April Wrap Up | 2017

April 2017

I really didn’t read too much this month which surprised me because for the first half of the month I was on holidays. However, I did have 3 assignments to complete so that may have contributed to my lack of reading. I will say that while I didn’t read too much I am still happy with what I read.

Amt. read: 10

Scythe (Arc of a Scythe #1) by Neal Shusterman

Best.Ending.Ever.

Scythe (Arc of a Scythe, #1)

Much Ado About Nothing (No Fear Shakespeare)
by William Shakespeare
Finished April 14, 2017 | Pages: Β238 | Rating: 4/5

Much Ado About Nothing? More like Everything is horrible and old people are really dramatic.

This was pretty enjoyable overall and really makes me want to rewatch the David Tennant and Catherine Tate version.

Strange the Dreamer (Strange the Dreamer #1) by Laini Taylor
Finished April 15, 2017 | Pages: Β432 | Rating: 3/5

Honestly, this started out so strong, I was thinking 4.5 or 5 stars and then bam the romance. No thank you, please leave, this is not what I signed up for.

I should have a review for this up in May.

Strange the Dreamer (Strange the Dreamer #1)

Waking Gods (Themis Files, #2) by Sylvain Neuvel
Finished April 17, 2017 | Pages: Β320 | Rating: 3/5

The first book started out so strong, I had such high hopes for it’s sequel – so of course I’ve let myself down.

I really didn’t enjoy this, the characters were annoying and I was bored.

Amazing Spider-Man: Worldwide Vol. 1 by Dan Slott
Finished April 21, 2017 | Pages: Β144 | Rating: 4/5

I really enjoyed this, though not as much as I thought I would. That being said I’m sure I’ll pick up volume 2 within the next week.

The Forests of Silence (Deltora Quest #1) by Emily Rodda
Finished April 22, 2017 | Pages: Β131 | Rating: 3/5

My brother recently got really into the anime of this and for some reason I decided to only watch the final with him (bad idea) and I really enjoyed it so I decided to read the books over time. The only problem is I already know everything that happens.

Stormbreaker (Alex Rider, #1) by Anthony Horowitz
Finished April 22, 2017 | Pages: Β256 | Rating: 3/5

Growing up this was one of my favourite series and today I was writing ablog post where I happened to mention this series and I suddenly got all nostalgic about Alex and his spying adventures. I am so glad I re-read this and I can’t wait to continue re-reading this series.

Point Blanc (Alex Rider #2) by Anthony Horowitz
Finished April 23, 2017 | Pages: Β292 | Rating: 3/5

I think I probably enjoyed this one more when I was younger but I still really loved it. I didn’t intend to read this so close after I read book 1 but oh well, the series re-read is well and truly underway!

Point Blank (Alex Rider, #2)

Skeleton Key (Alex Rider #3) by Anthony Horowitz
Finished April 24, 2017 | Pages: Β352 | Rating: 4/5

These books shouldn’t be this addictive but they are! I’ve read three in three days and now as much as I want to continue I think I need to take a break.

Skeleton Key (Alex Rider, #3)

Our Own Private Universe by Robin Talley
Finished April 26, 2017 | Pages: Β384 | Rating: 3/5

Good start, boring middle to end, cool debate.

This was an arc (yes, I know it took me too long to read this) so I have to review this, my review should be up in the next month or two.

  1. It looks like you had a good reading month! I’m interested in Scythe, Strange the Dreamer and the Themis Files. Unfortunately I DNF’d Our Own Private Universe 😦 I hope May ends up being a great reading month for you! πŸ™‚

    1. Oh, man I was soo close to DNF’ing Our Own Private Universe, I rally didn’t like it, I know everyone was raving about it but I was just bored while reading it. Scythe is a really good novel and I believe it’s being turned into a movie, if done properly it should be really good! Strange The Dreamer and The Themis Files are both really interesting novels so I hope you enjoy them!
