BOOKSHELF TOUR RECOMMENDATIONS #3 // My Favourite 2018 reads!

Hey guys! Today, I’m coming at you with a new shelf in my Bookshelf Tour series! Today I’m going through my 2018 Book Haul shelf (yes, I’ve kept them all on the same shelf) but because I’ve been so privileged this year I have acquired so many books (thank god for second-hand stores) so I might have to make include some more books from this shelf in a future instalment!

STALKING JACK THE RIPPER & HUNTING PRINCE DRACULA

I know I know, I’m talking about these books again but honestly I kind of don’t care?? I’m currently re-reading them again (for the 100th time this year) in preparation for book 3 and I’m loving it. I know that Stalking Jack The Ripper isn’t the best or most original thing in the world but I love it with my whole heart and almost nothing else makes me happier. Also, book 2 is 1000x better and if you weren’t fussed on book 1 you should at least give book 2 a chance because the author really steps up her game with that one!

LOST BOY & THE MERMAID

Okay, so technically I’m a dirty cheater because I’ve only read Lost Boy (but I’ve also read Alice by the same author and I thought it was amazing tbh) but I plan to read The Mermaid by the end of the year I SWEAR! Lost Boy is one of my favourite books ever and I honestly wish everyone would read it because it’s amazing and it will force you to appreciate and love Neverland.

A DISCOVERY OF WITCHES

A Discovery of Witches (All Souls, #1)

Do you love Twilight? Do you wish you could have a really cool (slightly slow burn romance), more adult version? Well, now you can (God, I feel like I’m selling a product here) because I kind of feel like A Discovery of Witches gives off the perfect Twilight vibes, only that Diana is much more capable and I like her much much more than I ever liked Bella. Also, they’re making a show which is coming to tv really really soon (sometime this year) and it looks AMAZING and I want it now!

BATMAN: NIGHTWALKER

Batman: Nightwalker (DC Icons, #2)

I know this book wasn’t for everyone but I personally loved it, so much I had to buy my own copy! I really love Batman as a character because I find him so interesting and I really loved this one because we got to see him as a kid but still with his detective style routes (I haven’t watched Gotham so I don’t know what their interpretation of him was)/. I feel like the latest movies have sort of glossed over the fact that Bruce Wayne is actually pretty smart and not just a bag of money (I mean… he is…). I mean, he’s basically a detective, just in spandex, a cape and some bat ears. Totally normal.

Either way, I love detective Batman and I’m so glad he’s making a come back. Also, this is the book that finally got me into reading Marie Lu so kudos for that! Also also, it was my first buddy read and how I became such good friends with my bff Rebecca!

SJTR is a great book, I’m currently re-listening to book 2 as I answer comments right now (and I’m loving it!)

  1. I’ve been thinking about reading something by Christina Henry for a while now so I’m really pleased you enjoyed them, I might have to check them out sooner rather than later now! πŸ™‚

    1. She’s one of my favourite authors, definitely an auto-buy for me! Lost Boy is definitely one of my favourites (of all time) but, Alice is also phenomenal if you can handle the trigger warnings!
