I really enjoyed this post when I read it on other people’s blogs and I really enjoyed filling in the answers myself, so enjoy!
I couldn’t find the original tag, unfortunately, so I can only hope that my answers do the original justice.
01 What do you like about buying books?
I really love the whole collecting aspect of buying books. I used to just buy a book I had heard of or thought sounded interesting but over the last year or so I’ve really grown out of that habit. These days, I prefer to have books that I 100% know I will enjoy or have read previously and enjoyed.
02 How often do you buy new books?
Honestly? Not often at all. Unless I have a giftcard or receive a book for my birthday or Christmas I don’t usually buy books. The only thing I really spend money on is books or pop vinyls but I rarely go shopping so I really don’t buy books often.
03 Bookstore or online shopping – Which do you prefer?
I used to love going to the bookstore but over the last year or so I’ve found that I don’t really enjoy it as much anymore. The books that I usually want to buy just don’t seem to be available at the stores closest to me, that, and the books are usually more expensive at the shop.
04 Do you have a favourite bookshop?
Online – Definitely Bookdepository. The books are pretty cheap and free shipping allows for me to actually buy books online. Most online bookstores are based in the US so shipping is really expensive – Bookdepository is basically my home.
In store – I usually go to Dymocks because it’s just down the road from where I live but I rarely buy anything because the prices are usually pretty high.
05 Do you pre-order books?
I have only ever pre-ordered two novels – Stars Above by Marissa Meyer and The Raven King by Maggie Stiefvater. I don’t usually preorder novels, Β I just order them in from the library. I find that with pre-ordered books they never actually arrive when they’re supposed to.
06 Do you have a monthly book buying limit?
07 Book buying bans – Are they something for you?
Ha! No, I really don’t. As I said before, I really don’t buy books that often so I don’t need a buying limit or ban.
08 How big is your wishlist?
Okay, so my TBR is pretty massive but my actual wishlist isn’t as big. There are maybe 10 books on my wishlist at the moment and I’ll probably just ask for those for my birthday or buy them with my Christmas money.
09 Which three books from your wishlist do you wish to you own NOW?
I’m working on slowly buying Brandon Sanderson’s novels – so far I own the 10th anniversary edition of The Final Empire, Elantris and parts one and two of The Way of Kings.
Over time I would like to buy Warbreaker and the UK edition of the Mistborn trilogy along with The Black Prism by Brent Weeks. High Fantasy has quickly become my favourite genre so I’m hoping to dive into it some more this year.

I usually go to the bookstore to just look nowadays. I prefer just buying on Barnes + Noble online or Amazon because I get way more books, and they usually have the books I need.
I pre-ordered TRK as well, and didn’t even receive it on the date I was supposed to because the book was released days earlier. I ended up just buying it as an e-book. So frustrating. π¬

I agree, buying books instore has gotten to be too expensive and the shops just don’t have enough variety.
I also didn’t revieve TRK when I was supposed to, it came a week or two after it was released!
