I was recently tagged to do this by the ever amazing Jamieson from Jamishelves so I figured why not! I figured this was a pretty great way to talk about the books I’ve been loving so far this year and I really enjoyed writing my answers out! I hope you guys enjoy this as much as I did!

1 BEST BOOK YOU’VE READ SO FAR THIS YEAR
Hunting Prince Dracula, The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo & The Female of The Species have been my top 3 favourite reads of the year so far! I think my absolute favourite, if I was to narrow it down to a top 1, would have to be Hunting Prince Dracula.
2 BEST SEQUEL YOU’VE READ SO FAR IN 2018
The Hammer of Thor, Lair of Dreams & Legendary are my top 3 because I guess I’m doing top 3s so far??? I think my favourite would have to be The Hammer of Thor purely because we are introduced to Alex Fierro in this one and I LOVE ALEX FIERRO. Legendary was a close second though!
3Β NEW RELEASE YOU HAVENβT READ YET, BUT WANT TO
So, I want to read all of these and I believe I have The Mermaid & My Plain Jane coming in the mail so I’m clearly hyped for them! I also really want to read Girl Made of Stars but my library doesn’t have it yet, unfortunately. I think I’m most excited for The Mermaid by Christina Henry but it’s a close competition!
4Β MOST ANTICIPATED RELEASE FOR THE SECOND HALF OF THE YEAR
My most anticipated release of the entire year is definitely, hands down, Escaping From Houdini. But, I am also really excited for Bianca & Roja + Wildcard!
5 BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT
The Song of Achilles, hands down. It’s hardly even a question. The other two (above) were disappointing, but I was really expecting to love TSOA so the fact that I didn’t really threw me off!
6 BIGGEST SURPRISE
The Bourne Identity – I pretty much never pick up spy novels but I saw the movie and decided to give the book a shot and ended up really enjoying it. I also really loved the writing.
I also really loved Warcross & Faithful, they were great surprises because if I hadn’t been pushed by others I probably never would have picked them up!
7 FAVOURITE NEW AUTHOR (DEBUT OR NEW TO YOU)
Do you notice a theme in this post? So much Marie Lu! I’ll be honest I never even thought I would pick up one of her books because they never interested me, but low and behold I love her and I need Wildcard asap!
8 NEWEST FICTIONAL CRUSH
Yeah, I hate this question. If you know me then you know I don’t do book-Significant Others. So, I’m going to slightly alter this question to make it my newest fiction friend.
Book crushes freak me out (you do you though) so these are the top 3 characters I wouldn’t mind being friends with – Fel from Wild Beauty (I love me a man who respects women), Scarlett from Legendary (I love me a woman who pushes me out of my comfort zone) and Alex Fierro from the Magnus Chase trilogy (I love Alex Fierro).
9Β NEWEST FAVOURITE CHARACTER
Oh God, I have no idea. I love all of these characters with my whole heart so can I go with all of them??? Lunella Lafayette, Evelyn Hugo, Theta Knight.
No? I can’t? That’s breaking the rules? Fine. Theta Knight wins the prize.
10Β BOOK THAT MADE YOU CRY
I don’t think any books have made me cry so far this year but I came pretty close withΒ Tyler Johnson Was Here.
11Β BOOK THAT MADE YOU HAPPY
Definitely all of these. Caraval made me happiest, I Hate Fairyland made me laugh and Wild Beauty made me a sad happy because I finally realised how hard it is to find a respectful and kind male love interest (aka. Fel is goals).
12Β FAVOURITE BOOK TO FILM ADAPTATION YOU SAW THIS YEAR
Honestly, I don’t think I’ve seen too many actual book-to-movie adaptations this year aside from Love, Simon & A Wrinkle In Time and they didn’t rock my world so I’m going to cheat a little bit and go with Solo.
13Β FAVOURITE BLOG POST YOUβVE WRITTEN THIS YEAR
Honestly, I love most of my blog posts?? But, this year I think my blog posts have been so much better quality than last year.
I think my favourite would have to be my Hogwarts House Recommendations because it combines my love of HP and recommending books and I flatter myself by thinking you guys enjoyed it too.
14Β MOST BEAUTIFUL BOOK YOUβVE BOUGHT SO FAR THIS YEAR (OR RECEIVED)
Okay, so technically I’ve only bought one of these myself because I got an e-arc of The Perfect Mother and The Mermaid is being sent to me by Titan. But, I think I’m still going to go with The Mermaid because I’m a dirty cheater???
15Β WHAT BOOKS DO YOU NEED TO READ BY THE END OF THE YEAR?
Without a doubt, I need to read these books. I fell in love withΒ Anna-Marie McLemore & Marie Lu this year so obviously, their next books are on my list, but I think A Blade So Black would have to be my need read because I love Alice retellings!
Awesome post π

I need to carry on reading the Stalking Jack the Ripper series. I read the first one last year and liked it but I think the series can only get better, and from what I’ve heard, I know I will probably love it. I also want to try some of Christina Henry’s books. They’ve been on my radar for ages but for some reason I’ve never picked them up, which is rather annoying. I think Christina Henry will also be at YALC next month so that should give me the motivation to read one of them.

Yes, you should! I love the series but, book 2 is a total step up from book 2! It almost has a completely different vibe from book 1? HPD is set in a completely different location and the general vibe and mystery is completely different, it’s definitely my favourite in the series so far!
Christina Henry writes amazing books! Her latest release is The Mermaid, but I love Lost Boy and Alice too! (Lost Boy is now one of my favourite books of all time) I hope you decide to pick up one of her books!

Thank God someone else was disappointed by To Kill a Kingdom. UGH. (But I was excited for A Song of Achilles and now I’m scared!) (btw I might steal this tag from you!)

Haha, yes! So many people have loved the book and it just thought it was meh.
I am definitely in the minority with TSOA so don’t worry about it! (you should definitely do the tag!)
