MY FAVOURITE COMICS AND GRAPHIC NOVELS I READ IN 2018 // Bookmas Day 8!

In an actual shocking turn of events, I didn’t really read many comics or graphic novels this year. I read a few at the beginning of the year around Comic Book Day and when I was participating in more readathons. So, for day 8 of Blogmas I’m talking about the top 4 I read this year, and hopefully, I’ll convince you to pick up some great comics or graphic novels in the new year!

I HATE FAIRYLAND VOL 1-4

I have been talking about this series for years but that’s not going to stop me from talking about it again now! Volume 4 came out this year and is actually the last volume in the series and I’m so sad about it. This is my favourite comic series and I re-read the comics all the time because the characters are really fun and I love the art style.

The series is pretty violent because the mc has been through some (funny) sh*t but the art style is super colourful is what makes the series so much fun to read! If you read any of the comics from this list I hope you try this one!

MOONGIRL AND DEVIL DINOSAUR VOLS 1 & 2

I also talked about this series earlier in the year around Comic Book Day but, I really do love these comics. First off, if you know anything about me you know I love Dinosaurs and you know I really enjoy superheroes so basically, this comic is perfect for me.

I really love the main character, Lunella and of course, I really love the Dinosaur. I never knew that I needed this, but it makes so much sense – of course, a genius female superhero and her dinosaur t-rex is the perfect story to get me in a happier mood whenever I fee low.

GOTHAM ACADEMY SERIES 1

I really enjoyed this trilogy, it’s completely different to anything else I’ve read before, it’s set in a school and it’s set in the DC universe which is definitely a change for me.  This series has a bit of a mystery going on and also includes characters I’m less familiar with like Damian Wayne. The series is really fun, has different types of characters working as a sort of Scooby-Doo type gang solving mysteries which is really fun and makes the comic a lot of fun to read.

I definitely recommend this trilogy if you love Scooby-Doo mysteries and you enjoy DC comics or movie but want a bit less of a dark storyline.

WIRES & NERVE VOL 1 & 2

Okay, so I’m super conflicted about this one. On one hand, I love it and it was so much fun, but on the other hand, the plot is kinda simple& dull and you can’t understand any of this series without first reading The Lunar Chronicles.

I really enjoyed getting back in with all our favourite characters from the original series and seeing where they are now in terms of story, but honestly, much like Stars Above, I don’t think this series is necessary at all, it’s more of a fun story to read if you’re a mega fan of the characters.
