5 Authors I need To Read

I’m currently procarastinating writing my shakespeare essay and I thought what better way to do that then to start a new feature on my blog. This one is pretty similar to T5W except I’ll be talking about whatever I like (don’t worry I’ll still continue with T5W). I think I really prefer this feature to longer posts because it gives me a limit to the amount of books I talk about but it doesn’t restrict what I talk about.

We all have authors we’ve heard great things about but just haven’t got to yet, well so do I. I was going through my Goodreads TBR and I found there were soo many new-to-me authors, well these are probably the top 5 that I would really like to get to some time soon.Β

Adam Silvera

More Happy Than NotΒ Β History Is All You Left MeΒ Β They Both Die at the End

I have not read any of this man’s novels and it is my greatest book shame. His books sound amazing and I really haven’t read enough LGBT fiction.

I mean, honestly, I really don’t know why I haven’t read these books yet. I’ve recommended his works to my friends and I’ve had More Happy Than Not on my TBR since it came out and yet I still haven’t gotten to it yet.

Sarah DessenΒ

Saint AnythingΒ Β Lock and Key

Sarah Dessen sort of blew up a few years ago (2015?), or at least to me she did. I’d never heard of her or her books before until the release of Saint Anything. So naturally, I checked the book out and it sounds awesome. I would really love to read it and some of her other books but unfortunately due to lack of time or my mood I just haven’t picked up any of her books yet.

Jesse Eisenberg

Bream Gives Me Hiccups

This guy. He is one of my favourite actors and he seems like a really cool and intelligent guy. So of course when I found out he was a writer I went straight to the internet. I saw an interview with him talking about his book with Jimmy Fallon (I think) and sounded really cool so of course I want to check out what his book is like. He also writes plays so I feel like if I like this book, I’ll probably check them out to!

Shaun David Hutchinson

The Five Stages of Andrew BrawleyΒ Β We Are the AntsΒ Β At the Edge of the Universe

What’s that? I’m talking about Shaun David Hutchinson again? That’s right, because for some reason I still have yet to read a single book by him. I don’t know if it’s simply because I’ve been too busy lately or if I’m afraid it won’t be as good as I’ve heard. Either way, I really want to have read a book by SDH by the end of the year.

Rob Thomas

The Thousand-Dollar Tan Line (Veronica Mars, #1)Β Β Mr. Kiss and Tell (Veronica Mars, #2)

I am in a serious Veronica Mars mood right now so naturally when I heard there was a set of books set after the movie written by the Director they went straight to the top of my TBR.

  1. What, you haven’t read Adam Silvera??? For shame! πŸ˜‚ His books are so good. I read my first Shaun David Hutchinson book this year, and it was brilliant; I can’t wait to read his other works! πŸ˜„ I haven’t read Sarah Dessen either, but I don’t like contemporary, so I don’t think I ever will! 😬

    1. I know, I know! I’ve been meaning to pick up Adam Silvera’s novels and I even own We Are The Ants by SDH! πŸ˜‚ I keep telling myself I’ll get to them but I keep putting them off because they’re so hyped up and I don’t want to be let down! Honestly, I doubt I’ll ever actually pick up Dessen’s novels because I don’t really read too much contemporary either. πŸ˜ƒ

  2. I hope that you will get to read and enjoy these authors soon. Sarah Dessen is on my list too. I read one of her books, That Summer, a few years back but I hope to read more from her soon.

All the best with this new feature πŸ™‚

  3. I need to read Adam Silvera as well! They Both Die At The End has been getting great reviews I’m embarrassed I’ve not plunged in yet, especially since I own History is All You Left Me

    1. A friend of mine recently got More Happy Than Not so I’m probably going to steal it from her, his books all have great reviews so I’m excited to eventually dive in! Jesse Eisenberg’s book sounds really fun so I hope you enjoy it!

  4. I have only read Saint Anything by Dessen but I found it bland and predictable. I had high expectations for Silvera too but I wasn’t a huge fan of More Happy Than Not (I think the ending was very problematic) and I had to DNF History is all You Left Me at around 100pages.

    1. The ending is problematic? Thank you so much for telling me, I’ll have to ask a friend of mine who’s read it about it. I’ll definitely look out for it when I read it. I must say it is refreshing to see someone who didn’t actually enjoy his novels. It’s good to know he hasn’t put a spell on all bookworms.

      1. I personally found it to be quite problematic. I enjoyed the first half but the second half made me feel really uncomfortable and I won’t spoil it but basically the events made me feel like the attitude could be quite damaging to young people trying to accept themselves.
