Top 5 Classics Read in 2016 | Bookmas Day 5!

I really didn’t read too many classics this year so this list was a bit hard to compile but I got there in the end!

Macbeth –Β William Shakespeare

I read Romeo and Juliet last year and then I saw a modernised version of Macbeth which then inspired me to read it. I loved it and although I’ve only read two Shakespeare plays but I know this is going to stay a favourite of mine as I read more plays over the years.

Pride & Prejudice – Jane Austen

I read this last year and really loved it so I decided to participate in the Austentatious bookclub earlier this year. I loved it as much as I did last year.

Persuasion – Jane Austen

This was one of the first novels I read this year and while I didn’t really love it at the time I have grown to appreciate the story over the year. This novel is a bit different to Austen’s other novels, the main character is older than her other heroines so the plotline and the perspective and maturity of the main is different.

Amazing Spider-ManΒ Issue 1 –Β Stan Lee

This year I read the first nine issues in the original Spider-Man comics. Spidey is my favourite hero so naturally I wanted to try and read some of the original works.

Amazing Spider-Man (1963-1998) #1

Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone (Harry Potter #1) –Β J.K. Rowling

We all know that Harry Potter is going to be a classic, honestly I just consider it Β classic already. This series changed my life and while it didn’t make me a reader it has definitely influenced me throughout my life so far. Harry Potter is by no means my favourite protagonist but him combined with character like Ron, Hermione, Ginny, Luna, Neville and Hagrid I have been able to grow up surrounded by different people with different personalities and problems.
