Hey guys, welcome back to my blog! Today I’m coming at you with a fun new blog post in my Get To Know Me series! My first post was about my Weird Reading Habits and today I’m talking about my Blogging Habits!
1 ALWAYS CHECKING MY BLOG!
One of the first things I do when I wake up if check my blog. So, I don’t know if this is more of a weird obsession or just plain unhealthy, but it’s part of my routine now and it never fails to get me in high spirits when I see a bunch of new comments from you guys!
2 SCHEDULING TOO FAR AHEAD
I legitimately have a scheduling problem. I so often hear bloggers who have issues with never scheduling posts but I have the opposite issue – I legit scheduleΒ posts 2 yrs ahead! I currently have posts scheduled for 2020 and I bet in a few months time I’ll have some ideas for 2021!
3 I NEED DISTRACTIONS
I have to be doing something else when I’m writing a blog post. I’m Literally watching Jumanji 2 in the background as I write this one, though usually, I’m just listening to an audiobook while I write. I can’t write without something on in the background so either I’m writing in the living room with the general family chaos in the background or I’ll have a movie or book on in the background!
4 I HAVE NO SET “WRITING TIME”
I either won’t write any blog posts for at least a week or I’ll write myself into a vegetive-stressed state that lasts for like, 3 days straight. There is no in-between.
5 I CAN’T WRITE IN THE MORNING!
Also, speaking of weird writing habits – I never write in the morning. It’s either periodically throughout the day or it’s late at night – I just can’t write in the morning, you know?
6 MY BLOG SCHEDULE
This builds on my second point, but I schedule all of my posts in advance in order to make sure that they’ll go up, so finished or not you’re getting a blog post every Mon, Wed, Fri.
7 I’M A TAD OBSESSIVE!
I am obsessive about my blogging schedule. I literally cannot stand missing a day, it stresses me out for my monthly overview to not look like this every month and maybe I need to loosen up about that but anxiety has its grip on me and I kind of can’t help it.
8 I’M TERRIBLE AT SOCIAL MEDIA
You’d think that as a blogger I’d be super comfortable with social media but no, I rarely use Instagram and I don’t usually post about books when I use it. I’m slack on Twitter and I only really use Goodreads for reading updates. I feel so bad about this but at the same time, social media is exhausting and I know I’m terrible at it anyway!
9 TERRIBLE WITH IDEAS
I have folders and folders of brainstorm sessions/ideas across most of my devices but, I never look at them. I have literally 70-100 ideas waiting for me to take advantage but I never do because unless I think of them and add them to my schedule asap they never get used! One day I’m just going to have to get super tech savy and plan a whole year’s worth of ideas because that’s probably how many I have saved up all across my devices/notebooks!
10 BLOGGING AT THE WORST OF TIMES!
Speaking of my idea problems, I get a lot of my ideas during class and therefore most of my notebooks are full of long discussions and intros and new ideas instead of actual class notes. I mean, last year I wrote most of my Crimes of Grindelwald review just in class, and then left my lecture with very few actual notes on whatever we’d just “learnt”.
I never use my social media to promo my blog! I probably should but I rarely use social media to promote my own articles. I guess I see social media as more fun? Lol

I’m honestly so bad at it! I definitely prefer using social media more for fun because otherwise, it gets too stressful for me!

I…may also have plotted some blog posts while sitting in a less-than-engaging class period.

Haha, I think it comes with the territory! I used to do it through my classes in high school and now I have classes in Uni where I will do it too. Like, I’m never going to be a historian so I’ll plot out blog posts in my history class instead… (curse Uni, for making first years take compulsory classes).
It’s a bad mentality for me to have but I’m doing okay so far!

OMG, you’re the queen of scheduling ππ. Well, I like that you’re organized, that’s good! and I’m also terrible with social networks π€·π»ββοΈ

Haha, I’m really not! I only really have titles + ideas planned out, maybe only 5 of my posts are actually written ahead of schedule and that’s just because I’m trying to get a head start on my blog posts before I start Uni again for the year!
Social media is a crazy place and so so confusing, I don’t know how so many people do it!

I have started scheduling ahead. I’m currently writing posts for March/April and I thought that was early!!

Haha, that is absolutely amazing! I only schedule my ideas into the days I want them to go up so the posts haven’t actually been finished and are mostly just the ideas I’ve brainstormed but not a complete post finished! So, yeah I have a lot scheduled but barely any of the posts have actually been written and they’re definitely not ready for me to publish!
You’re so far ahead though and that’s amazing!

Wow, you really are the BEST at scheduling, I admire that SO much! I always love to schedule my blog posts, but it takes me such a long time to do one that I never manage to schedule more than the week ahead hahaha. Wonderful post! π

Haha, I do schedule a lot of things but they’re definitely just ideas at this point and definitely, none of them have been fully written/finished and I’ll probably write them a few weeks before they’re scheduled to go up!
I can totally relate to that. it can take me whole days to fully write a blog post so I try my hardest to multi-task as much as I can. So, if I’m watching a movie with my brothers or listening to an audiobook I’ll try and work on a blog post. I also try to work on blog posts if I know I have time between classes at Uni. Also, if I need a bit of time to catch up on posts I’ll take a blogging time out and won’t post anything for a week or I’ll just take a weekend for bogging time and concentrate on that more than any of my other hobbies aka. cooking & movies!

ELLYN. HOLY FUCKING SHIT:

Haha, I have a scheduling/calendar obsession lol!
They’re only ideas though, I usually only have a few posts properly finished a week ahead, so the posts for 2020 are only scheduled ideas that I’ll write closer to the fact! Honestly, I just schedule my posts whenever I have an idea. Like, if I think of an awesome idea for a particular month or event like Pride Month I’ll schedule it for the next year so I have enough time to prepare.

That’s SUCH a good idea, though!! I need to start doing this.

It’s so helpful, especially if you’re not near a computer or wifi and just want to check what you have scheduled!

This is a great post!!!
I have one question tho, how do i never do you have posts scheduled so far ahead? Haha are they reviews?
I also have the same blogging schedule and schedule my posts ahead of time and having to miss a day gives me anxiety which is why i write my posts well before they’re supposed to go up. Most time i listen to music while blogging, it helps with my writing flow and i get less distracted as well. And i can’t write in the morning either, it’s usually let evening or at night!!

Thank you!
Haha, I only usually have posts written a week or two in advance, but I do have all my posts scheduled in advance to motivate myself to write them and so I don’t have to worry about publishing them if I’m not near my computer.
Missing a day gives me so much anxiety and I have no idea how to get out of that mindset tbh! Music is the only thing I can’t listen to while I’m blogging, I have no idea why though!

I need to learn to be more organized like you π Seriously, I’m so bad at organizing and with schedules. I’m currently trying to fix this through my blog.
