might be just me, but I rarely enjoy bright colours on covers, I much prefer just 1 or 2 solid colours and maybe an image or two.
okay that second sourdough one is actually pretty cool tbh. And the Flat Share sounds so interesting? I have to read it? (ahaha I’m going to one day)

If a UK cover is colourful and pretty I tend to lean towards that cover, unless the US ones came out first then UK goes and gives it a awful cover then I go for US ones ^_^

I agree, I usually lean towards the pretty covers, and they’re usually the UK covers! I can’t stand an awful cover tbh! We eat with our eyes and we also buy books with our eyes! 😂
