dvdrecommendations

Hey guys, welcome back to my blog! Today I’m coming at you with a new instalment in my dvd tour recommendations series! Last year I did a Bookshelf Tour series which you guys seemed to really enjoy, and this year I wanted to also talk about movies and tv so I thought I would give you guys a tour of my DVD shelves! Because I have A LOT of DVDs! Today I’m talking about my favourite movies that I have on my shelves!

The Mummy Poster

The Mummy

This is one of my favourite movies of all time! It’s not, strictly speaking, a “good” movie, but it has a fantastic cast who works really well together and honestly? We just don’t get movies like this anymore! The Mummy is a lot of fun and has a really interesting plot, if you haven’t already, please go and watch it!

Safe Haven Poster

Safe Haven

There’s a Nicholas Sparks movie on my favourite movies list? Uh, yes, I guess there is. I want to make a distinction here – I don’t like his books because I personally don’t enjoy his writing style, but I do enjoy some of the movies based on his books. I don’t mind The Lucky One either because I love dogs and kids in movies. But, Safe Haven is my favourite and a movie I often come back to every couple of months because I really do like Josh Duhamel’s movies and honestly, it’s just a nice movie??? Also, straight up, visually it’s fantastic!

Transformers Poster

Transformers

What’s that? Another Josh Duhamel movie?? Yup! Transformers is one of those franchises that has definitely been going on too long and definitely has some bad movies but, it’s also something I’ve been watching for so many years that I’m going to see it out and definitely return to every couple of months!

I love the Transformers and the whole idea of these aliens, honestly, the first 2 movies are a lot of fun and I wish Megan Fox had stayed on for the 3rd movie, though I understand why she didn’t.

Crazy, Stupid, Love. Poster

Crazy Stupid Love

This movie, this movie! I tell you, this is one of the best movies you can watch when you’re in a shitty mood or too tired to use your brain but too awake to go to sleep.Β  The cast is fantastic and there’s a lot of witty humour and banter, what more could anyone ask for really?

Dead Poets Society Poster

Dead Poets Society

Okay, so I have to confess that I’ve only ever seen this movie once but I love it all the same. It’s hard-hitting which I think is why I’ve been avoiding watching it a second time, but all the same, this is one of my favourite movies of all time and I really think it’s a movie everyone should watch at some point in their life.

The Age of Adaline Poster

The Age of Adeline

One of my favourite movie genres is romance and I feel like I haven’t talked about nearly enough romances in this post so here I am talking about The Age of Adeline! First of all, Blake Lively is great in the role and Michiel Huisman is also fantastic in this movie! It’s a quiet, slice of life kind of movie that focuses on family and I love it a lot. Also, because I’m vain af, this movie is visually stunning which I love an now you know all my secrets.

  1. The Mummy is one of my favorites too! And it doesn’t hurt that Brendan Fraser is very swoon-worthy as the Indian-Jones-esque Rick O’Connell. I know that the film making is a little cringey and the special effects have not aged well but the characters are amazing. I really wish they made more adventure-romp films! Great recommendations ❀

  2. *GASP* Did you just say that The Mummy isn’t a good movie? πŸ˜‚ I mean if we’re talking about the one from 2017 maaaybe. Omgg, I’ve seen the Dead Poets Society like 3 times now? Mostly because I want to expose people to the masterpiece and the sadness. I first watched it when I was quite a bit younger and was like yaaay Robin Williams, imagine my surprise and horror when it ended up breaking my heart. I love this series of posts!!

    1. I KNOW!!!
I actually haven’t seen the 2017 one because I’m honestly too offended that they have the same name!
TDPS is too good and I’m gonna cry rn just thinking about it, this is why I’ve only seen it once! Haha, yes, I was expecting fun humour too!

Thank you, I’m glad you’re enjoying them! ❀ Any particular topics/genres you want to see?

  4. THE MUMMY!!! I could scream about that movie literally for the rest of my life and probably never run out of things to say. πŸ˜πŸ˜‚

Also, same on Nicholas Sparks’ movies – I prefer the movies over the books. I think he has some good plot ideas but I don’t love his writing and I wish he wasn’t such a dick about the queer community…! But I LOVED Safe Haven (the movie version ofc). Josh Duhamel was honestly so precious in it. And not to be weird, but their romantic scene with “Violins” by Amos Lee playing? One of the prettiest soundtrack/scene combos I’ve ever seen/heard in a film.

I’m not huge on the Transformers films, but my mom adores them haha. And it was funny seeing Dead Poets Society on here because I’ve never heard people talk about it much and then lately it’s popping up everywhere, to the point that I actually have the DVD of it checked out from the library right now! I’ll probably watch it this week some time.

    Amazing post! ❀

    1. The Mummy is quite possibly the best movie of all time. I don’t make the rules.

I don’t think the Sparks movies are great by any means but they’re alright on a dull night, but the books are BAD! I had no idea SParks himself was awful, I guess it’s a good thing I generally steer away from his stuff.
      YES, that movie is πŸ‘ŒπŸ‘ŒπŸ‘Œ

Noo, Transformers is a legt masterpiece and I love it (the first 2, the others are trash lol). Dead Poets is a MASTERFUL piece of ART and I adore it. Did you enjoy it?
