DVD TOUR RECOMMENDATIONS #6 // FUTURE CLASSICS!

dvdrecommendations

Hey everyone, welcome back to my blog! Today I’m coming at you with a new addition to my DVD Shelf Tour series, and today I’m talking about the movies I have on my shelves that I think are future classics!

Okay, so I still have A LOT Of movies on my shelves that I need to watch like The Pursuit of Happyness, Avatar, Fight Club, Donnie Darko, Nightcrawler and probably a lot more so hopefully if I ever do an updated one of these, they’ll be on there too!

bookClue Poster   Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade Poster   The Dark Knight Poster

  • Clue (1985)

So, this has been out for a lot longer than the other movies on this list so I don’t know if it’s already on it’s way to becoming a classic but I love this movie and I think it’s different enough from other movies to stand out on its own. Clue definitely does use some offensive language (sexism, homohobia and probably racism) but keep in mind that it came out in 1985. Other than those things that definitely didn’t translate well to now, this movie is absolutely amazing – a great cast and a really intriguing mystery!

  • Indiana Jones (1989)

This movie. This movie actually just made me realise that I didn’t put Star Wars or Harry Potter on this list. Crap. Sorry? (I mean, they’re a given, right?)

Anywayyyy, this movie was a BIG part of my childhood, I thought Indian Jones was the COOLEST and honestly, he made being smart look awesome, so I guess that’s why I used to have good grades??? Either way, this series is famous for a reason, so do I really need to explain why this is going to be a classic?

  • The Dark Knight (2008)

I mean, come on… it’s The Dark Knight! On the Nerdy side of things, this movie has some of the best interactions between The Joker and Batman of all the Batman movies, and on the other side of the argument, this movie is simply fantastic – great acting, it looks fantastic and the story is really really good! Honestly, I think this movie will mostly become a classic due to Heath Ledger and his legacy, but I definitely think it deserves the title of ‘classic’!

bookThe Mummy Poster   The Matrix Poster   Iron Man Poster

  • The Mummy (1999)

Okay, so I am completely biased because the Mummy is my favourite movie of all time BUT, you can’t tell me that you’ve watched this movie and not thought it should be a classic! I mean, classics don’t always have to be meaningful to film history, or amazing stories – sometimes, they just have to mean something to enough people and BOOM! classic!

  • The Matrix (1999)

However, that is not the case for The Matrix, while this movie does mean a lot to me and is straight up, amazing, The Matrix also did a lot for cinema! If you know me well enough, you probably think this is just on the list because Keanu Reeves is in it but, trust me, if that were the case, John Wick would be on this list too!  This movie is amazing and Carrie-Anne Moss is in it which basically means that you have no excuse but to watch this movie.

  • Iron Man (2008)

#TeamIronMan

Yeah, I am biased because I really like MCU Iron Man, but besides my general love for the character, this movie literally started the MCU and I think that’s worth some serious recognition! I know this isn’t the best of all the marvel movies BUT I think it’s great for the Tony Stark character and in general, I love that we’re introduced to Pepper and Happy in this movie!

bookDead Poets Society Poster   Twilight Poster   Inception Poster

  • Dead Poets Society (1989)

This is one of those movies that I really feel like you have to watch at least once in your life. I really think this movie is worth watching, just because of the impact it will make on you when you watch it. Also, Robin Williams.

  • Twilight (2008)

I know. I KNOW. Honestly, this movie is not great, but we all know it’s going to be a classics so don’t bother fighting it.

  • Inception (2010)

I’m not even going to try to explain this movie to you but just know that this is one of my favourite movies of all time and it is very confusing and my entire family hates it and that makes me very sad. I’m realising that isn’t a great endorsement so if I tell you Tom Hardy is in this movie will you watch it?

  1. I’ve watched all of this except of Clue, but I agree that they are all should be future classic! The Dark Knight is universally acclaimed, it was widely recognized as one of the best superhero movies and the characters are just iconic. Inception and The Matrix because they kinda revived the sci-fi genre to the mainstream success, and Iron Man because it’s the movie that started it all. These are great picks!

    1. Clue is a favourite of mine! The Dark Knight is so critically acclaimed for a reason, everyone in that movie put in so much effort and you can tell! Yes, they definitely revived the genre and they’re both SO good!!!

Thank you! Do you have any others you would dub as classics?

      1. YES! INDIANA JONES DESERVES MORE LOVE! (I mean, harrison ford + 1930s/40s + adventure??? it’s already epic because of Harrison but ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh)

IJ was my first fandom. ( i remember seeing it before I could read, which was a looong time ago)

AND YES TEN IS MY FAVORITE TOO and YES I’M A BIG FAN. I haven’t finished (any?) the seasons except for nine’s because…………. I don’t want to see Ten die??? or Eleven??? Or Twelve??? And I just haven’t gotten around to Thirteen. (I’m going to have to buy it and I don’t have the money for that rn) but I know literally everything about the reboot so I would consider myself a fan. AND I AM READY FOR THE DR WHO POST I WILL BE WAITING HERE LIKE RORY DID FOR AMY, OKAY? GREAT.

        1. I definitely think 10 is the best, but 11 is also a really fantastic doctor too, it just might take you a bit of time to get used to him!

My posts should go up in the middle of the month and I’m super excited to talk about the topics with you tbh!

          1. Oh yeah, Eleven is SO GOOD. They’re all tied but ranked at the same time? It’s confusing. Like, it’s ten, who’s a… ten, and twelve, who’s 9 3/4 and eleven, who’s 9 2/4 and nine, who’s 9 1/4. Kind of. I can’t rank thirteen because I haven’t had the pleasure of watching any of her episodes (sad)

I’M SO EXCITED FOR YOUR DR WHO POSTS!!!! AHHhhHHhhh.
