Hey guys! Today I’m coming at you with something a bit different because I realised a bit ago that you guys probably maybe don’t actually know all that much about me, so I thought this would be a fun way to sort of introduce myself to you guys!

1 My favourite authors, as of right now, are Christina Henry (Alice, Lost Boy), Kerri Maniscalco (Stalking Jack The Ripper), Stephanie Garber (Caraval) & Skottie Young (I Hate Fairyland, Rocket Raccoon).
2 I love dinosaurs (hence my love for the Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur comic series) and I have a great and very intense love for the Jurassic franchise and yet, I still haven’t read the original Jurassic Park novel by Michael Crighton.
3 I’m obsessed with Bookstagram but I don’t think I’ll ever get into it myself.

4 The most recent book I read (as of writing this blog post) was Sourdough by Robin Sloan and I loved it. Sourdough is without a doubt, the most calming and inspiring (baking-wise) book I’ve ever read.
5 And on that note, something I’ve discovered lately, as I’ve been picking up more books and vaguely leaving my comfort zone. Is that I’ve been enjoying more and more books that I never thought I would pick up. See: Sourdough, Three Dark crowns, Bad Romance, Warcross. I’ve randomly been trying out books I never thought I’d care about and I’ve been loving them! It’s a whole new ball game out there for me now!
6 I love and support audiobooks.
7 I’m much better at talking to people on my blog then I am irl. Via my blog, I have been in contact with other bloggers, authors and publishers but irl I struggle with ordering a coffee.
8 I love to annotate my books. I don’t do it often but I do tab them, write in them, highlight in them and even *gasps* dog-ear the pages! It doesn’t bother me and I will often do this with my favourite books.
9 I don’t like shiny books (or, shiny things in general) and I will go out of my way to get the non-shiny option of a book cover and if there isn’t one I just won’t buy the book. Maybe it’s pathetic but shiny things set me off and I can’t stand them.
10 I do own multiple copies of some books. Some books I have multiples of are Harry Potter, A Wrinkle In Time and The Giver. I only have multiples because I like to have annotated copies and non-annotated copies and also I LOVE THEM.
11 I don’t think I’m any good at writing reviews.
12 I have a whole jar full of bookmarks and I generally only use the same 3. 😂
13 I like the idea of ARCs and I think it would be really awesome to own copies of them for my favourite books like Caraval or Stalking Jack The Ripper but, honestly, ARCs stress me out and I usually forget to read them until after the book is already out.
14 Book hype is very scary and very stressful so I generally try to stay away. This is also one of the reasons I am not on the bandwagon for so many popular YA authors (Sarah J Mass, Jenny Han, Leigh Bardugo, Tomi Adeyemi etc.).
15 When I’m really enjoying a book I tend to read it out loud in the voices of the characters without actually realising I’m doing it and IT’S WEIRD.
16 I never guess book twists. I never guess who the murderer is and I am very gullible and I just want to believe people are good and that we can all get along!
17 I read best with the combination of a deadline and a moving car. So I often read my books close to when they’re due back at the library and I much prefer to read in the car or on the bus.
18 I don’t have a problem with DNFing books. You do you, if you don’t like a book then put it down and try something else! The latest book I DNF’d was Gunslinger Girl by Lyndsay Ely. I was roughly 75-80% of the way through but I gave up because I couldn’t stand the MC or the romance.
19 I prefer to buy DVDs over books. I know that sounds crazy since I have a literal book blog. But, honestly, I just prefer to own my movies because I watch them so often. Whereas, I have no qualms about just borrowing a book from the library because I don’t re-read every book I own.
Also, I straight up don’t know who I would be without the ability to re-watch the Jurassic movies and Iron Man trilogy whenever I felt like it. I assume it would be a very boring and sad life.
20 I think books need to include more characters with disabilities and publishers really need to pick up the slack with that. It’s wonderful that people are seeing more of themselves in characters in terms of sexuality or ethnicity etc but disability seems to be getting left out and I’m SMAD.
21 I love book adaptations but I don’t really watch them all that often. I will always re-watch my favourites but I don’t often go out to see them at the cinema and I don’t necessarily seek them out either.
22 I really enjoy darker books like Bad Romance or Three Dark Crowns. They make me incredibly happy but also incredibly stressed, it’s quite the combination.
23 2018 has been the year of stepping out of my comfort zone and talking to publishers. It’s been nervewracking but a really great experience so far!

24 I someday (I have no idea when lol) plan on getting a Camelot tattoo inspired by the outline of Hogwarts tattoo. I love the idea of getting the outline of Hogwarts as a tattoo but I feel a bit more of a connection to Camelot so I’d like to get the outline of that castle (probably one of the ones they used in Merlin) somewhere on my inner forearm just below my elbow joint.
25 My bookshelves are currently a mess. I always mean to go and rearrange them or at least tidy them up a little bit but then I get stressed out just thinking about it so I think it’s going to have to wait for a rainy day when I have no outstanding obligations and can just take the day off to concentrate on them. We’ll see if that ever happens, fingers crossed it does some time this year 🤞🤞🤞.

This is so cool and I’m the same way with book-to-movie adaptations because I never go to the movies unless it’s a movie I really want to see 😂

I love lists as blog posts! I have read almost everything by Michael Crichton besides Jurassic Park. I also don’t reread most books so I borrow a lot as well. I have noticed an increase in mental illness representation, but not physical disability representation. As for ARCs, I think maybe ebooks might be the way to go for you on those because they aren’t as strict about deadlines.

I have felt so out of touch with my own books this year and just haven’t felt like buying or really re-reading unless it was via audio, so I have been mostly just using the library!
I’ve seen that too and I definitely think we still need mental illness rep and even more variety within that, but I just feel like we never really see disability rep. Like, I don’t think I’ve ever read a book with a character, main r background, in a wheelchair. And that just seems crazy to me.
I do use Netgalley every now and again, and I agree with you they are much more chill with ebooks!

I think that the book community is slowly becoming more diverse and representative, but only because people are demanding it. So I think it’s important that you point out what is missing.

Love this post! I also love writing/highlighting in my books. I can’t dog ear the pages though, but I use lots of sticky tabs to mark my fave spots/quotes. I’m so glad to hear that you enjoyed reading Sourdough, I really want to read that at some point.

It’s interesting that you don’t tend to read hyped books, I understand why but I find it hard not to when they’re so talked about. I also read better in moving vehicles which makes my almost daily train ride to school a great opportunity to read.

No problem, I love learning about other bloggers! Haha, I try to read at least one new release per month but I find that I tend to avoid the really hyped books like Six of Crows or The Hazel Wood because I find it too overwhelming. I probably only read physically when I’m in the car on the bus to school, otherwise, I just listen on audio because my eyes can’t take the strain of reading late at night, and I just can’t sit still when I read for some reason!

I've been changing up my theme lately (I think you know this, I feel like you commented on one of the new pictures!) and it has completely rejuvenated my love of bookstagram. I was so burnt out until last week and now I just want to post ALL THE THINGS.
Okay, for #9 – I actually relate to this a little bit. I won't intentionally not buy a shiny book, unless there's a non-shiny version available, but I get annoyed with super shiny covers, mainly because of bookstagram. Shiny covers just never photograph very well!

#20 YES. Sigh. Disability and fat rep are the 2 things that I feel like I am constantly begging for and never receiving, and it makes me sad. Don't get me wrong, I think POC rep and queer rep is SO IMPORTANT, too! But a massive portion of the world population is disabled (I want to say it's something like 20-30%?) in one way or another, and yet we almost never see that in books! WTF?
#22 – same, it's super cathartic for me tbh.

I get totally set off by shiny covers – they make me incredibly anxious and uncomfortable to the point where I don’t like to even talk about shiny objects at all. It’s nuts, but I live with it.

I completely agree! We’re seeing some more fat rep being incorporated into books now and that’s amazing but so often I feel like it’s bad and just makes the fat character seem like a raging b*tch. Like, some of us are so nice and actually feel really hurt by the only rep we’re getting. Also, this is such a nitpick but I don’t want to just get fat rep in contemporary, mainly just because I don’t really read them so, some fantasy would be great. Speaking of, have you read Beneath The Sugar SKy by Seanan McGuire?
Disability is so so underrepresented in media in general and I really wish that would change but for that to happen authors will have to change who they write and publishers will have to pull their heads in so I really doubt it will happen any time soon, unfortunately. Have you read Into The Drowning Deep by Mira Grant because there is some fantastic deaf rep and I love it very much!
Dark books are honestly so much fun and I”m so glad we’re getting more of them in YA!

You are so right about the fat rep, some of it is just so gross that I'd rather not have it at all. 😦 And I also agree that I'd love to see more of it in fantasy! I did read Beneath the Sugar Sky and LOVED it. Another one I read very recently was The Sisters of the Winter Wood – I have a review going up for it Monday, but it has a fat MC and while she struggles from self-image issues at first, she actually grows to love her body and she realizes that her love interest and her family all think she is beautiful and they don't see her weight as a detracting thing from her looks – it's so nice!
I haven't read Into the Drowning Deep yet but I want to soooo badly! I have that on my fall TBR jar list, I think!

I loved this post – it’s so much fun to read these tags and get to know the author better! That way we can all bond over our favorite bookish things/habits/opinions. Also, I can relate about the bookmarks! I’ve collected heaps and heaps over the years but there’s always those rare few I only reach for. I’m glad I’m not the only one hahaha 😉

For starters I found you thanks to Destiny @ Howling Libaries, one of her more recent posts.
This is a great post, thank you for sharing so much of yourself. I’m a bit fan of the first Jurassic Park movie, that was the best. But I haven’t loved all that they’ve done since then. But I still get the love for it. And I’m so incredibly glad we did not have to live with Dinosaurs because we would NOT have made it through that.
I love shiny stuff, love it. But that’s not my favorite book feature, I like the velvety soft covers! Ugh, wonderful.
I’ve seen the movie for The Giver and certainly enjoyed it. We also differ in that I can’t help but guess what’s going to happen next, sometimes I really wish I could turn it off. I have to watch it when I’m watching shows or movies with anyone else and make sure I don’t blurt my predictions out. Annotating is slowly becoming my new friend. (Sorry if it drives you nuts that I just switched to a bulk paragraph instead of a new line for each response. Seemed like it would get too long should I do it that way.). Post its want to be closer to me now, so they’ll actually get used. I do that weird thing where I act like I can’t use them until the absolutely right time because then they’ll be gone. Ugh get more! Lol.
I haven’t read any of your reviews but I’m going to guess you’re probably not as bad as you think you are. And since I haven’t read them I don’t know if you’re read the book I’m about to suggest but the protagonist is a double amputee with Borderline Personality Disorder. It’s Arcadia Series by Mishell Baker, the first book being Borderline. I really enjoyed these fantasy books in story and characters.

I’m a big fan of the Jurassic franchise as a whole but I definitely think none of the other movies are anywhere as good as the first movie.
