Hey guys, this is the time of year when a whole bunch of people take the plunge and start blogging, so I figured why not write some blogging tips! Also, this is helping me to calm my self down lately!
1. DON’T GO CRAZY
you don’t need to post every day and you don’t need to be perfect.
2. TAKE YOUR TIME
Don’t try to churnΒ out postsΒ constantly, you’ll only stress yourself out.
3. BE A BAMF
It’s your blog, own it
4. DON’T STRESS YOURSELF OUT
Take a chill pill, sit your ass down, think about what you really want to talk about and talk about it. And then go have a sleep, you’ve earned it.
5. BE YOURSELF
Talk about what you want to talk about – enjoy yourself.
6. DON’T STRESS ABOUT STATS OR FOLLOWERS
They really don’t matter – there will be followers who read every second post and there will be spammers and people who never read another one of your posts again.
This sounds fake, but at the end of the day stats don’t matter.
7. TALK TO PEOPLE
Tak to people It’s fun and it’s an easy way to make friends! Also, you’ll get some great book recs this way!
8. LEARN TO LOVE & APPRECIATE BLOG HOPPING
It’s an easy way to becoming a part of the blogging community and it really helps you understand the ins and outs of blogging. Also, it’s an easy way to find new people to follow.
9. BE CONSISTENT
Consistency will save a life. Honestly, having a schedule is something I’ve never been good at but am working on, and I’m already wayy less stressed than I was last year.
10. TELL THE TRUTH
Be honest with yourself and with your followers. If you don’t think you can get a post up then don’t try to push it, take the day off and get some sleep.
But also, don’t create a dishonest persona on the internet. Be yourself and no one else.
11. WE DON’T NEED YOUR LIFE STORY UNLESS YOU WANT TO TELL IT
Don’t feel obligated. ever.
12. DON’T STRESS ABOUT SOCIAL MEDIA
You don’t need all the media, if you don’t want to maintain a booktube than you don’t have to. If you don’t want your media to be book central, then you don’t have to.
13. MAKE FRIENDS
Friends are great. You can buddy read with them and ask them questions and honestly, they will just make you happy whenever they pop up in your notifications.
14. WRITE YOUR IDEAS DOWN
Trust me, you’re going to think of something great and you’ll think you’re going to remember it but you won’t and then you’ll east your feelings and rewatch The Good Place again.
15. TAKE A BREAK IF YOU NEED TO
Taking a hiatus has been known to save a life so don’t be afraid to take a break and come back whenever you’re ready.

I LOVE THIS! It’s super short and straight to the point, I especially can relate to not stressing out about followers and traffic. In the end, it’s all for fun. The sooner you can accept it, the more fun blogging will be for you.

Thank you! β€οΈβ€οΈExactly, if you’re stressing about blogging then it stops being fun. Stats can be a good motivator but as soon as you start thinking too hard about it or obsessing about it then what is the point?

Great tips!!! Haha, yes, WRITE your ideas down! It will be maddening when you realize you can’t remember an idea! It’s just so frustrating, haha!
And stats are great, but don’t stress about them! Keep blog hopping & making friends. Because falling in love with other blogs & making great friends is the BEST part of blogging!

Love these Ellyn! I so agree that stats donβt matter! And donβt try to be perfect… itβs exhausting and actually a problem I have. Itβs been very freeing to post and know itβs not 100% but the best I could do to get it up when I wanted. It teaches you compromise in a health you way. β₯οΈ

I love that your tips are more geared towards mentality and well-being. This is very important for new bloggers (and even long-time bloggers). I’ve been blogging for years and I can’t tell you how many awesome blogs I’ve seen fall apart because the pressure was too much. It’s important to remember that this is your creation, you set the rules, and you need to do what works best for YOU.

Yes, I think the most important thing about blogging is maintaining your mental health. I know how you feel, I’ve only been doing this for a year or so but I have seen so many bloggers take hiatus’ because they weren’t happy or blogging was messing with them mentally and it’s so sad to see.
Exactly, that’s the best mentality. Blog for yourself and only yourself.
