MY 2019 GOALS CHECK IN

goalsfeature

Hey everyone, welcome back to my blog! Today I’m coming at you with an update for all of my goals I set for myself at the start of the year! This year has been a bit of a mess and I haven’t really kept up with my goals or checked them regularly so this should be interesting, hopefully, I’ll surprise myself!

My goals categories are blogging, school, life and reading so feel free to skip ahead if one sounds more interesting than the other!

1 Use a proper schedule β†’ Monday, Wednesday, Friday

My goal was to make a schedule and keep to it – my goal was 3 posts a week on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. I kept at it for the first couple of months of the ear but it ended up being too stressful because of school and I’ve just updated my scheduled posts through the rest of the year to just Monday and Wednesday with spare posts/reviews going up on other days.

2 Don’t limit my content to just books

My goal was to talk more about movies throughout the year and to not just limit myself to talking about books. I’ve done this somewhat with a few movie reviews and in general, talking about Disney movies, but I would like to really start talking about movies more because they’re a big part of my life outside of blogging!

3 Reach 600 followers

When I wrote the original goals post I had 503 followers and my goal was to have 600 by the end of December this year. Well, I can officially say that I have 617 when I’m writing this, so I think I can upgrade this goal to trying to get 700 by the end of the year! It’s a big number, but I think I can do it!

4 Be more prepared

My main goal for the year was to stay on top of my blog posts and have them reading to go up a few days in advance of when they’re scheduled if that makes sense?

I also wanted to be more prepared for 2020 and have some blog posts ready to go up before the new year starts! I haven’t fully started this but I have planned some series out and outlined quite a few posts in advance so when it comes to writing them out later in the year I should be able to complete this goal pretty easily!

readinggoals

I had aΒ top 13 2019 anticipated releasesΒ & another post about my 2019 tbr shelf, but I knew I wouldn’t get to all of those books and at this point, I’m not all that concerned with reading them all. At this point, I’m more concerned with keeping my blog running, getting more shifts at work and passing my classes. That being said, I have read a few of the books on these lists and I’m quite proud of that.

1 Prioritise school over reading & blogging. Reading is a hobby, not a priority.

I think I’ve done this. I have lowered the pressure on myself and have changed my blogging schedule so hopefully, this will help with school stress as well.

2 Try to read on the bus to and from school. Don’t stress if you forget, or don’t read any other time.

I have definitely done this! I would say that at least 80-90% of the reading I have done throughout the year has been done while I was on the bus to and from school. Also, in a shocking turn of events, listening to audiobooks while I’ve been baking has become prime reading time for me!

3 Don’t forget, audiobooks are your friend.

Yes! Most of the reading I’ve done this year has been audio and I’m not mad about it at all!

4 My Goodreads Reading Challenge goal – 100 books!

As of writing this update, I’ve read 66 books, so I’m pretty sure I’ll manage 100, especially since, according to Goodreads I’m 16 books ahead of schedule!

schoolgoals

1 Don’t stretch yourself too thin.

Haha ha… ha. Honestly, as long as I can make it through Uni I’ll be fine. I only have this term left and then I won’t have to go back until next year. I’m just focusing on passing and not going insane. Does anybody else here also really hate school?

2 Try your hardest.

Lol, I didn’t know how hard this would be when I wrote these goals.

3 Try to turn up for every lecture/tutorial. Don’t beat yourself up if you miss a day.

Great advice.

lifegoals

1 Have one.

2 Know and recognise when to take a break.

3 See movies. Don’t sacrifice something you love.

I have done pretty much all of this – I got myself a friend (wow, go me) and I go to the movies pretty regularly! Life is going pretty on schedule for me outside of school, which is nice.

  1. I’m so happy that you’ve managed to be on track with so many of your goals! I’m so inspired by your reading goals, because I sometimes try so hard to read as much as possible while forgetting that as much as I love reading and blogging and posting on Instagram, it’s just a hobby and I shouldn’t stress myself out over that.

And ugh yes school is the absolute *worst* I’m currently taking a summer semester so it’s a bit more chill right now, but I’m bracing myself from the hell that’s going to be fall. πŸ˜ͺ

Hope the second half of your year is even more amazing than the first!! πŸ’žπŸ’ž

    1. Thank you! I’m honestly surprised by how on top of my goals I’ve stayed this year! Yes, I can get too carried away, sometimes I almost double the stress in my life just with book-stress, alone.

School is SUCH an anxiety-inducer for me and I cannot wait for it to be over, 2021 needs to come sooner!

Thank you, I’m hoping the rest of the year will be a lot more chilled out. Honestly, as long as I can pass my classes and read some more series throughout the year, I should be good! πŸ’•πŸ’•

  2. This is such a lovely blog post! I’m glad you are doing so well with your goals (and with that many too!) I haven’t kept up with some of my goals / resolutions like doing photography each week or keeping a bullet and a photography journal but that’s usually due to time constraints and weather… however I did say I would do more writing and reviews and now I’m keeping up with my blog weekly which I’m proud of myself for doing! πŸ’–

    1. Thank you! 😍

Haha, yes I had A LOT of goals this year and I wanted to try and cover all the bases! I wanted to write more reviews this year too, I’m working on that now! I’m trying to encourage myself to review the books I write a bunch of notes on as I’m reading them! πŸ’•
